Why??? Why??? It was so sad! NOOOOOOO! I can't deal with it. I don't get why critics said it was so bad. I loved it. Except for the ending, which makes me want to kill myself, badly. It was sob worthy. WHY DID WILL HAVE TO DIE??? ONCE EVERY TEN YEARS IS NOT ENOUGH!!!! WHY???? Okay, I have to go cry now.

I thought the kraken was going to have a bigger part in this movie, but he/it didn't. That was kidn of disappointing. And I agree with you about the will/elizabeth thing. That kind of got me down. But its only a movie, after all.

The world is ending over this movie!! I can't believe they had a kid, I mean seriously.. and as it was pointed out to me, they conviently forgot to mention the Calypso is half man, half woman...
PostPosted: Sat May 26, 2007 6:58 am

The kid thing was so stupid. It means that they cannot be together for ten years even in a sequel they can't be together for another ten years. That was the stupidest thing every. I was so crushed by it. I'm still devastated by it. I'm goign to cry. I hate those writers!

I spent most of the time in this movie crying.. there were so many sad things!!I don't hate the writers, I just wish they had thought things out a little more.. I wonder if the "Agua de Vida" will be as popular as this movie? It's supposed to put even Spiderman 3 to shame in the box office
PostPosted: Sat May 26, 2007 7:17 am

You mean POTC3 is supposed to knock Spiderman3 off the charts. Okay, I can see that. I really liked it actually. I thought the overall movie was a great job. I don't get why the critics are freaking out so much. I mean, there was nothing wrong with the movie. I can hate the ending, that's my right. Are they definitely doing an aqua de vida movie?

Are you sure about that calypso thing? That's kind of weird. Why would she be both male and female? And I hope that there is another movie. Am I th eonly person annoyed by the kraken-less movie?

hey, i have bee running around on line looking for rumors about a 4th movie. They say that there might be a spin-off movie that focuses on johnny depp and a new cast of characters. Kiera knightly syas she wont' do another movie and there are rumors of orlando blooms character being killed off in the fourth movie, which no one has confirms exists yet. they actually say that htey haven't written a script yet. they're waiting to see how this movie does. i f they do do it, it'll be with a different director (the current one has refused to ever do another movie on the water, I think he jsut needs a break), too, so I'm not sure how that would work. I think that with the great success (yeah, really great) that knightly has had with other movies (cough, domino, cough) that she'lll probably come back for another movie if they offer her enough money. I hope so. The movie jsut wouldn't be the same. Johnny depp is pushing for 4, 5, and 6 movies. He wants to make a new trilogy to follow this one. I dont' know how that would work, but we shall see.

as far as calypso goes its not that it was half man half woman, it was neither and both at the same time, the ancient mythic being known as calypso didnt have a definate gender, and i think that they made her a female 1. to go with the whole general veiw that "a woman" as they put it is everchanging and as unpredictable as the sea and 2. and ill make it eccesivley clear that i have no issues with homosexuality, but to the general populace i think that a romance between a cursed pirate with a broken heart, and either a god or somewhere in between would have made it seem a bit less romantic and tragic. as far as the fountain of youth thing im pretty sure it was just to be funny, seriously thats really just kinda lame if it were true and it really didnt seem like it was a serious theme. the ending didnt bother me at all in fact i kind of thought it was fitting. and i too was distressed by the loss of the kraken it just kind of died, there was no story to how davy jones got it, or how he controled it, and besides i loved the music and the parts when it destroyed ships and i think that it wat stupid to kill it off, i mean really cutler becket could have destroyed so many more enemies with the kraken than the flying dutchman alone. oh and the malstrom fight between the black pearl and the dutchman was the best in the series.

It was pretty cool, but they didn't really have any one-on one swordfights like there were in the first movie. I really liked those. I didn't know that about calypso by the way. I still think the idea is weird.

Hey, I found a good article this morning. It was on how Pirates of the Carribbean is the "new" star wars, meaning that it's the star wars movies for the current generation (Just admit it, the new trilogy wasn't that faboo). Here's the link if you wanna read it. http://movies.aol.com/feature/summer_movies/photos/pirates-of-the-caribbean-vs-star-wars

hello my lovelies! The Aloreina has been ferreting today which basically means frolicking through the internet like a sprightly forest (or in this case sea) nymph. I have found much information regarding the ending of the film which has so deeply distressed us. Okay, mainly me. Anyway. I was given a link in one of the threads on this site which led me to a web page on which the writers answered questions that viewers had about POTC3.

The most notable of these is "What does the green flash at the end mean?" The thing is, that hte writers have confirmed that it was Will's curse being lifted. What curse is tha tyou say? See apparently in editing they cut out a much more clarifying explanation of Davy Jones's Flying Dutchman connection.

See, Davy Jones was never supposed to perpetually be the captain of the Flying Dutchman. He was given ten years of the curse, of ferrying dead souls between worlds, and in return, he would get to return to his beloved one day. The flying dutchman must have a captain. In order for that captain to escape the curse, he must find true love. His true love must remain faithful to him for ten years of never seeing him. If she does so and then meets him on the day ten years later, then the curse is lifted and he is free of his captainship of the flying dutchman. That comes from an opera called "The Flying Dutchman" upon which the movie ship was based.

In Davey Jones's case, Calypso betrayed him. Knowing what his fate would be, to be cursed to another ten years of servitude, she still didn't show up. As a result his curse was not lifted and Davey Jones was forced to return to the sea again. Now, instead of resuming his task, he chose to seek out revenge on the one who had betrayed him, his beloved. He bound her in human form, knowing she would be immortal but cut off from the sea, which was teh core of her essense.

In Will's case, Elizabeth remained true for him (A shocking feat considering her tendency to pass the kisses around, you know) and his curse was broken, signified by the green light (which indicates a soul has returned to the land of the living).

According to the writers, Will is freed at the end and gets to live a ordinary life with Elizabeth. I am incredibly happy over this. And Depp is pushing for more movies.

Some people have said that Will's character will die for real in the fourth movie, but I'm not sure where they're getting that from considering that the fourth movie hasn't even been started yet. They haven't even decided one way or the other if they're going to write one.

Either way, the actors are saying only if hte script is good. Depp loves his character, but he says that he's not going to play him in a stupid movie. Here's hoping for a new trilogy. And a little clap of joy that everything turns out okay in the end. It's a Disney movie, cut me a break!

See, apparently there's a scene that explains all this much more clearly. In the scene someone says "If the woman waits faithfully, then the curse will be lifted." Elizabeth waited, Calypso/Tia Dalma didn't. Some people think that the whole tension between Tia Dalma and Jack is that they were sleeping together. In a way, that would make it all Jack's fault in teh first place.

...Well, Arkahm isn't convinced...But I like that better... I don't know if she would sleep with him... that'd be kinda weird..
