Maria had returned to her world after gaining some essence from the one she referred to as her charge. She didn't protect, but rather dealt pain and suffering. He escapade she had just finished was a success, a minuscule win, but a success none the less.
She walked on an empty foggy plain. There was nothing to be seen. The ground was hard, the area was flat. Nothing but a dense fog that thinned the higher it got. Below Maria's waist nothing could be seen, as the fog was thicker towards the ground.
It was as if she was a Victorian queen haunting her kingdom's courtyard on a cold night. She walked in her elegant gown through the fog, silent. Expressionless. She was thinking. Thinking about that man that she had seen earlier. No that poor excuse for a bard. He annoyed her, but somthing about him was captivating. Maybe next time they meet they could be on different terms. Perhaps she flirted in a morbid fashion. Or maybe it was just she really did despise him. She was confused, but she knew she didn't want to have another encounter. She enjoyed her solitude.

He was placed upon a layer of what was once a stone fence. It was cracking, covered mainly with weeds now. He sat there as if waiting. He sat there with something in his hand. As the fog fell over everything in its path he whistled to himself. A dreary tune it was, to be sung out on such a dreadful night. He flopped over suddenly. He lay there on the stone fragments resting along his back. Twirling the item in his hand he stared coldly at the misty sky.
Footsteps. He heard them as they came closer despite the fact he could not see much in front of him. It was her from before. Rolling back over, he sat on the top and peered at the figure walking up to him with a grin on his face. He was happy to see her. In fact, it was as if he had been counting the minutes until he was able to meet her once more. He knew it would happen, when was always the issue. Leaning to the left, he almost fell off of his little "lookout". Despite catching his balance he lost his hat it seemed. It fell to the ground, just near Maria's path~

Maria had been walking, slowly and silently, only stopping when the hat had landed in front of her. She looked down to it and took a moment to place it. It didn't take her long, but she soon remembered who it belonged to. It was the nameless man she had come in contact with earlier.
If she were still human, she would probably just bend down and pick the hat up, but her mortality died as did her sense of sympathy. Now she was a careless tyrant. She lived only to cause pain and blood shed. She enjoyed it.
With a firm stomp, she planted her heeled foot on top of the hat, her foot flattening it. She then lifted her head, she had a glaring grimace slapped on her face, as he eyes fell on the owner of her hat. "Oh... I'm dreadfully sorry. It would appear you have lost your hat." She spoke calmly, despite her evil expression.

He tilted his head at the sudden cause of violence towards his poor, feathered hat. He was not angry.. nor was he sad. It was as if he was content with her actions in fact. He looked at up close, silently and humming to himself as he had been before.
"Now now, a lady like you should not be out alone on such a night like this. I thought we went over this before?" he said grinning a bit, still clutching tight to whatever was in his hands. He peered downwards to his hat and quirked a brow at it, wondering whether or not it was even salvageable anymore. In the end.. he could always try and stitch up a new one. Buying such a hat was near impossible anymore, his style seemed to have died out ages ago.

The wind picked up pushing the fog and Maria's hair slightly. She looked down to the hat, and extended her arm. A wire extended down and pressed up against the cloth and pierced tiny holes, allowing it to be lifted off the ground. Without moving her arm, the wire extended out to the man, dangling the hat in his face for him to take it. She was convincing herself this was not an act of kindness.
"Well a girl like me, can take care of herself. I have done it for centuries. What would change such a thing? I have always held my own... and i was able to support my b*****d son... until..." She stopped dead where she spoke, not going on any further. The eminence of a tear forming in one eye, but quickly returning to what little of human emotion she had left.
"What is bringing you out here anyway?"

He extended out a hand slowly in order to take his hat, as if he was trying to figure out if Maria was trying to pull off something by doing this. Once it was in his grasp he peered at it questionably before placing it back on his head, despite it being a bit maimed thanks to the lovely lady.
"Hm? Does the devil still have a shred of humanity left in that charcoal heart of hers? Or is it merely an illusion.. this shed of tear..." He flopped over his stone seat, his head now lowered to the ground. His hand was placed apon his hat, keeping it from falling once once more.
"Mmm... I came out here to find you Ma'lady. Care for company in your walk?

"Humanity... That was taken from me long ago." She whispered at his comment. She sighed and then looked up, all evidence of the display of sympathy and depression gone.
"I really am not going anywhere. I often come to this barren area to clear my head." As she spoke her barbed wire was retracting to her. "But if you wish to walk, I don't suppose it shalt hurt anything." She was actually grateful that he wanted to walk. She really wanted to talk, but the centuries of being a sel absorbed nightmare, she had not found an ear to listen. Perhaps this kind gentlemen, who's name she did not know would be able to listen and provide some sort of a comfort.

The man tilted his head at Maria's sudden change of tone. It was low enough for him to not be able to comprehend it, but loud enough for him to realize something indeed was different tonight.
With a smirk, he finally came off of his broken nest and placed his feet upon the hard, solid ground.
"Hmm... then dear, you shall have company tonight. A pity the spider that gave us an audience is nowhere to be found this time"
He thought back .. to why he had even stopped his stroll last time. It wasn't to save the poor beast, heavens no. A pity it ended in hat way. Before letting himself get lost in his thoughts, he extended out a hand to the lovely lady.

Maria looked at the out reached hand for a moment. She then looked to her own, and watched as barbed wire curled about it. "I don't think you would find that to be very... pleasant." She said slowly, happy with her quick thinking. She didn't want to show any emotion, attraction, or affection. She only wanted company, and touch was not what she desired.
She thought for a moment. "So you don't know anything about you came from? What you are, or rather who you are?" She looked at him with a sincere look on her face. " I mean, as much as... my own history haunts me... I cant imagine not knowing anything. Knowing nothing... but just being."

"Heh, my dear.. if you do not wish to be touched then you may just say so. Besides, how do you know that pain is not my pleasure?" he said chuckling slightly. Watching the wire curl around her hand gave him no means of alarm. He knew she was quick to jump at him, but not quick to actually strike so far. Hearing her means of a conversation topic did indeed get him to listen though.
"Hm? Perhaps merely existing is not that hard .. when it is all you know for certain. There is a time for love, laughter, to live, and to die. There is a time for everyone.. and for the moment it is not mine it would seem. Such a caring question from someone like you.. or is it merely in hopes that it causes me to whimper? Eternity is nothing to be afraid of.. you of all people should know that. "

"While what you speak is true..." As she spoke a whind picked up and blew at her hair. She let the barbed hair that held it in a tight bun loose, letting it flow in the soft breeze. "... Eternity is still an awful long time. Especially when you loose something you so cherish." She stepped forward, away from the man.
She looked out into the long never ending nothingness that they were located. "I just... And after a while eternity gets repetitive. People live, People die. Sun up, Sun down. Even the randomness of life itself gets boring. Anymore... I just want to end my very existence. Maybe then I can truly have what it is that I seek." She turned and looked to the man. A smile on her face, and her eyes closed.

"Hmm ... such an odd way to want to end things. Mentally wanting to die is about as bad as suicide in my opinion. Waiting.. ever waiting for the reaper to call."
He stared at her, taken aback by the small smile that had crawled upon her face. While her view on things disgusted him, he found no real reason to fight against them this time. It was her choice... was it not?
Lifting up his hand, whatever was inside slowly started to slip out. It seemed to be a small chain. A shiny chain was hanging around his fingers. Small words were once engraved on it's rosy pendant, forever tarnished now by time itself. Only a capital "A" was still semi-legible. What it once said .. is anyone's guess.
"Eternity is indeed a long time, especially if you choose to bear it alone." he stated simply, stepping close to her once more.

She looked over to the man that step closer to her. "But who is here to bear the burden of eternity with me? Everyone I have ever loved has met complete damnation. My son burns in the pits of hell its self. My whole life as a mortal... was a mockery of love. What have I reaped... so have I sowed. But why? Why must I live through out eternity like this." Tears started to roll down her eyes, as the barbed wire that was wrapped tightly around her body began to s**t and move and rotate and she was starting to get furious at her own pathetic existence.
"I have sworn to kill everyone that I can find that smells of the wizard that banished me to this... scum felt life. But with everyone that meets a sudden rustic and painful death, another seems to appear. What is that? Are their souls returning to the land? Does this happen? Is it normal? I never believed in reincarnation but this... this is hell. I can never rid the world of the stench of that man. Forget his family, he just wont go away." She collapsed into the man in a rage of fear, anger, and hopelessness.
Her blood was pouring out from her arms and legs, where the shifting wire had ripped and torn her skin once more. Even with all this pain she felt some comfort right here.

"Damnation ... is indeed a lowly life to bear. What not a man with no name be forced to walk the night alone, forever driven mad by his own mind? A mind forever giving him dreams.. dreams that fill him with a sense of nothingness. For whatever their purpose, they do not help the lingering sense of a ghost. A ghost that only finds pleasure in the mockery of fools. Fools that best the earth better that he himself. Why does a fool gain better leverage than a man such as we? .... Perhaps memories will not even be enough to sooth his insanity, only fuel it. Fueling the fire that nips forever at the mans heels for all eternity. Does thou not hear it? The call of the night? It cries to us all.. all the ones damned."
He paused, glancing at the small pool of blood that was dripping slowly to the ground. Her blood, the blood of a maiden turned cold years ago. Could someone so cold ever be warmed? Even by the fire? Even by the touch of someone? Perhaps... perhaps it would take far more than this "man" had to even offer.
"Dear lady... do not mourn. Someone such as yourself should not have her face covered in such things. Blood... blood... toils. Something I cannot stop, but nor can you? Come here ... if there is no one willing to spend an eternity with you... perhaps I can fill in for now?" he said slowly, standing his ground. The locket burned... it burned his hands. Clinching it too tightly.. just as always.
