Cutter sat next to a small sand castle he was building. He liked being on the beach, there were many fun things to do. He cupped his hands and packed more sand onto the castle.
Tawny sat in the shade of a tree. She was watching Cutter play. He always had so much energy, more than she had anyway.

Aoaka was making his way down the beach in the water, with Debi riding on his back. She was already learning how to swim, but he was still careful to go slowly this way, in case she slipped off. Suddenly, he felt a small hand pulling on a hank of his hair, as if he were a horse and she were pulling him up.
"Ow. Debi, why did you--"
"Pae!" the toddler exclaimed happily, using one of the few words she knew and pointing in the direction she saw people on the beach. Aoaka lifted her off his back, and took a look in the direction she was pointing. Sure enough, there were Pae on the beach... and one of them wasn't much older than she was.
"Would you like to play with the other Pae, Debi?" Aoaka asked, looking down at her.
She simply shrieked her joy at the suggestion, causing him to wince at the shrill sound. She giggled at his expression.
Thus encouraged, he shifted so that he had legs, and carried her up onto the beach, waving at the Pae as he approached them.
"Hello! Excuse me, but... Debi saw you from the water, and wanted to come say hi. My name is Aoaka," he said, introducing both of them as he paused a respectable distance away.

Tawny smiled and waved as the naiad and toddler walked up to them. "HI, I'm Tawny and that is Cutter." She smiled down at her son. "Would you like to play with her?"
Cutter looked up at the girl and nodded, "Yes, she can help!" He needed to dig the moat on his castle next. She could do that he was sure, even if she was smaller than him.

Aoaka smiled and said, "It's a pleasure to meet both of you. Debi, you can go help Cutter. Play nice, okay?"
He then set the little red Pae down, and she crawled a few steps towards Cutter before shakily getting up to walk. She'd started walking not too long ago, and it hadn't been the same in Aoaka's house since.
Carefully, slowly, she made her way over to Cutter's sand castle, before plopping down onto her diaper padded bottom with a happy giggle.
"Hi!" she declared, waving clumsily at Cutter. She looked at the castle. What was it for? Her papa had never done this... She reached out a hand towards it slowly to touch it, looking at Cutter as she did so to see what he would say.
Aoaka, meanwhile, had settled down a few feet away from Tawny, and looked over at her with a smile.
"I didn't expect to see anyone at the beach today," he said, making small talk, "Do you come to the beach often?" he wondered.

"Well, I used to live in a tent pretty close to here, well until I found my mate and moved." She giggled a little bit. "I love the beach. It's very calming."
Cutter smiled at the toddler and then looked back at his work. He patted the sand, "Hey, you have ta make the moat!" He didn't want her to knock it down.
Cutter crawled over to her, as crawling was easier in the sand, and started to dig a trench around the castle, "See?"

Aoaka nodded. He thought so as well. "I like the beach, too. But there's nothing like the lake bottom. It's so different from up on land," he said, with a nod.
A happy cry came from Debi, and though she wasn't all that coordinated, she dug in the sand with gusto, tossing handfuls aside into the air. Her trench was more of a widening of what Cutter had done, but she was getting the hang of it.

"Oh, yeah? I've never been down that far." Which he probably already knew. She was just a regular pae and well, she just liked swimming a bit. "What's it like down there?"
Cutter smiled as he watched her dig. "There, you got it!" He clapped his hands and then went back to his building. He had two towers and decided to make one more.

Debi was having a grand time flinging handfuls of dirt into the air, where it would spread out to land here, there, and everywhere. But she was making a moat, even if it was a bit wider in some spots than in others.
But what was Cutter doing over there? That was interesting... he was making a pile! Suddenly Debi wanted to make one, too.
She looked down at the hole she had been making, and grabbed another handful of sand. Instead of flinging it, this time she put it down next to her. It was outside the moat.
Aoaka thought for a moment. "Well, everything sways with the waves, so its like a dance. And, the way the light sparkles on the surface makes a pattern on the sandy floor if you're not too deep. It's like a different world, because the sounds from the surface get muted below, but something that makes a sound underwater could be far away and sound like it's right next to you."
He paused for a moment, then chuckled and said, "I suppose my favorite part is finding things that fell in the lake. I found a stone chair once. I have no idea how it got there, but there are some fish living under it now."

Tawny smiled listening to him talk about living under the water. "That sounds beautiful. I like to swim, but I don't go far."
"A stone chair? That sounds interesting. I do know that there are alot of interesting things on this Isle." She had heard of other things from various paes.
Cutter watched as she dug and then as she started a pjile by his moat, "Are you making a castle too?"
((Btw, Debi is a child now too. xp ))

(( Well, yes... but I don't really like to do the spontaneous growing thing in the middle of an RP... I know everyone seems to do it, though... *ponders* ))
Aoaka smiled. "You're right. There are many interesting things," he said, then added, "I don't get out onto the shore much... what have others told you about the land? Especially the forests... I've never been to the forests."
He was sitting cross-legged now, leaning forward a bit in interest, his hair slipping down from his shoulders to fall across his chest and lap.
Debi nodded. "Yeah! Big one!" she said, and pulled another handful of wet sand from the hole. It seemed she was still doing her other task, too... though she didn't realize it.

((Lol, that's ok. I was just letting you know in case you hadn't seen it. biggrin ))
"Oh, I really love the forests. My Mom grew up in the Fae Clearning, and it's just goregous! My Grandma lives there and has the most wonderful garden on the isle." Tawny smiled as she talked, she wasn't usually so open, but it had been a while since she had talked to someone new. "What else do you want to know?"
Cutter watched the toddler with a smile. "Now you need a flag!" He found a few sticks and put one on the top of his tower and then handed her the other one. "See?"

Aoaka thought for a moment, then asked, "What kind of flowers are there? Are they like the ones that I see in the trees near the beach? Hibiscus and ones like that?" He had seen a few gardens, but only from a distance.
Debi watched Cutter put the stick in the top of his castle and squealed shrilly with delight before reaching for the stick he was offering.
"Flag! Flag! Gimme!" she said, and then snuck a sly glance at Aoaka to see if he'd caught her rudeness. She always tried to get away with whatever she could.
Unfortunately for her, Aoaka had heard, and glanced her way with a raised eyebrow. She could twist him around her little finger, but there were a few things he insisted upon, and one of them was manners.
"Debi! That's not how we ask for something!" he scolded, the frown looking out of place on the gentle Pae's face.
Debi pouted and crossed her arms for a moment, but she really wanted that flag...
"Please give flag?" she asked, holding out her hands again and putting on an adorable face.

Tawny smiled, "There are sooo many kinds of flowers. I can't even begin to say them all." She thought about it and then said, "You should vist my Grandma, she would show them all to you. She likes to show people her garden.
Cutter laughed as she stuck out her hand, but then stoppd as her Father scolded her. "Here you go." He said, handing her the stick, after she asked more politely.

Aoaka nodded. He would like that very much, and said so, adding, "Where does she live?" Learning a little bit about everything was beginning to become something of a passion with him, though history was still at the forefront of his mind.
Debi reached out for the stick, grabbing it in her chubby toddler fingers and stuck it proudly in the top of her misshapen pile of sand that was supposed to be a castle.
"Yay! Flag! Fank you!" she said, and crawled over to Cutter to glomp him and apply a sloppy toddler kiss to his cheek.

"In the Fae Clearing. She has a tree house, you reall can't miss it." She smiled, it was a pretty big house to go with the garden. SHe loved visiting, it was such a serene place.
Cutter smiled as she was so happy. "Good job!" He said with a laugh. He then felt her kiss him and he made a gross face. "Ewww, girl germs!"
