A dark figure lurched over the grassy lawn, oversized picnic basket in it's hands. Behind him a thin woman followed, loose clothing emphasising her bony figure rather than hiding it. The two were moving at an angle slightly away from Ren.
Suddenly, the woman jerked around and stared directly at the woman. Grabbing her partner, Nara dragged the man towards Ren.

Ren noticed the odd couple walking across the lawn, 'Such an odd looking couple.' She looked back down to the book she ahd been reading when she noticed the woman stare at her and change directions, so taht she was coming towards Ren.

Smiling to hide her irritation at being dragged into work, Nara approached the woman. "Hi! I'm Nara and this is my partner Iian. Did you find a scroll recently?" Blunt yes, but she was trying to rework her introduction.

Ren's eyes bulged at the rudeness of the woman, normally it was custom to say hello at the very least. Ren peered from the man to the woman and saw a bit aggravation cross her face. Ren immediately forgot about the rudeness and sat up quickly while picking her scroll up from behind her stack of books. "Why yes, yes I did." She smiled at the woman.

Nara ignored the look that shifted through the other woman's face. For a moment she considered what to do. Her thinking not exactly the sharpst while trying to ignore her itching hands. Fortunately the bright sunlight hid certain other things.
Flopping down on the grass, Nara stared intently at the woman and began to speak, "So, do you have any children?" Yeah... this wasn't going to work. But best to follow where it was going.

Ren sat down in front of the woman, forgetting about the man that was with her. A sad look came upon her eyes at the question the woman asked her. "My name's Ren by the way and no, I don't have any children. I'm infertile, and the adoption agency won't let me adopt because I've moved around so much."

"Wonderful!" Came the enthusiastic response, an odd contrast between the subject and reaction. Nara stood up and clapped her hands. "There is a way for you to have a child, but the drawback is that you two will be ..well.. bound. Leaving the kid would kill it."
A thump came from the picnic basket being set down and her partner moving over. Placing his gloved hands on her shoulder, the man stood there silently.
"What do you think," asked Nara.

Ren gazed up at the enthusiastic woman. "I-i-i-I'd love it. I would never leave a child, but I don't understand, what does "bound" mean? I mean, I know kids are attached to parents and all, but normally it won't kill them." Ren sat at the feet of the woman, pondering what exactly was happening to her right now.

Nara smiled uneasily, unsure of how to put this. "Well.. You're soul.. and it's... would be.. connected. You wouldn't notice it so much but the kid.. the older it gets the more independent it can become but there's always a tie there. It's hard to describe." Very hard.

"Oh well, I suppose I understand how the kid could die then. Where exactly would the kid come from? Normal children aren't usually like this, adn what does me not having a child have ot do with me having that scroll? And why exactly is there a sketch of a leech on it?" Ren stares at Nara, waiting to find out the answers to her puzzling thoughts.

Okay. Next time she was so just springing it on the parent-to-be. This was getting annoying. "Well, one child.. the parent didn't want him. The children are.. in the scroll and the leech. Well, if we were a thousand years ago, I might have the answer to that." The woman shrugged. "Let's get started."

"Sorry, 'bout all the confusion, but yeah I can't wait to see this "kid" inside the scroll." 'Well really, I've seen odder things than children come out from scrolls' Ren stood up and faced Nara, the looked down to the scroll.

Good. Gesturing her partner into place, Nara and Iian formed a triangle with the new parent. As soon as they snapped into place, the relic's hands turned into green mist, wrapping around each person, connecting them. With a loud thump, the child appeared, though still hidden by the mist.
With the thump Nara took a staggering step backwards, gasping for breath. Her hands slowly reformed as she sat down to catch her breath.

Ren's eyes bulged at the swiftness of what just happened, she thought she had been prepared. She was wrong. "It's a kid! A real freakin' kid!" Ren glanced over to Nara and noticed sh was out of breath, "Hey, this didn't hurt you did it? You're not gonna like faint or antyhing are you?" A flash of humor went across her eyes.
