This is a story which i have written. It involves Rose and the 9th Doctor and basically the Doctor and Rose meet a Psyclon - a being who uses telepathic powers.

I apologise if its crap redface just an idea I had. It explores the relationship and the trust between Rose and the Doctor.

Chapter One

“Remember Rose, these people will play with your mind. Cling on to reality, Rose, and don’t ever let go.”

Rose thought about these parting words with the Doctor, and played them over and over again in her mind, trying to remember what reality actually was.

"You're imagining it, Rose, come on, snap out of it, get out of your head, cling on to reality."

Rose looked up at the sound of the voice, eyes feverishly darting around the pale blue room to seek the source.
"Who-Who's there?" she shouted. No response. She groaned and sank to her knees.
She didn't know where she was. She didn't know if she was alive.
"Have you decided to help me yet?" said a sinister voice from behind her.
She whipped around to see the Psyclon's pale face, inches from hers, his bright yellow eyes boring into her own blue ones, and his manic grin plastered all over him.
She blinked in shock, and then he was gone. She stayed still for a while, unsure of what had happened.
“Well?” hissed a voice in her ear behind her, and she yelled out in shock. It was the Psyclon again, still grinning wildly.
"Go away!" she shouted at him. She didn't want anymore mind games played on her. She blinked and he disappeared again. She turned round suspiciously and the Psyclon was there, behind her again.
"Stop it." she said.
"Stop what?" he replied.
"Stop - you know - disappearing and reappearing and stuff." she told him.
"I'm not doing anything." he replied.
"Yes you are!" shouted Rose indignantly.
"No I'm not." he replied.
"Yes you are you're-"
"Look - you're the one doing all this. You blink. I disappear," he interrupted. "It's your head. Control it." he added matter of factly.
"Oh shut up and go away." said Rose with venom. "You've played with my head enough, so get lost."
"I'm doing you a favour," he said sickeningly sweet. "That.... Doctor of yours... he doesn't care about you!" he drew his words out slowly, circling round her as he spoke.
"You're wrong." shouted Rose. "You're wrong." she repeated. "So stop trying to-to play with my head because I'm NOT GOING TO HELP YOU!"

The Doctor watched painfully as his companion ran around circles in her own mind. Rose was wired up to a large monitor, displaying what she thought she could see. The Doctor was situated in front of the monitor, forced to watch every move as his companion slowly drifted in to the depths of herself. The Psyclon was in front of him too, his eyes closed and brow furrowed into concentration hands splayed around Rose's face. Rose was tied up next to the monitor, her eyes closed, and her face pale. He watched her, and her attempts to defeat the Psyclon in his mind games. The human brain was fragile, still not fully developed, and he knew that Rose would not be able to take much more of the Psyclons meddlings. He struggled at his bindings, furious at himself for getting into this situation.
He tried talking to her again, though he knew it was not much use.
"You're imagining it, Rose, come on, snap out of it, get out of your head, cling on to reality. He saw her look up on the screen and shout out, but the Psyclon was in her mind again, talking to her, destroying her.

Chapter Two

The Psyclon's face turned sour.
"I'm losing my patience with you," he sneered menacingly. He snapped his fingers, and Rose found that she was now outside, in a forest, all alone.
She was unsure of what to do, and stood still for a while, taking in her surroundings. There were thin beams of light poking through the thick canopy of leaves, and the whole place had a kind of eerie green glow. She listened carefully for any sounds, and heard nothing. She gradually moved forwards, the sound of her steps muffled by the thick humid air. She walked forwards, trying to look confident, more for her own sake than anyone else’s.
"This is in my head." she thought. "There must be a way out."
She kept on walking in a straight line, and stopped suddenly when she saw a pair of gleaming yellow eyes staring at her in a tree. No sooner had she spotted them, had they disappeared. She shook her head, and told herself she was just imagining things. She carried on walking, but she had a prickling sensation on the back of her neck that she was being watched. She couldn't help but to turn around, and there she saw a pair of bright yellow eyes. They disappeared again, as soon as she saw them. Rose started to get scared, but she told herself that it wasn't real. She was going to get out of this.
"Ro-ose" drawled the familiar voice of the Psyclon. She whipped round. There was nothing there.
"Rose!" there was another voice now, in a whisper, still sinister sounding. Rose whipped around again, and saw more pairs of yellow eyes staring at her.
"Hearing more sinister cries of her name, and seeing more pairs of vivid yellow eyes wherever she looked sent her into hysterics. She tried to turn round and run, but whenever she turned to, wherever she went, there were the cries of her name, and those gleaming yellow eyes.

The Doctor gradually became more and more concerned as he saw Rose getting hysterical, not only in her mind, but in her real self as well. She was flushed a deep red and was lashing around wildly in her bindings. The Psyclon was still there in front of her, in her mind, except now his face was not furrowed in concentration, it was relaxed, with an evil toothy grin spread about his face. Rose was losing the battle, and the Doctor knew there was only one thing for it. He could not enter Rose's mind by himself, he was too far away. So he closed his eyes and concentrated on the Psyclon, tracing his telepathic field. Slowly, and cautiously, he entered Rose's mind using the Psyclon's telepathy bonded with his own. He knew it was dangerous, and that it could go horribly wrong.

Rose was in a hysterical frenzy. She closed her eyes and tried to run, but she tripped over a tree root and landed on the leafy ground. She dared not open her eyes in fear of seeing the yellow eyes. She could still hear her name being whispered and called, and she curled up in a ball crying, trying to block them out.

The Doctor found himself where he had just seen Rose on the monitor moments before. He listened carefully, until he heard faint sobs, and he ran as fast as he could to the sound. He saw Rose and carefully approached her.
"Rose" he whispered. "Rose, It's me. The Doctor. It's me."

Rose was still curled up in a ball. She couldn't block the voices in her head, and the yellow eyes burned on the inside of her eyes.
"Rose". She heard this voice louder than the others. It seemed familiar.
"Rose, it’s me". It was the same voice again.
"The Doctor, It's me".
"Doctor?" she repeated hoarsely.
"Yes, it's me," he replied.
Rose could still hear the other voices whispering her name, and didn't know if this was just one of the Psyclons mind games. She did not open her eyes.
"Is it really you? Doctor?" she whispered quietly.
"Yes. It is." he replied.
She felt a hand gently take hers, and she knew it was him.
She took a deep breath and opened her eyes to see the Doctor staring at her worriedly.
Suddenly, the voices were gone.
"Quick, come with me," said the Doctor urgently, and Rose got up and ran with him, still holding his hand.
"Look - over there," the Doctor gestured to a point in front of Rose. "Can you see it? Can you see the light? That's where we need to go." Rose looked in the direction of the Doctor's hand, and saw it, a pure white light in the distance.
"I see it," replied Rose.
"That's the way out. That's where we have to go." said the Doctor.
They ran together, hand in hand, towards the light.
"NO!" screamed a voice.
Rose tried to turn around but the Doctor wouldn't let her.
"You mustn’t look back." he told her. "That’s what the Psyclon wants."
Rose nodded and they continued to run. Rose fought the temptation to turn around. She knew the Psyclon was in her mind, telling her to turn, but she knew she couldn't. She knew she wouldn't, not with the Doctor at her side.
Whispers of names drew closer behind them, and they both felt eyes boring into the back of their heads. The white light was closer. They were nearly there.
They reached the end of the light only to come to an abrupt halt at the edge of a cliff. The white light was just in front of them.
"Jump, Rose, we have to jump."
"But- it’s too far -" said Rose paralysed with fear. This brought up memories of a disturbing event in the past, one she did not want to repeat.
"The Doctor looked at Rose intensely, sensing her fear.
"Rose." he whispered. "Do you trust me?"
"Y-Yes," replied Rose hoarsely.
"Ok then. On the count of three, One, Two, THREE!"
Rose screamed as she leapt of the cliff, hand in hand with the Doctor, into the white light.

The Doctor quickly withdrew from the Psyclon's telepathic field, as he knew it would collapse as soon as they jumped. He opened his eyes and was back into reality again. He saw the Psyclon wailing on the floor, and Rose was screaming still. He struggled at his bonds even more furiously than before. He managed to undo his ropes, one of the useful things he had learnt in his travels. He quickly ran over to Rose and carefully examined the wires attached to her head.
He wanted to make sure he would not hurt her if he took them off. The Doctor took the wires off her head and ignored the Psyclon on the floor. The Psyclon would not be able to use his telepathic powers on anyone again, and the race on his planet would be safe. Rose ceased to scream as he unhooked the wires from her head, and she fell limp in his arms. He carried her carefully but hurriedly away from the room, and he ran back to the TARDIS. He gently placed her down on the floor of the TARDIS before rushing to the control panel and setting a date.
He then examined Rose, who appeared to have no physical wounds, but the Doctor knew that there could be severe mental wounds. He took his sonic screwdriver from his pocket and examined Rose’s head. He could see scars from the Psyclon’s doings, but none that would not heal. He heaved a deep sigh of relief. He knew Rose would need time to recover before she could return fully to reality, but at least he knew she would return.
