Based on what I know about convictions, it seems Ubi is focusing more on graphics and interaction between objects(which are both good) but it doesn't seem like splinter cell. Remember, hiding in the shadowy corner or flat against the wall as an enemy walked by? Then grabbing, taunting, incapacitating, and hiding them? And using the enviroment to take unobvious roots in enemy bases (Pipes, crawl spaces, fire escapes ect.)? Hacking into computers, getting past cameras, lazers, and turrets, breaking lights, recieving orders/chatting with Echelon people. And a lot more. Is all of this gonna be in the next one? It seems like it will be good enough as long as the levels are long and there are a lot of them, but it doesn't seem splinter cell-ish. I think they messed up DA big time, too. Am I wrong? Do I have some good points? Am I just jealous because I can't get it?

conviction is just like DA
KILL THE DAMN TERRORISTS! thats it
but at least DA still had the stealth option. i mean in Convictions, i heard that you fight the 3rd Echelon because of Williams
It would be cool that if you had a DA save file that has completed the game it affects how Convictions is played. Like if you didnt kill lambert, you are fighting against the #rd Echelon at first but some turn of events happens, same like if you kill Emile, Jamie, Cole, Sykes and so on a nd if you blew youre cover during the last mission

Are you refering to DA current gen? Cause no matter what you do there Sam's cover still gets blown in the cutscene of the final mission during the HALO jump. And you must kill Emile, BJ, Jamie, and Moss. And your morale choices don't effect the storyline, ecxept William's and Sam's phone conversation.(Eg if you chose to blow Lamberts cover)
You kill him
Sam: I...killed Lambert.
Williams:Yes, you did. You believed the mission required it and you acted accordingly.
Sam sad refering to William's decision to bump off Enrica)Is that how you justify what you did?
You saved him
Sam: How's Lambert doing?
Williams: Dufraine roughed him up a bit before you stepped in, but at least he'll recover, won't he?
Sam sad once again referring to Enrica)Unlike some people, eh, Williams?

But in Convictions you're not after terroists, are you? You're running from some of the gov't and at he same time going after some. (Williams)
Sam seems like a "bad guy" now. And he's out in broaddaylight and in a crowded street? SOO unlike SC. And using the enviroment's different, too. You throw chairs and block doors, unlike in the past, where you'd go hide in vents or climb pipes.

It is still Splinter Cell. A big factor of Splinter Cell was interacting with the envoirment. That is greatly shown and avanced. Another factor was stealth. That is also shown very well. Like in Assassin's Creed or Hitman, you have to stay unnoticed. A big factor added is when you are noticed you can fight back. That was always limited previously. Heck in PT if you were noticed too many times (a lot of the time ONCE) it was a big ol' "MISSION FAILED!" It became very anoying very fast. Sure, there's no more pitch black shadows to hide in but you'll find just as much cover in a crowd. Pervious Splinter Cells had big focus on shadows and light. Most of the stealth was based on it. This has a new basis of stealth but it's still Splinter Cell. Also, keep in mind that it's Montreal making this one, not Shanghai.

PS: If you haven't noticed, I am a HUGE fan and I am welcoming the change. The only thing I hope is that Sam is still able to climb like a ninja. ninja

I hope Sam can still shimney and mantel like he used to. And I hope they imrproved hand-to-hand combat. So it's stealth, but in a whole new way? I get what you're saying. I really think they should fix DA and that Convictions cou;d come out for PS2!

my problem with DA is its not a splinter cell game. or it kinda is. it's like a splintercell quits, goes double agent, and uses his skills and knowledge to accomplish his goals. and i'm on the level where i either save or kill lambert. i know, i should have it done by know, but im taking my sweet time...and i havn't heard anything of Convition Yet....guess im waybehind you all...

thats what i thought convictions was about, and enhance i was talkin bout 2nd gen DA not next gen. i couldnt beat that level where you kill emile and all them nor did i see HALO jump. so i dont know, but ive heard there are ways to avoid cover being blown
PostPosted: Mon May 28, 2007 8:41 am

In the current gen you're cover is blown right after you jump from the copter no matter what.
What part are you having trouble with? I can try and help. I beat it on expert, no why I can beat emiule without a flashbang, so I can't do it on elite, or at least I haven't tried.

right know i was in a rush and my file got all corrupted cause i turned off while saving by accident *stupid me stupid me* so right now im in the level right after the boat level. and for some reason i can never escape with 0 kills
PostPosted: Sun Jun 03, 2007 5:13 pm

That sucks. What boat level?
The one where you eliminate Hugo Lacerda, the one where you plant Red Mercury on the Mecican Cruise ship, or the one where you sieze the Russian Mercenary tanker? Or in next gen the coast guard? ( Oh, wait, the latter has no level after...)

no you're right it doesn't look like splinter cell, but don't get me wrong if it was a different series it'd be a great idea! but they just won't have any of the other stuff they used to have like all the gear and stuff cause now you're in public and you were booted out of the NSA. i think that if they make a splinter cell 6 there may be a chance of you getting back into the NSA because the whole point of conviction is to prove your innocence in something [i think had to do ith double agent]

if u still have frags when you get to the final fight
you dont really need your pistol to kill him
just get lucky with your frags (again if u have them)

Do you have access to grenades on ELITE? I can't remember... I usually wait for him to reload. While he's doing this I jump over a barrier and take cover. Then when he's reloading again I lob a flash bang at him. While he's writhing around I retrieve my pistol, disable the lasers, and turn and shoot him a couple times in his mid-section or torso (but not enough to kill him). Then when he's reloading a third time I lob a flashbang and when he's blinded I grab him, interrogate him, break his back, shoot him twice in the head just to be sure he won't be in SC:5, then diffuse the last Red Mercury.

But are you allowed flashbangs in ELITE?
