If I recall correctly, before those quick links, the dark blue bar under the header worked *exactly* like this does now, meaning they took that away from us and gave us the quick links, then they took away the quick links and gave us the blue bar back.
In fact, the only difference between now and then is that, instead of a speech bubble with one event, the speech bubble contains many more.

Deja vu, the feeling like you've seen this layout before... it's a glitch in the GaiaOnline... it means they changed something...
