Disobediance was never to be tolerated. Never. Loyalties determined the victors of war, and for Meskeet, war was life. She couldn't risk being failed by those she had chosen to count on. Oh, damn. Why did she even bother?

She knew perfectly well where to look to find those who would be loyal to her until death. Why she had bothered to consider her son one of them, she could only wonder.

Dorian was perfectly fine. He could be easily useful. Katana? She was a flop. The regrettable product of what should never have been. Lestat? Well s**t. He was a little brat that was getting too bold for his own good.

A son that acted against her was not a son she needed. Especially with her body in its currently ruined state.

Children. The roots of all her undoings.

All she could do was build Reese into what she wanted. Beat Keegan into what he needed. And leave the two of them to force Bree into whatever she should become.

But not Lestat. Lestat carried far too many similarities to Meskeet herself, and none of the ones she wanted. He, she would have to break.

Nothing in life came free. With everything you were granted, there was something you in turn would owe.

Xipetotec had learned this as a pup. He had carried this with him all through his life, and when it came to Meskeet, it was something he was constantly reminded of.

While he got to derive pleasure every time he looked at her, as he saw the scar she bore upon her face that he himself had put there, he also remembered vividly the night in which he gave it. And the mind-numbing trouble she sent his mind into.

When Meskeet gave him the foundation of a pack, he knew very well the terms with which he was receiving it. They may have all been present for him to rule over, but they still had to leap from him to do the seer's bidding.

He was no exception.

Things could have been worse. At least by acknowleding this, he would not have to fear the vile seer using him as a puppet. Even he could consent without having to be forced, if it meant he could act on his own free will.

So as he stood in the darkness with the unusually delighted Meskeet, he was fully prepared to do whatever was expected of him.

Yet Nelos was perhaps the only wolfess who was far from alert to the givings and takings of life.

To Nelos, everything was what Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie Ophelia made it. There was good, without bad. There was happiness, without remorse. Life was in the clouds. Where she had nothing to trip over. It could have continued as such, if she hadn't become so fond of drifting near earth, so she could be in the company of a wolf so burdened by what he had become to know, that all he could give her was trouble that could send her world crashing down.

The two of them were, as of yet, unaware of this most upsetting fact, though Lestat was beginning to get a vague notion. His months on this earth were revealing their filthy secrets. As a result, he felt most compelled to search out his greatest poison.

Meskeet.

The mother that never was. She had a dark something about her, that he had as of yet failed to touch on. A whole life and list of reasons, that he knew nothing of. But he knew perhaps the most important thing at this point in time, that she would ruin his life at any given time. And what was to stop her from turning on Nelos as well?

Things were what you made them. Alianne's old life had been based on the control every other creature had. For she had lacked any sort of helpful strength or power, and had been simply a pawn forced around by the motives of others. Even her family. But she was not stupid. She recognized potential when she saw it. And in Meskeet, she saw what she could be.

Aware of the kind of ranking she could someday have. Blind to the horrible things she had been forced to do to get where she was. Hungry for the joys she could someday live, Alianne was exactly what she had hated to be. The perfect pawn.

Eyes fixated on the wolf below her, body poised, the white adolescent knew perfectly well what she had to do tonight. As the moon rose high in the night air, her body seemed illuminated as she stood carefully at the cliff's edge.

Her target was Lestat, the young male she had seen only a handful of times before. While she bore no harsh feelings towards him, as he had often helped to alleviate her troubles with Kraken, he was nothing to her now. Just a wolf. Just Lestat.

And because he was Lestat, she also knew he would do exactly as she wanted him too. And he did.

As Io the crow flew low over Lestat's head, the male could feel the birds jagged wing tips slide over his ears and up towards the cliffs. Following the bird with narrowed eyes he saw the white female's form in the night.

He couldn't say for sure why he climbed the cliffs towards her, or why it meant so much to him that he follow her. Yet as his yellow eyes watched her with growing suspicion, he continued to trot quietly behind her with his whole body tense.

Io the crow. Meskeet's crow. Meskeet was here.

As the significantly younger male's dark coat appeared under the moon's soft light, Xipetotec sunk further back into the shadows. There was a light breeze tonight, as Meskeet said there would be. And just as Meskeet had instructed him too, the earless alpha crouched low in the brush down wind, while the seer's sent drifted carelessly down towards the sense of Alianne and Lestat.

Blood, death, and tension. It was unmistakeably his mother. "I know about Reese."

He said it as hottily as he could. Hoping it would give him, perhaps, some leverage.

He knew it wouldn't really, but at least she would know he wasn't completely in the dark about all her musings.

As he raised his own yellow eyes to match her intent stare the world around him seemed to fade away into the darkness. As Alianne slipped quietly off to the side to watch and wait for her turn again, Io switched his weight impatiently from side to side.

Xipetotec sprang forward and pinned Lestat to the ground with ease and the alpha used all his strength and weight to wrestle the darker male to the ground while Meskeet slunk between the trees and paused before them.

"How fascinating." She drawled, her voice low. "And what help does that grant you?"

Trystan had experienced enough to understand when there was going to be trouble. Having grown up with the havoc causing siblings that he did, these messes were nothing new.

Out of all of his family members though, he was the only one that had to follow a few of his siblings to continually clean up their messes. As a pup it was something he tended to avoid. As a teen it was something he had become ashamed of, and thus made up for by attempting to fix whatever Xipetotec or Coatlicue had done. As an adult, it was more of a career.

Damn them.

It wasn't an easy task, but his duties had at least lessened with the disappearance of his only sister, whom he could only assume was dead. Coatlicue, he loved her, but more so in death than when she was alive to terrorize him.

Xipetotec however, left disasters miles wide. It wasn't the fights or deaths so much that bothered him, or took the longest. It was all the females and puppies. What they ever saw in him was anyone's guess. Especially since Xipe himself was not shy about his sexist views.

But Trystan didn't want to spend his whole life making up for the things his brother had done wrong. Life was too short for that, and he felt it was the reason that he himself had no one to settle down with, or any place to go too.

Because Xipetotec ruined everything. And it just wasn't right.

Meskeet too, the red male knew, would be just as efficient in upsetting things. And Xipetotec and Meskeet combined were nothing short of causing the most unruly events thinkable. When he found both of them together, he knew it was only a short matter of time before he would have his chance to intervene, and prevent another world from coming crashing down.

Fangs sinking further and further down as the male's determination grew, Trystan was surprisingly successful in dragging Xipetotec off of Lestat. And even better at improving the size of Meskeet's scowl.

"You filthy piece of meat." She swore, as Xipetotec quickly forgot Lestat and turned his attention to seeing just how badly he could rip Trystan to ribbons. Trystan was equally up to the challenge.

And that left Alianne and Meskeet to deal with Lestat. As they lept for him, they met surprisingly resistance that Meskeet herself had not expected. Had she not been so deeply rooted in Lestat's mind, she would have seen Nelos and Mable.

God damn!

As Mable tumbled Alianne to the ground in what might have been her first ever assault on anyone, Nelos lept snarling at Meskeet's neck and shoulder, while Lestat attempted to drag her down by her feet.

And so the scuffle continued, neither side willing to give up. Xipetotec himself was busy fending off the attacks of the once docile Trystan. Alianne attempting to escape from Mable long enough to get at Nelos or Lestat.
Lestat utterly baffled as to why Mable was present, and wondering if Nelos had followed him.
Io screaching and clawing at Nelos's face.
Nelos becoming quite upset with the state of things, but continuing anyway.
And Meskeet utterly pissed off.

One couldn't say for sure how long it all lasted, but the results were simple enough.
The dieing night sky saw Xipetotec chasing his brother, and the others off of the packlands. Alianne fled long before, to retreat to the safety of her den. She knew she was in for a reprimand as soon as Meskeet returned. Or worse, she would be utterly shunned by the seer and the alpha. Neither she was looking forward too, but couldn't avoid.

Teeth gritted tightly Meskeet climbed rapidly over large rocks and up the stony side of yet another cliff. If Lestat hadn't been such a damn pansy she wouldn't have had to worry about him taking flight once it had come down to a mental fight between the two of them. Mental or not, Meskeet wanted to see his anguished body, and thus pursued him with a passion.

Anotsomotherlypassionatthat.

Growling as the rock she lept atop began to tumble downwards, the seer sprang towards the nearest ledge. She had by now gone so far as to have left her own packlands, and she really didn't care enough about other wolves to wonder just were it was that she was scrambling about as the sun threatened to being its rise. Heaving her body up the side and pausing a moment against the cold stone she felt her body go numb as she stared up into a pair of looming slitted eyes.
