The day itself was considered ‘fine’ by normal standards. The sun wasn’t too high in the sky , a soft ocean breeze came by every once in a while and it wasn’t too hot or cold. The ideal day for anyone who wanted to go out to the beach, lay down and relax. However, for Hailey it wasn’t fine. Another day had gone by without any signal of help coming, another day with hope diminishing little by little and another day where she longed to be back home in her own bed.

Amber eyes kept glancing from the shoreline to the grains of sand. There wasn’t much for her to do--then again what could she do anyway? The young woman was bored at the little ‘camp’ but what was there for her to do? Another glance at the calming waves of the sea brought an idea to her mind.

Maybe she should go for a swim, or a cool dip? It would provide her with something to do--like swim or look for shells--and cool her off. And besides, it had been a while since she had something remotely close to a bath.

Leonard had already decided to take a swim. The salt water would be hard on his skin once it dried, but it's not like living in a sandy clearing was doing wonders for him.

He was swimming the length of the shore, just trying to get a little exercise. He wasn't the type to body build, but he figured he might need to be in better condition, as it seemed like they were going to be there for awhile. The cigarettes had taken their toll though, and he was forced to stop. Wading into shore, he realized two things; one, Hailey was there. And two, his white boxers didn't leave much to the imagination.

Whoever said good things come in small packages was wrong. Apparently good things--even if that good thing was Leonard--came in wet packages. She had started her stroll down to the shoreline, thinking she would be the only one there. But to her surprise, just who does she catch coming out of the water.? Leonard! Of all people! She would’ve turned on her heel to march away considering the big jerk he was to her…but that was before she caught how ‘intriguing’ he looked all wet.

It had been a while since she found any guy to be worthy of staring at, but she did have something to stare at. Thank God she wasn’t one of those naive girls otherwise a blush would’ve formed on her cheeks seeing someone of the male gender all wet like so. However, she did feel the tips of her fingers getting warm along with the tips of her ears. Maybe the island heat was playing a trick on her, but for now she would have to play it cool.

Amber orbs looked away, instead chose to stare out to the sea instead of Leonard’s form. “See you had fun.” She stated coolly, trying to pretend she had no interest in him. A game had started between the two--at least to Hailey--and now it was her turn to make a move. Carefully she unbuttoned her white long sleeved shirt--the green blazer was back at camp and too hot to wear for the time being. Gingerly she placed the item of clothing on the sandy ground, leaving her tank top and outline of her bra there for Leonard to see, along with a flat stomach and small peek of a tattoo on her shoulder blade.

Leonard had no issues with modesty, but even he had some standards. He quickly sat down in the water to hide himself.

Her comment though, wasn't a scathing insult. It sounded more like...small talk? Maybe being on an island not surrounded by her boy-toys was having an effect on her. Maybe he could get lucky. What else was there to do on an island?

"Yes, I did. Would you care to join me for some fun?" Screw small talk.

An invitation to have ’fun’ with Leonard. To take it or not to? If she took the invitation it would mean she was willing to be around such a man, but by refusing it…and considering she was --to her knowledge--the only girl on the island. That fact alone gave her the upper hand, but how to react? Her eyes glanced over at Leonard with a small smirk forming on her lips. “Maybe.” She replied removing her shoes before taking off her jeans--thank god she wore those box underpants. She allowed Leonard to see how she looked without her pants and how marvelous her body was.

Slowly and gracefully--maybe borderline seduction--the young woman walked into the cold water. Though she found it odd her toes were fine by the coldness and the heat in the tips of her ears and fingers hadn’t gone away. The water stained her underpants as she walked deeper, until the water reached her stomach. She had her back faced towards the male, allowing him to see the flowery vines across her shoulder blades--better than a pair of wings any day.

Cupping some water into her hands, she let the cool refreshing liquid slide down her palms down to her head and her tank top--another technique Hailey had mastered over her twenty years of life. Looking over her shoulder she smirked. “What kind of fun do you have in mind?” She asked with a silky voice and captivating gaze in her amber eyes.

The vines were appropriate. It matched her personality so well. He had to admit; she was hot. There weren't too many men who wouldn't want to be with her.

He moved a little closer, though keeping somewhat low in the water. "The type of fun two people can have stranded on an island together. I figure we might as well do something productive, don't you think?" He moved a little closer.

Do something productive? Hailey arched a feminine eyebrow at Leonard while keeping a small smirk on her lips. She continued to keep her back towards the approaching male, if he wanted to play with her he would have to try harder than that. A low chuckle escaped the young woman, cupping more water to splash over her face, some drops of water fell in her hair. “Ahhh, I don’t know…” She let her sentence trail on still keeping a silky tone of voice to lure Leonard even closer.

“Why? After the way you treated me before…” She left the sentence hang in the air, pouring water down her arms to let her skin glisten in the sun’s light. Hailey wanted him to apologize to her first and of course woo her before they got around to doing something productive. Even though the odd heat wouldn’t go away, the color of yellow began to slowly appear on her finger tips while she felt something against her feet. As though she had hit something making her feel some pain but not too much for Leonard to notice--hopefully.

Leonard was just behind her now, only a few feet away. "Oh come on; a beautiful island, no one around, nothing to do, just you and me..." He did his best to sound seductive.

Before? Oh yeah, on the ship and on the beach. Fortunately, Leonard was a good liar. "That was just the sea sickness talking. That and Aiden showing up at the wrong time. And about your name; I hadn't actually learned it. I'm sorry I called you Hurley before."

He took another step closer, just a foot away now. "What say you and I finish what you and I were going to do on that boat."

The smirk on her lips grew a little, thinking of what could’ve happen between herself and Leonard on the boat. They have that opportunity again, but to take it or not? His voice was very appealing, enough to send a tiny shiver of delight down her spine. ‘Oh hell why not?’ Her mind whispered, deciding she would get what she had been deprived of ever since she washed upon such a boring island.

“Its Hailey.” She purred turning a little to allow Leonard to see her profile. Her hair was a little bit wet with some beads of water rolling down her skin. Seeing the distance between them, she moved to close that gap. Getting close enough to her lips to brush against his cheek before whispering in his ear, “And to answer your question, yes.” she purred once more, taking her right hand out of her water, intent on tracing a line across Leonard’s jaw only to see a yellowish hue appearing. Maybe she had brushed against some yellow seaweed? Ignoring the coloring for now she let her fingers graze his shoulder, unaware of the texture had changed from soft and smooth to scalely.

This was getting good. "Hello Hailey. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said with a light smile. His physique wasn't great, but at least he didn't have a gut. It certainly wasn't bad.

He put a hand around her waist, and pulled her close to him. "I like that answer." He moved forward to kiss her, but felt the touch of her hand on his shoulder. Something wasn't right. He reached up and took her hand gently, and looked at it.

"...I think maybe you got stung by a jellyfish or something. Are you okay?"

It was getting good, he was holding her waist, about to kiss her...and he just had to say something! Of all things to say, he had to ask if she got stung by a jellyfish? What in the world possessed him to ask such a thing? He as looking at her hand now and Hailey couldn’t understand why. “I didn’t get stung, why what do you mean?” She asked, keeping her tone light as not to ruin the mood. It was nice of him to see if something was wrong and the fact he was being gentle but…

Amber orbs widen seeing the yellow pigmentation spread to the first joint of her fingers. Fear began to grip at her heart, what was going on? Were they swimming in polluted waters or what?! Her hair was covering her ears, making it hard to see the same reaction happening to her fingers was happening to her ears. Except the hue was turning blue, not yellow.

A faint gasp of pain passed through her lips. Her feet were hurting again. “M-maybe I did get stung.” She panted, feeling as though her feet were being stretched. Thankfully the water wasn’t as clear as crystal otherwise both Hailey and Leonard would see her toes turning yellow as her finger tips and lengthen with her toes becoming thing and long.

This wasn't right. Her hand were yellow. Was it jaundice? Or was it something in the water like she said? He hurriedly checked himself for anything similar, but he did notice anything different.

As he watched, the color was spreading, going farther down her fingers. He backed away, aiming to get around her and head for shore. Whatever it was, it must have been in the water.

"Let's get out of the water, quick!" He called back. He certainly wasn't waiting up for her.

Hailey narrowed her eyes, the b*****d was leaving her! The pain in her feet was hard enough to bare as is but to get out of the water…that would be a miracle in itself. Still, she had to get out of the water, whatever it was that caused her to change wasn’t on land. Or at least she hoped so. Biting her lower lip to keep from crying out in pain, forcing herself to move she struggled through the calm waters to get the shallow end of the water.

Hailey had tripped some times, over what she didn’t know but it didn’t help her a bit. She found her hands continuing to become yellow while a webbing began to grow in between her fingers. Was she becoming a mutant or something?! With one final trip--and now thoroughly soaked body--she got to shore. Whimpering from pain, her body laid on the wet sand.

“What’s wrong with me?” Her voice cracked, her hair a mess--leaving a bit of a blue ear to see--and her feet…well now yellow like her hands but resembling fish fins now. Now the pain of her ears began, feeling as though someone was tugging on them.

Leonard had reached land, and watched as she fell forward onto the beach. He got down next to her, not to see if she was okay, but to see what was happening.

Her fingers were bright yellow, and webbed. Her feet were the same way. When she spoke, he looked at her face, and noticed her ear. It was a bright blue, and it actually looked like it was getting longer.

He sat back, out of reach. "I...I don't know." Was she contagious? Should he get away? Maybe it was a hallucination? But if so, why would she see anything? He didn't know what to do.

Hailey winced again, her ears felt like they were on fire but she mentally thank god the pain was gone with her feet. Leonard didn’t know what was going on with her transformation, nor did she have any clues either. Was it something she ate? Something she did? Maybe she was just dreaming and soon she would wake up.

But if she had been dreaming then the pain would’ve snapped her out of the dream like state. A few more moments went by before the throbbing of her ears stopped. Panting she looked over at her feet and saw the changes. Tears began to p***k at the corner of her eyes, was she becoming a monster? The young woman looked at Leonard, apparently he didn’t want to be near her--thought she couldn’t blame him. Hell, she didn’t want to be her either right now.

What could she do now? Ask him for help? Like he would offer her anything in this state. “What am I going to do?” she cried, if help came would they take one look at her and send her to a museum to be studied? Why was her lifestyle of rich and galm slipping through her now webbed fingers?
