ooc: Hurray for the first thread! Hopefully this can serve as an example as well as the catalyst for the forum. biggrin Hopefully it should be easy to catch on to. I'm not saying I'm the best, but role playing is something I've been doing for a while. So hopefully I'm a good person to follow. biggrin
Studio 101, one of the small dance studios, was free of dancers at the moment. It would probably remain so until midday when all the new students arrived for the start of fall quarter. Estelle Volaju, a junior at the prestiges Dance Academy, decided it would be a good time to warm up so she'd be ready for barre.
She entered the dark room, flipping the lightswitch with a graceful hand as she ungracefully plopped herself down on the floor infront of one of the large mirrors, sitting indian style on the floor. She began rumaging through her green dance bag, looking for her hair kit. Her tongue sticking out the side of her mouth, one hand elbow deep in her bag while the other pushed lightly against her knee; Estelle was a true vision of a lady.
"Ahha!" she shouted, a smile twisting around her lips as she pulled a vinyl purse out of her so-called "Mary Poppins" bag. She began to hum "Spoonful of Sugar" to herself as she began putting her hair into a bun, not knowing that the door was still open and that she was actually quite loud.
ooc: Okay, hopefully that will give the first poster some idea of what they're doing, as well as leave an intro for the first person to walk into the studio. If you have any questions, just post them OOC (out of character).

Leonora was a new student to the Dance Academy. She had finally recieved a scholarship to her dream school and had decided to take a look around lest she get lost on her first day. After all, she was accepted as a sophmore rather than a freshman and felt that she would be behind everyone.
Strangely enough, she heard a distant voice coming from one of the studios. She creeped up to the door to see what was happening.
"Studio 101...is this the haunted room everybody has been talking about?", Leonora whispered to herself. She attempted to step into the room, only to trip over a mysterious unidentified "object" otherwise known as air. A loud scream echoed through the hall, possibly even reaching the dorms, and she stumbled into the studio.

Suddenly, the studio was filled with not only Estelle's humming, but also the scream of an unidentified girl. Estelle was frightened, to say the least, and jumped nearly three feet in the air, turning rapidly to see where the racket was coming from. Her hair, only half pinned, came tumbling down in loose waves, and she held the brush in her hand ready to be used as a beating stick.
When she realized that it was only another girl and NOT the rumored studio ghost, her tension eased, and she felt a smile creeping to her lips.
"Oh my goodness," she began, putting a hand to her chest, "You scared the bejeezus out of me!" Estelle stood, walking over to the girl and offering her a hand up. "Are you all right?"

Ayslinn rushed into the room. ''what's going on'' she yelled. She opened her mouth to scream once more. But then she saw the two girls.
She closed her mouth and smiled unwieldly. ''WOOPS, I didn't know you 2 were here.'' She smiled once again and then suddenly fell to the floor laughing. She couldn't stop, though the other girls in the studio would probably think she was totally out of mind she wasn't able to stop.

Klee walked calmly into the room, not bothering to ask what all of the commotion was about. Her long hair had been plaited neatly and coiled in a crown braid. She bypassed the conversation, opting for making her way to a corner of the room. Ten minutes of walking? Check. Fifteen minutes of jogging? Check. Static and calisthenic stretches? Check. Threes, Sevens, Clicks, and Over drills? No? Well, Suppose I should start. Klee skipped in place, watching her turnout, crossover, and arms in the mirror. Cross hop two three and back-out two three and watch those arms two three...

Leonora was seeing singing birds around her head and suddenely the birds disappeared to see a strange figure standing in front of her offering her a hand. She snapped out of her daze and accepted the hand, seeing as she couldn't melt into the walls or hide in a corner.
"Sorry about that", she spoke sheepishly, "But, I'm fine...this sort of thing... happens... often."
"But, what about the girl rolling on the ground?" she asked the girl who had offered the hand. "She seems to be having a seizure or something?" she questioned, "I hope she's alright!"

Loryanna walked into the studio and looked around. For a small studio, there were a lot of people in it.
"What's everyone looking at? Are they looking at me? What's that girl doing on the floor?" she thought to herself as she walked over to the barre and dropped her bag.
"It's fine with me if they stare" she thought, beggining her exercises. She felt a piece of hair tickling her neck.
"Hair out AGAIN?" she said, not realizing she had said it out loud. She reached into her bag for a clip, then began to attack the stray wisp of dark brown hair.

Ayslinn crawled back up, still smiling she waved at the other girls. ''I'm sorry, this happens to me all the time. I hope to see the studio ghost but it's only a few girls doing there exersises'' Ayslinn shook her head. ''Oh wait, I forgot to introduce myself'' She waved at the girls ''Hi I'm Ayslinn''

OOC: That was great for a first time post! The only thing I would suggest would be to distinguish your characters thoughts from her dialouge a bit more. Like using italics for thoughts instead of quotes.
Estelle smiled, the kind of smile that accompanies such thoughts as, I'm in a room full of crazies. Nevertheless, she was smiling, and she thought it would be prudent to introduce herself.
"I'm Estelle," she began, looking first at the girl she had helped up, then at the girl who had introduced herself as Ayslinn. "The studio ghost is pretty elusive. You have a better chance of catching the theater ghost." she snicker slightly, not in a very ladylike manner, and then sat herself down on the floor and started playing with her hair again.
"I was going to do a quick warm-up before class," she said, pins stuck in her mouth, "Anyone want to join me?"

"Hi, I'm Leonora," she said to everyone, "sorry about the commotion I caused!" She felt a bit akward, standing in her normal street clothes.
"I'll just leave now, I'm actually a new student, so I'm not sure if I should be dancing in the studio just yet," she stated, "not to mention I don't have any ballet clothes on."

"Well, it may not be obvious to some people, but my name is Loryanna" said Loryanna, pointing at leotard which had 'Loryanna' printed on it in light pink "Leonora, if you want I can show you around later. Unless, you've already been shown around??" Loryanna looked unsure.
Don't, don't, don't muck this up. she told herself This Leonora girl could be interesting
"I'll join you in your warm-up, Estelle." said Loryanna, moving over to stand beside Estelle.

Klee snickered at the idea of warming up for a ballet class. They start out with "barre", right? Well, then what's the point of warming up for a warm up? Honestly. It's pathetic. She did not join the other girls in warm ups. She kept herself busy with practicing a few trick steps. Turn out back foot on point-changes. Neaten feet on rocks. Watch your landing on your butterflies. Sharper movements on bicycles.

Leonora turned to the girl who had introduced herself as "Loryanna" and had a bashful smie on her face.
"That would be wonderful if you could", she said, "I haven't had much luck looking around, I've basically have been getting lost this whole entire time."
If this were an anime, Leonora would have been drawn with a sweat drop. But, alas, anime it is not, so she just kept the embaressed smile on her face.

Eh well, I'll join you. Ayslinn smiled and headed over to the middle of the room. She sat down to do some streches.
She observed everyone in the room quietly. She knew a few of them would be great friends.
