hello, all ^^ this thread is for the general discussion of the manga series by Mineko Ohkami, Dragon Knights. it's been my favorite manga series for several years, but only now am i actually getting back into it... in any case, for those who were checking this out without knowing about the series, here is some basic information (if anyone wants this to also be an info thread, i dont mind making little mini character profiles. it'll take a while, but i'll do it~ in fact, i think i will)
Dragon Knights follows the stories of the 3 dragon knights (go figure, eh?), Rath Illuser (dragon knight of fire, though he's really supposed to have the light dragon), Thatz (dragon knight of earth), and Rune (dragon knight of water). They work for the Dragon Lord, Lord Lykouleon, and none of the 3 of them were originally from the Dragon tribe-- but i'm not spoiling what they all really are! Dragon Knights gets into a bunch of sidestories, following the knights individually as they wind up doing different things at times, and the cast gets rather expansive.... it went from 6 people in volume 2 to being 2 full pages by volume 12 or so (with additions of more characters every now and then). It's supposed to be a fantasy/comedy, but it gets so angsty at times (and other times just depressing--- like when Alfeegi dies... spoiler XD).
heart i just love this series! so if you do too, please, by all means, discuss away. but first....
Favorite dragon knight: Rath
Favorite villian: Kharl
Favorite other character: Saabel (he aint so evil, so i dont consider him a villian XD)
Favorite pairing: Gil/Laam

((under construction)) (many pictures courtesy of a fansite found via google. thank you!) The Knights Rath, Dragon Knight of Fire. Rath Illuser grew up at the palace in Draqueen and is the only successor to the throne as Dragon Lord. He's obsessed with killing demons-- though he is part demon himself, his soul having been created by the renkin wizard Kharl. Knowing his past, Rath tries to avoid getting close to others and seems to hate himself for what he is. Rune, Dragon Knight of Water Rune is an elf prince turned Dragon Knight and still has his healing powers (didn't at first, but regained them again eventually). He harbors the power of the demon fish Varawoo inside of him. Rune is.... extremely girly... but as an elf, that kind of makes sense. He's got a bit of a temper, but of the 3 knights he is the most rational in a stressful situation. He is married to Tintlet. Thatz, Dragon Knight of Earth An ex-thief, Thatz is the only one of the knights who was previously human. He was also the last of the 3 to join up with the team. A true glutton for food, money, treasure, and the like. Oh yeah, he's also incredibly lazy. But he's got a good heart. Usually his plans don't exactly work out too well... Dragon Officers Alfeegi, White Dragon Officer and Secretary Alfeegi is ( or was, rather gonk ) pretty stubborn and is very strict with the others in the palace, even the Dragon Lord! Quite a miser, but a good person with a very strong will. Incredibly keen, on the inside he cares about the others very much despite the fact that he yells a lot. ( rest in peace Alfeegi, you are missed very much.) Ruwalk, Yellow Dragon Officer A close friend to the Dragon Lord, Ruwalk tends to get in trouble with Alfeegi often for helping Rath (Lykouleon too, on occasion) sneak out of the castle and giving Kaistern extra money. But he is really a very kind person, just a bit.... childish. He's the one who gave Rath his last name-- Illuser. Small-Time Villians

Favorite pairing: Rath/Rune; Kharl/Garfakcy (they are about even with each other)
it's an interesting little series - not a personal favorite of mine, but it's an amusing read; Draqueen -snickers- that never is un-amusing

Draqueen IS quite an amusing name, isnt it? i find it funny that Rune is your favorite, yet he's of water and Rath is my favorite yet he's of fire~ its usually the other way around for us, isnt it? but whatever. i love them both about the same, but if i HAD to choose one i'd choose Rath just cuz i would... though Rune IS awesome heart gotta love the elf (it kind of doesnt make sense, how come the ELF isnt my favorite? i mean.... REALLY XD)

On a strictly power/physical basis - I love Rath more; but on a personality basis - I gotta go for Rune -nods- I guess for you it just is the other way around

even personality i would normally love someone like Rune more... i guess i love Rath just a tiny bit more because i feel bad for him after all he's gone through, so im drawn to him just a little more... but whatever blaugh ive noticed that i like Rune better (for whatever unknown reason) in the volumes im reading now, where his hair is shorter and straighter XD i dont know WHY that makes me suddenly like him more but it does...
oh, and something funny youll notice if you pay attention throughout the volumes.... Rune wears high heeled boots *snickers* i dont know if he does all the time, but he does often at the very least 3nodding

there isnt all that much logic behind most of the things in this series... i mean yeah, the plot is super-intricate and sometimes things happen that confuse you (like when they meet Pyore again, was that really necessary?) but yeah logic is something that sometimes cant be found... then again, other times there's so much logic its freaky. like some of the stuff with Rath's past or a couple really weird quirks on the political end of things (spoiler: like Nadil being the Wind Dragon Knight, but obviously NOT being on the good side and even creating his own side... if he was on the good side or if the wind dragon chose another knight, things would be FINE but no he had to go ruin the balance...)
