About three years ago, before I was in high school, the percussion used to play this cadence called 'Rosies'. At the ending there were three drum beats that the band would usually substitute for some variation of 'suck our cocks'. So when we were about to march in the Buffalo Grove Days Parade, we usually play our opener against the other three marching bands to see who is the best band. Instead, everyone was cheering: Rosies! Rosies! So they actually played it and our director, Mr. Slepak, was so infuriated, that he gave the whole percussion section dean referrals. xDDD

Do you have any cadence stories? =D

We were playing for someones birthday, and his name was Dr. Becker.
we played a cadence where we usualy yell "Thunder" (dut dut) "Drumline" (dut dut) "2007!" but we decided to yell "Happy birthday Dr. Becker" We all ended up saying something like "Thappy birthday Dr. Pepper." i hope he didn't notice. redface

Our drumline's actually pretty tame.
The thing I remeber most from this year though,
Is that after the marching season was over we played at an autoshow.
In between songs the we'd play our cadences.
We were doing really well,
Until we all forgot what we were playing and just kinda let the cadence dwindle.
sweatdrop

There was also alot of lying around and missing cues,
But that's just kinda standard.

Last year we were warming up for a parade and some other drumlines started playing their cadences. So we played ours and it turned into a little competition between the drumlines in the parade. It was so much fun!!!

my school has a knack for never learning a cadence. Last year we played the percussion feature as our cadence. The year b4 we didn't have one. The year b4 we did the percussion feature again.
Well this year all 4 battery captains are seniors and we were determined to learn a cadence. So we all got our caption head to write a cadence. He had written one before but we didn't like it bc it was easy. So he wrote a new one for us. It was insanely hard. We gave the music to everybody and said, learn this. And that was the last we would even think abt it. Until parade time rolls around and we realize "s**t, we don't have a cadence" so we attempt to put together our insanely hard cadence in a week. Bad idea. But what makes it worse is that the day of the parade, half the battery didn't show so we wound up changing bass parts and cymbal parts. It was all just a giant mess. But it was fun.
