Shimmers rippled across the minty grass as gray paws padded over them. The wind ruffled the ridge of orange fur on the shocking numa's body, making him look like a wraith that was floating across the silvery moonlit ground that night. If it weren't for Nicabar's colors then one probably could find him as such, but as it was he was a shockingly bright orange color with gray, red and cream markings, so he would stand out even in the water with no matter what he did.

What he looked like didn't matter though, Nicabar didn't find himself all that attractive, which was probably why he was in such awe of all the other males that looked so gorgeous. He liked to watch them sometimes and daydream of what male looked good with another, because he knew he'd never end up with one himself. Not to mention, the prospect of two cute males together made him smile a little, something rare.

This night... wasn't for that though. As Nicabar walked across the ground his bangles on his four wrists tinkled together, making it sound like a wind chime as he passed. This night was for finding a good gem to add to his collection. He'd added far too much gold and silver recently, he wanted a shining gem that would light it all up. Something special.

Of course he'd been looking for one of those for the longest time, the one gem that would outshine all of his others, he just had yet to find it. Though Nicabar knew that when his gray eyes landed on it that he'd know that it was what he was looking for. Something so gorgeous, so beautiful, so awe inspiring that he would need it at that exact moment.

A gentle wind sighed over the nightscape, tugging gently at the dark numa's fur as though calling him forth into play or adventure. When all was swathed in such inky blackness, it was easy to imagine that things beckoned at the edge of what one could see...but Moiety, the night-furred, simply sat, a sort of half-smile upon his maw. He would not give in to the lunacy of darting at nothing that the darkness suggested...no. He instead turned his gaze to the serenity of the moon, who shed her light over all...especially bright, tonight. The silvery glow bathed the world around him in surreality, making everything seem not-quite real...oh. A pause, a blink, and his wandering eyes stopped upon the form of an orange ghost- no, correction: just a lovely, graceful numa, caressed by the very moon that he had been musing upon. Moiety found himself frozen, his eyes widened, unable to look away. Oh, but he was lovely..

Sharp eyes flicked around the distances of Numa land, taking in what it was like at night and smiling whistfully even if there was no such smile on the maw of the creature that owned such eyes. No, rather he had a normal deep frown on his cream colored muzzle that would serve to make others imagine that he were cruel.

Which wasn't exactly an un-truth, his temperment was glaringly constrasted to any of his family members and their rainbowy joy. While he enjoyed his sister's company and wouldn't deny his love for his mother, Nicabar was like none of them, least of all his brother and father. He was wicked incarnate, he'd been told by his 'adopted' family of choice that he should have been born a coffee numa rather than just a candy. Even his horns reaked of the scent of coffee mixed with soda, showing his... indifferent... side.

It was this, this monster of a candy numa, that trotted across the grass in search of glistening treasure on a night of such watery light that it made everything shimmer. The moon with it's silvery glow was even making the trees light with what appeared to be gentle magic, though it was simply the bark reacting to it's moon tan.

However, even the light of the moon couldn't have made the numa that his eyes lit on glow anymore gently. Even as he flicked his eyes in that direction, he almost thought that he was looking at a shadow, until he noticed the body of the other flickering in and out of them like a light gone haywire. A deep violet glow came from the, obviously male, numa's body and Nicabar had to force his eyes closer just to see him, dazzled by how he would glow one second and then seem to dissapear the next. Truly that was one gem that was rare indeed and all that the orange numa could help himself to do was to stare in awe, just as he'd been looking for up and down.

Esqueleto floated up to the side of his head and glanced with one of his unseeing eyes at him calmly. He never said a word, as a fish he didn't have to, their minds were connected. The little fish simply had to think an image and Nicabar would flick one of those gray eyes at him in confusion or in amuzement and that would be that, he didn't even have to respond.

A tremor went through the night-numa as eyes fell upon him, and a reflective frown set crept onto his face, mirroring the other's. He was curious about this vibrantly-coloured numa...but quelled at his grimace. Did the very sight of Moiety displease him? This response from another would, under normal circumstances, cause the purple-tinted numa to 'hmph', and turn to ignore him..but something about the one before him forced him to pause. Not quite sure why, Moi hesitated, then shrugged. It didn't matter.

Taking a single step toward him, Moiety smirked challengingly, hoping that he would incite the other into coming closer..if only to better observe the orange one.

Laughing eyes watched the other as he moved, the frown not lifting from his face though the edge of it did lift a slight bit to prove his amuzement at the other's bravado. He was walking towards him, despite how much Nicabar knew he must have reaked of coffee taint, why would a male that drew the eyes and the heart so want to walk challengingly towards him though?

Normally he'd have taken it as a threat, normally he'd have puffed himself up and walked back, but in this case, in this time, Nicabar was so entranced by how the moonlight shimmered off of the other that his eyes locked onto him and he watched motionless. He couldn't hide his awe anymore than he could hide the glint of gold at his ankles or the ruffle of his ridge of fur on his back.

It was a his in his ear, like the whisp of wind over the branches of a tree. Though the other numa wouldn't have heard it, Nicabar lifted his eyes and glanced at his fish floating by his head once more. Esqueleto's blind eyes seemed to reassure him as he floated to nestle between his numa-master's wings where he normally spent his time.

Suddenly no longer distracted, Nicabar lifted his head and gazed at the beauty of the other with his gray eyes and let a slight smirk cross his face, matching the other's single step with one of his own. The weight shifted from leg to leg as the other moved with the same leg the other had, nearly mirrored save for the gentle tinkling of the bangles that rested at his wrists.

"So.... darkness does take a new form at night it appears...?" his eyes flashed gently as he stood as still as a statue, watching with gray eyes that seemed to dare the other to make another movement, to call him closer. Something sparkled suddenly between his wings and the orange numa fluttered them, feeling the silvery chain start to slide down over his fur like water down a rock, slowly yet all the same surely. It was a special chain so he was worried that the other would see it, see the one thing he'd been saving special for his whole life.. waiting.

As the other moved the same as he had, Moiety couldn't help the warily playful gleam that his eyes aquired, no more than he could help taking another step forward, dramatically. Soon, he thought absently, they would be dancing. The idea thrilled him, somehow, and he hesitated, then tilted his head to the side questioningly, an invitation, as it were.

He thought he saw something glimmer on the other numa's back, but was too distracted to think much on it...both by his soft-spoken question, and the fact that he had wings. Moi blinked slowly at him, scrambling for something witty to say in return...but found nothing, not a word, and therefore simply watched him, smiling.

Watching him still, Nicabar pricked his earfins forward and watched him step forward once more, his orange fur rippling and nearly standing on end as he watched him. This other made shivers run down his spine just from watching his shimmering fur and horns, his eyes latching onto his. Another spark was sent through him and he felt this feeling spread over his chest... the same sort of feeling he would get if...

No.... there was no way that this was....

Clearing his mind for a moment, Nicabar took yet another step forward, mirroring him again and noticing that he didn't speak. So maybe he was a mute that only body language worked on? If that was so then Nicabar would play along with it.

Both of his ear-fins spread out wide and his eyes flashed once again, his wings spreading out wide so that one of his feathers caught the edge of the silvery chain that was sliding down his back and held it in place so that it dangled out in the open. It wasn't intentional but then right now nothing he really did was, it was just instinct, just amuzement.

Instead of letting the other take the first step this time, the orange numa took a step forward and swished his tail out to either side of him, his eyes watching him to see what move he'd make this time. This dance was fun, he'd never gotten this close to another aside from his mother or sisters, and then there had been that one psycho coffee female that he'd been able to stand, so this was not only the rarest but it was the strangest thing he'd done in a while. Normally he was anti-social and would hiss at others or just walk forward, ignoring them as if they didn't even exist within the space of his eternity.

This male however... he had to admit.. this male existed, though he looked like he existed between two words, caught forever between darkness and the watery light that was the day.

Moiety caught his breath as those wings opened wide, his eyes falling on the silver chain that dangled from one of the feathers. For a moment, he stared, awe-struck, and was surprised when the other took the initiative and moved first, this time. As the orange numa had been doing, so he did: mirroring, and then setting the next step. He moved more quickly now, hoping that he could begin some constant movement of the two of them, a sort of dancing game that was not a game at all.

His eyes never left the other's, transfixed...as though they were what gave him motion. As it were, he was now moving to an unheard pulse, as though he truly were dancing...a tango of some sort, perhaps, for the overdramatic steps, as well as whatever invisible sparks were being flung into existance between them.

Moving his paws so that he was almost constantly moving, almost hoping that the other would mirror him, Nicabar kept his eyes latched onto the others, his fur standing on end and his feathers spreading out wide. It was a dance though it wasn't intentional, it was stirring and it kept him moving through intriegue, kept him moving because he wanted to see what the other would do next even if he didn't talk.

The silver danced with him as he kept moving his body almost languid now despite all the sparks that were flying from him towards the other. He couldn't help it, there was something there that he couldn't see at all but he could feel it and Nicabar wasn't one to deny his own instincts when they were pricking at his insides.

Flicking his tail out to the side as the chain decided it wanted to slip and fall, he caught it and slid it back into place, moving that feather so that it stayed in place for a bit longer until they were finished with this... whatever it was. As long as it wouldn't be falling down he'd be happy, if it touched ground then it would be ruined forever and he'd have to find something of equal sentiment and he wasn't sure that he could.

Esqueleto started to dance around Nicabar's head as he danced, feeling the vibes and needing to get them out of his body as well through movement. Needing to move his striped body in time with them.

And then, without thinking, he was dashing breifly forward and brushing against wingtips, and then away, continuing to move, although no longer mirroring but circling, almost predatorily. His eyes remained on the mostly-orange form before him, but now a grin touched his face as he waited to see the reaction to his feather-touch. This heady dance would need to end eventually, he knew, but for now...it was all instinct, all act-and-react.

Sparks flew across him as his feathers were touched by the others, his eyes starting to glow in a way as he watched this other male, a feral grin splitting his cream colored muzzle in two. Rather than reacting the way the other thought, Nicabar twirled up into the air with his feathers. It wasn't that he could fly it was that he could hover for a short time and that's exactly what he did.

Landing on his hind legs he flashed his wings out wide and kept his one feather clamped down over the chain as it started to dance in the air like the twisting of a silver blade, or the glinting of a shimmering weapon of some sort.

Holding out his paws like he were waiting for the other to grab them, Nicabar let a small smile light the edge of his muzzle, his eyes dancing with laughter and instinct, flashing and dazzling with the sparks of his want to show this other that he to could match his movements but that he could make up his own as well. That he could take the lead in some sort of way.

Moiety was fairly disappointed when the other didn't follow his example- but when he lept into the air and hovered, Moi could hardly hold it against him. He was too busy staring, even pausing in his movements to admire the other male. But not for long..

Unthinkingly, he took that offer, doing his best to hop up onto his hind paws to touch his front paws to the winged numa's. Of course, this was only momentary, and he did stumble..but then, for a brief, dizzying moment as he staggered to regain his balance, he brushed up against his dance partner, and finally ceased his motions, smiling semi-guardedly at him.

"Hullo."

Perhaps it wasn't the most impressive choice of first-words, but Moiety somehow didn't mind. Any words were an improvement, and too many would ruin all that the dance had said.

"Hello gem." An instantaneous response started from deep within as he held him tight, tail wrapping around his waist to keep him steady when he stumbled. Nica wasn't beyond helping others of course, but this was a special case and a special numa.

This was the gem that he wanted to steal; this was the heart that he couldn't be without.

Taking a step with one of his hind paws, Nicabar tried to lead him into the dance again, his paws still gripping the other's, unwilling to let go and possibly let the fluttering shade of a gorgeous numa flit out of his sight just as soon as he'd appeared. That was what shadows did after all and it was the last thing that he wanted.

Maybe there was a way though... maybe there was a way for him make sure that he stayed forever?

The tink of the chain on his wing made his brain start to grind together and come up with an idea that he hadn't thought of before. If one wanted to keep something that they deemed special... then they would need to be given something special in return. Maybe....

It wasn't the first thing that he wanted to do, however Nicabar also wanted to see what this other would do first, wanted to see if he'd continue their dance, to see if he'd continue this swirl of the night with him.

Gem?

Feeling his heart give a strange shudder, Moiety struggled to remain on his hind legs with this winged numa, not wanting the dance to stop. His own tail went to lightly prod the other's curiously, and he tried to follow the step...only to tumble, this time coming to rest on his back, widened eyes reflecting the gentle moonlight.

Although he was ashamed by this show of gracelessness, the night-furred numa also rather hoped that he wouldn't have to get up- that the other would join him here. For, while dancing was fun...rest, too, was a good thing. And they could always begin the dance again later, right?

Assuming that his dance partner was willing, that is. Glancing up at him, Moiety smirked challengingly once more, daring him to come and lie beside him...it had worked so well to incite him to action before. Perhaps it would work again? He certainly hoped so.

A wry smile met the other's eyes as he fell, Nicabar's fur ruffling from the gust that met it when he left his body. His claws retracted a little and he sat down with his front paws between his hind, watching and sitting in much the same position as a dog would attempt.

His burning gray faded eyes watched the other closely, keeping tabs on his every move, his every facial expression. Everything. Nothing would escape the eyes of a theif, not even the barest rise of of the other's chest as he breathed gently. Even the challenging smirk didn't escape his sharp eyes as he let his eyes wander up and down his glowing and fading body carefully, bemuzed by his beauty and breathless from it at the same time.

Taking a step forward on one of his gray paws, Nicabar watched him with careful eyes before taking another step, followed by a few more. He wasn't one to trust easily but this other also didn't appear to be as fast as he, so there was still the inherent chance that he could leap up from a laying position and make his getaway. At least he hoped it to be so.

Bending his knees and laying beside the other, Nicabar curled his tail over his hind legs and gazed up into the other's large purple eyes, holding them for a long moment before breaking the gaze and looking up at the stars. The stars were nothing suddenly... nothing compared to the glow and fade of the gem beside him.
