Being the newb here, I hesitate to say too much of course, but these are my impressions thusfar:
They're getting greedy. It's little things that tell me, like the way announcements are worded, and the Quests that look like they took about 5 minutes of effort and are tied into absolutely ridiculous things. Don't be surprised if the price of the "monthly collectibles" goes up to $5 soon. This happens to most websites sooner or later, it's not the end of the world, just another step towards it.
And I was SO lost when they cut the navigation bar. I'd JUST gotten to the point of knowing what the hell I was doing when they pulled it, I still don't see why, it was rather a nice interface, I thought. Stupid, really.
Still, ultimately what you said here:
Quote:
"The only real reason I have is that some of my friends I only talk to on here, if it weren't for the community that this place has become I would have left..."
Is the main point. No site will ever be perfect, they'll always be either greedy and grasping for more, or underfunded and completely apathetic about addressing the needs of the browsers. It's about the people on the site and having fun with them.
Two notes:
1- What purpose do the mods serve, anyway? I've seen very little moderation of the stuff that's supposed to be ban-worthy, according to the ToS as I read them. Just for fun earlier on I reported a room on the Fishing game called "Cyber Sex Palace." It was still there two hours later.
2- You've probably heard this before, but seriously, get Firefox. It's free, easy to learn, runs more smoothly than IE, and has a lot of REALLY nice add-ons. Like the one that prevents me from seeing a single banner or ad anywhere on the site. XD And I'm not like a linux-geek or anything either, I just downloaded it myself a week ago and I was converted by the fourth hour.
