I didn't see a post about this, so I had to make my own. I was in Barnes & Noble the other day. I always have to check out the young adult section and see what new books they have. As I was browsing the titles, one popped out and grabbed me. I stared at it for a few moments before pulling the book off the shelf and looking at the front cover. I stared at that for a few more moments before opening the book to read the summary. I then stood in stunned silence for a minute or so. I couldn't believe that there was actually a book that was published that was made entirely of txt-tlk IMs. eek Entirely. I opened it and looked. I even tried to read part of it, but could only deal with a few sentences before I had to stop. Not only is there a book published, but it has sequels. Sequels. burning_eyes The three books are ttyl, l8r, g8r, and ttfn. Don't believe me? Click on the link to see the Amazon page for ttyl and see for yourself. I had to share with people who would understand what I was going through when I discovered these books. crying

I wasn't all that shocked when I saw it.
I was saddened, however, to see many of my dear friends, actually READING it! domokun

I'll only say this. When I looked at it at my Barnes & Noble, I turned the other way.

Perhaps the publisher has adopted an "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" strategy. I really can't see many txt-tlkers going out and buying books written in normal English, so it might be a plan to get books into their hands and therefore bring sales up. xp
Actually, I can't see many txt-talkers going to Barnes & Noble at all, so the concept of such a book being for sale there seems rather ridiculous. And I really like to believe that there are enough literate people in the world that the industry doesn't suffer. It keeps me sane. That such a book is being sold, however, seems to suggest otherwise. I think it's pretty scary that some publisher actually saw a market for that sort of thing... gonk

I've seen those. They scare me. But, alas, the literate-people books (such as Jane Eyre, which I just got) just ten steps away.

I believe in Jesus Christ, my Savior. If you do too, and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this into your signature. Another example of the sorry state of our culture.

The books are good, great in fact. It really doesn't have all that much txt-tlk. Also, the main point of the books are deffiantly is not txt-tlk so just don't read it if you don't want to.
