Oscar


Scientific Name: Astronotus ocellatus
Size:12" (30cm) or more.
Temperature: 23-28oC (73-82oF)
pH: around neutral pH (6.5-7.5)

Diet:Carnivorous: Live and Dead food such as Bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, etc. Also Tablet and Pellets foods are okay.
Behavior:Not for the community tank! Small fishes will be eaten. Robust tankmates should be chosen with care. Can be desructive and ruin Plants.
Note A pair will require a tank of around 80 gallons or larger. They are enthusiastic and messy feeders, so a good filtration system is essential. They are very intelligent and make great "pets" seeing as how they are easily trained.

Convict Cichlid


Scientific Name: Cryptoheros nigrofasciatus
Size: Up to 6" (15cm), females smaller
Temperature: 20-25oC (68-77oF)
pH: Anywhere from neutral to Hard, Not critical - pH 6.5-8.0,

Diet:Omnivorous: Pellet, granular or flake foods along with a meaty food like bloodworms, brine shrimp etc. Vegetables are also eaten
Behavior: Aggressive, large robust tankmates only.
NotePairs spawn readily after selecting and cleaning a suitable site. The eggs and fry will be guarded by the parents. Lots of babies 0.0;; Sexing is fairly easy, males are larger and as they grow devolp a bump on their head.

Angelfish



Scientific Name: Pterophyllum scalare
Size: Up to 6" (15cm), usually smaller in Aquariums
Temperature: 24-28oC (75-82oF)
pH: anywhere from soft to hard! 5.7 and 8.7

Diet: Will eat most flake, pellet, and live foods.
Behavior: Good for a community tank, however they may become aggressive during breeding
Note:Difficult to sex. Theu come in many colors and varieties. Enjoys tall tanks with long-leaved plants.

Scientific Name: Symphysodon aequifasciatus
Size: Up to 6" (15cm)
Temperature: 26-30oC (79-86oF)
pH: 6.0-6.5 soft and acidic

Diet: Carnivorous: live and frozen foods, also flake and pellet foods
Behavior: Peaceful, can be kept with other peaceful fish and in a species tank
Note:Efficient filtration and attention to water quality are essential to maintain discus in good condition, as they are prone to disease. Perfer large, deeper tanks.
