And it was so much fun.
It was a fairly large tournament at Anime North (128 players), which is much bigger than the 20-30 I'm used to. I didn't place, unfortunately, but I wasn't expecting to. I did do fairly well, though, since I haven't even picked up my cube controller in about 2 months.
Anyways, it was a lot of fun. The only problems I had was that I had to use the controllers supplied by the organizers because I didn't know before hand that there was going to be a tournament. Some of the controllers there were just unresponsive crap, but luckily I only had to use those for my earlier matches. Also, it was 2 stock, 4 minutes which really threw me off.
The guy that knocked me out of the tourny played a killer Marth. Our matches were close, but he was definitely the better player. On our final match, we were at 1 stock each, both around 130 damage, and he kills me with my own turnip. It was a beautiful way to go down; I was happy. XD;
Afterwards I had random people come up to me in the hotel or at the con and compliment me on my Peach. It was suprising, but cool. XD
But yeah, I'm done rambling lol. I was just wondering, what was your first tournament like?

^^ Well, it is true that it sux you didnt place, but they'll always be someone better after all.
That was pretty cool that you were complimented too, guess you must be good : P
My first tournament was pretty annoying ><
The first guy I faced was a bitchy Marth that would always be able to spike me and such. I left and came back about 2 hours later to see that the tourny was still going on. I didnt feel so bad about wasting 20 bucks when the guy that beat me won thing xD.
Yeah the second match was pretty tight though. Gannondorf's drowning kick is pretty nifty ((. . .Thats when you jump and Down-B someone while they're falling. . .Its the easiest spike in the game, ring a bell? xD))
But as you know, speed often beats power.
Oh well, that was meh first large scale tourny ^^ I usually have ones around 30-35 people at the Game Store near my house :3 At least I get about third there xD

Let's see...
My FIRST tourney, I didn't place so well (very bottom ish. Some top players there. Tink, Tre1, Cunning Kitsune). Anywho, I did a friendly with this guy Captain Awesome. He plays Ganondorf (as do I), and in my first life, I did 27% to him... and didn't touch him after that... on a four stock... gonk
But, I just went to a tourney at ACen two weeks ago.
Cap was there again. This time, he was down to 67% on Final D. One more hit, and he woulda been outta there, but it was the same for me. He told me he was sweatin bullets. ^_^
But as far as the tourney went, I placed 4th (lost to a damn good Peach player. I don't fight many peaches. gonk ). And my girlfriend Elana took 3rd. She plays exclusivly as Zelda. She has minor fanbase around the ACen smashers. Last year she took 4th as Zelda, and everyone was like, "Holy crap! A girl! And she plays well!"
And in case anyone was wondering, I main and pretty much exclusively play as Ganondorf in tourneys. Good times. smile

If you're good enough with G-dorf's l-cancelling, you can just punish them to a 4-stock.

: D Yeah for Gannondorf. I second with Ness but I normally wont use him unless I know Im fighting either Fox or Falco, and that info is normally off limits xD

Oh man, it was hilarious, there was someone there playing Mewtwo seriously. After he won his first match, I heard someone yell "Mewtwo for God Tier!" from the back, and people were echoing that or cheering. Then there were the IC who pulled off an infinite chainthrow on a Marth. XD
I play as Zelda almost as often as I play with Peach, but I think I'd only use her for friendlies. Who knows, if they have another Melee tournament next year I might try with her. XD
Edit: The Marth who beat me ended up placing in the top 8, so I don't feel too bad. X3

my first tournament was at my game store near my apartment... I placed second and lost to some black guy. I played with my fox and ness! The tournament had about 30 players but most were noobs... Some were little kids... in the end I won a nintendo t-shirt! I'm much better now with my ness, and I'm trying with mewtwo as I suck with wavedashing.

Actually my first tournament will be in 2 weeks is the first tournament i went too but I dont stand a change I just got to get really lucky.

Aye, she does... she does... u_u She's an effin surgeon with that Din's fire. I've seen do @#$% in tourneys that make my head go "ZOMG WTF!!!" And then I realize "Oh yeah. It's Elana. She knows what shes doing". xd But in all honesty, I don't mind getting my a** kicked by her. How many people can say that? That their girlfriends can 1) Play video games and 2) kick their a** to boot? I pick odd things to brag about... >_> <_< >_>

I've never been to an actual tournament before. 2 good reasons:
1) No $
2) I live in Utah crying
Both the reasons lead to eachother.
Since I live here there's not many jobs to get much $. And since I don't have money, I can't move anywhere else sweatdrop
