Kiefer moved into the ocean, enjoying the cool and refreshing feeling on his coat. It was hot today, very, VERY hot. Just walking with out in the open was enough to make Kiefer break a sweat. So like others had, he retreated into the water to cool off.
The salt water was not the most pleasant tasting stuff in the world, but Kiefer certainly enjoyed it. Something about the feeling of being sucked in and then pushed out with the water made things feel funny. Sometimes Kiefer would forget that he had to go back in, and go out too far. But then he would just have to work extra hard to get back to shore, no big deal.
The salty wind whipped around his short mane. Why did it always seem so much windier at the beach? He looked up, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the sun shone down at it's hardest. It was going to be a long, hot day.

The sun glared down with its stunningly bright rays. It was early afternoon but it was HOT and it usually wasent like this.
Houndoom trotted to the beach wanting to cool down. Beads of sweat rolled off his neck. His mane was sticking uncomfortably to him. As he reached the beach he saw a stallion, almost as brightly coloured as the merciless sun.
His herd had naught of bright coloured stallions like this and so he was intrigued. "At least, it isn't a mare." He thought to himself, he walked forward wanting to introduce himself.
His hooves sank into the clean white sand. The ocean was glittering blue. It was going to be a long long day.

Kiefer's ears pricked forward as he saw another stallion in the distance. His fur was black mostly, with bits of red. Long silver horns curled up from his head. Interesting, Kiefer had never met one with horns like this before. Then again, other then his father, he hadn't really met too many stallions, either.
"Hello there" he said, sloshing a bit torwards him, but still unwilling to bring his body completely out of the water. Just way to hot for that. "I'm Kiefer" he said, momentarily dunking under water to kepe the wind from bothering his hair more. He resurfaced, and flicked it out of his face.
He had only really met one or two other stallions in his life, one being his father, the other when he was a colt. So it exicted him a bit to have contact with anyone other then a mare. Not that he didn't like mares, there was certainly nothing wrong with them. But one needed some interaction with their own gender, someone they could realate too more, because otherwise it got rather boring, very fast.
"It's really hot out..." he said, remembering when his father said that those with black coats got hotter faster, because black absorbed the head. It must be terrible on days like today! Then again, that also ment they were warming in winter. Oh well, Kiefer enjoyed being in between.

Houndoom swished his tail ashe bowed before the stallion in reply. " I am Houndoom, pleased to meet you, and yes i agree with you its really hot." nickered houndoom.
He settled down at the edge of the water so when it came up it would hit him slightly.
"I think you haven't introduced yourself yet, so i must ask. Who are you?" Houndoom eyed him suspiciously, surely he had been taught manners by his mother!
The name-less stallion had emerald green eyes and a mane which had two colors. He decided that every one he met would have intricate designs on them and be brightly coloured.

((-cough- he said his name in my last reply. -cough- XD ))
"I said already, I am Kiefer" he said, tilting his head to the side. Ah well, the waves were rather loud, he must have not caught his name. "Please to meet you as well, Houndoom." he looked over the stallion more closely. He had interesting bands of silver all around. Hmm.
Kiefer moved more to the shore as to stand about five feet away from the newcomer. "So, I notice your horns. Are you a special breed?" he asked, fairly sure that Houndoom was not a Kalona. Kalonas had massive wings as huge teeth, and their horns were not curled like Houndoom's were. Kiefer had yet to meet the soquili that fell into no specific breed catagory.
"The ocean is very nice on days like today. It seems everyone has retreated to the beach to cool down" he said, already becoming hot again. A large wave crashed againts his back, and for a moment he swayed, trying to get his barings again, and he did. "The waves feel so nice" he added.
What a peculiar soquili! He had no wngs, yet he had horns and a forked tail. He had an ornament around his neck that seemed to match his horns as well. Kiefer looked down at himself. In front of stallions like Houndoom, he felt rather drab.

Houndoom shot an apologetic look over to Kiefer, " I'm so sorry, I cant actually concentrate properly with my coal black coat absorbing the heat."
"No, i'm not Kalona if you were thinking of that kind" He snorted, thinking about other times where he was mistaken for one. "I fall into the unknown catergory..." He added sadly.
Houndoom shuffled a little closer to the water, he was burning hot and he needed the cooling down. He eyed keifer, what a colourful male stallion. Perhaps it was to attract females.
"Keifer, could your colours by any chance help you to do anything? For i have never seen a stallion with such bright colours." Waves crashed down. The sun was beginning to dissapear behind the numerous clouds that came from nowhere.

((Don't worry about it, I've done that dozens of time. XD))
"Oh, thats fine, it really is too hot to think, isn't it?" he said, himself moving mack into hte ocean more. Even the water was begining to warm, and he hoped it wouldn't get so warm that it wouldn't help the heat anymore. If taht happened, he would have no where to go to cool off!
"Oh, I apologize, I didn't realize that...well, not everyone was in a catagory. I didn't really think you were a Kalona, I was just curious because you had such unique characteristics" he said, truthfully. Kiefer had a tendency of asking questions that shouldn't really be asked. He often didn't think about what he said before it came out of his mouth.
Kiefer was now almost submerdging his head, and when a wave went by, for a moment he would lose his footing and float up. He noticed most didn't go out as far as he usually did, but was unsure why. He knew that the sea could pull you out, but Kiefer was too reckless to ever care.
"Erm...I don't think so?" he said, rather confused by that question. Help him do something? Like what? How could colors help him with something?
"I don't even have that bright of colors, you would be surprised how much of a variety there is around here" he said, remembering all the soquili he had met, everything from a winged mare to one with fire on her hooves. Such a crazy woulrd it was out there!

(( its still embarrasing whee ))
Houndoom finally gave up and trotted into the cool water, the sensation was fantastic! He immediately got hit by one of the strong waves and his hooves got lifted off the sand for a moment. He kept his cool and thought about what to say to his new found friend. Although the weather made it extremely odd for finding friends.
"I think i'm in the ''copy'' catergory, like those soquilli that wear cloths that human wear... But noe it seems odd, why don't I wear cloths?" Hounddom was confusing himself, he did it sometimes but on this hot a day... He was sure to do it alot of times.
Houndoom took his mind off that matter for awhile and said again. "I've seen a multi coloured mare before! I think that she told me her colours help her do something so i'd thought i'd ask. If i offended you in any way please accept my apologies." said houndoom sadly.
He tried to bow in the water but ended up semi-drowning himself.

Kiefer smiled, finally able to coax the odd-looking soquili into the ocean. He saw the immediate relaxation on his face, there was nothing better then cold water on a hot day. That is why during days like this so many took refuge in the ocean, even if afterwards you felt a bit gross because of the salt, it was nice to carry around the intoxicating smell of the beach.
"Ah, yes, I've met a few of those before. Always confused me a bit, but it's cool." he chuckled "I think I've met more soquili with something special about them, like you, or someone with wings and such, than I have ones with nothing special about them, like me" he said, but not bitterly. He was fine not being special, and it didn't matter at all to him.
"Oh, really? How interesting! And don't worry about it, I'm not offended" he said, laughing as the large stallion tried to bow "Be careful, you can't breath under water, as you probably know, now at least" he said, not holding back his laughter. But it wasn't the cruel kind, just simply the fun-loving kind.

Houndoom gurgled in the water and quickly pulled his head up. He shot kiefer a grin and splashed the stallion with water.
"Just thought you needed to cool down some more..." Said Houndoom slyly. "So Kiefer, Hows your day coming along?" asked houndoom with sincere interest. The topic was not that good but he wanted to keep the conversation going. Silence between friends were one of the things he did not like.

Kiefer laughed, and splashed Houndoom back "Well, I figured you needed to be better acquainted with the water, since you seem to have quite a bit of trouble!" he said, laughing more.
"Eh? Today? Nothing at all really. Woke up, realized it was way hot, came here. I suppose I out to go and visit my family soon. I bet my parents miss me..." he said. He hoped, at least. But of course they missed him. His family loved him, they had too. Of course...did he really miss them? A bit. But the freedom felt so good, he didn't know. He dreaded going home and not being able to get back into the world, it was like he was holding on to something.
"What about you? Anything interesting?" he inquired. He wanted to know more of this stallion, who was turning out to be a fine friend.
