Inari stretched his legs, peered around with his golden hues. SO much had happened so far with him, so much, yet he still didn't have a full mane, was still not an adult, still probably not strong enough to go find Mrost and show him what he had become thus far. He scraped his paw against the earth beneath his paws and padded along the borders. Tempted to venture out and find Mrost now rather then later. But what would happen if he went to find him, and couldn't, or went to find him, and Mrost was displeased?

Both, weren't very good options in his eyes.

Inari sighed, his light brown fur of a mane falling into his view as he watched the horizon for the silhouette of the blue god of War he looked up to. So much had happened to him thus far, so much, yet not much at all.

Kei had spent the past few nights along the border of the pridelands, observing what he could from such a distance. He refused to venture any closer, out of sheer stubborness and excuse. The male still thought back to his childhood conversations with his mother. She had played such a great role in his life and had only ever offered him sound advice, but at this moment, he was unsure. Had she made a mistake? Kei was nearly certain that even if accepted, the pridelands authority would not tolerate his questioning. What if a second plague swept the pride? Would the King and Queen allow their kind to merely run, or would they have some sort of solution?

At the thought, Kei began to pace back and forth. The King and Queen. What made these two lions so important? How could the past King and Queen allow such a disaster to occur? To take over the pride and destroy multiple lives and families?

Kei could not remember the face of his father.

His mother spoke little to nothing about him, though when Kei questioned, he felt his mother's pain flow over him. Had he been killed by the plague, or had he left?

Something caught his eyes, and they narrowed. So many had come by here, affected his judgment, talked to him, spoke to him, preached to him. Inari would not let some rogue go un-noticed and walk away, just from what had happened recently. He huffed, and padded in the rogues direction now, golden hues focusing on the other ..other male. yes, there was a mane about him. Darker pelt in color though, he raised a brow as he drew closer, why was he venturing so close, but not crossing the line?

Inari stood on his pride ground, line drawn between him and this other male who dwelled upon the other side, "Who are you? What is your business here," Inari said, watching, waiting, tail flicking from side to side. If this rogue would cause trouble, Inari would see fit that he would defend his home.

In thought, it took Kei a moment to realise that someone was coming at him. And once he had begun to pay more attention, he realised it was at a rather quick speed. Now sure that he was aiming for him, Kei stood upright and prepared for any kind of attack this male might inflict. He was running straight from the pridelands. Perhaps Kei's presense had distrubed some balance between them inside? The male was ready to leave the borders, though did not wish to do so if it was not required of him.

Prepared for the male to either speak or attack, Kei was taken back when the male demanded his name and his bussiness. Pacing now, Kei narrowed his eyes on the opposing male, "Am I walking on Prideland territory? Perhaps, an inch too close for comfort?" Kei's tone was challenging as though something about the male's demanding behavior had inspired something within him. "I am Kei, rogue lion. My bussiness, however, is my own. I see no reason to explain myself to you."

Inari kept his head high, flicked his tail almost in a thrashing manner and kept his golden hues settled on this rogue male, was he challenging him, challenging him, Inari, the warrior to be under the god of war himself? Really, this male had no idea what he was getting into, Inari lived in the prideands, here, he would protect them.

"Do not be coy with me stranger," he said simply, "Well then Kei, our business may be your own, but if it must deal with lurking on the prideland borders in a suspicious way, your business becomes mine, and the entire prides."

Kei, in all honestly, was simply looking for a friend in which he heard had an interest in the pridelands. His friend was a rogue lioness, though she often ventured along the border of the pridelands. Having had no success in finding her, Kei had remained where he was, hoping that she would return to him and they might speak again. Having been confronted by this male, Kei only narrowed his eyes, determined to keep his bussiness his own. If this male wanted a fight, Kei would not hold it against him.

Inari's voice only seemed to enfuriate Kei even further. Pacing near the large prideland male, Kei's voice was deep and gruff, "I do not find my meandering suspicious and so we would have a difference of opinion, pridelander." In a way, Kei understood that the male would wish to protect his family and friends, though the darker male found that his manner in which he chose to do it was not quite appropriete. Turning away from Inari, as though the other was not worthy of his face, Kei took a few steps, but kept near the prideland border, "I do not plan to leave."

"If you don't plan to leave you plan to join, if you don't plan to join but don't plan on leaving, you're going to have a serious problem my friend," Inri said with a sneer, watching him with golden hues He huffed, swayed his tail and took a few steps. "I warn you, do not try to be coy or stupid here," rogues that wandered in that were suspicious were watched very, very closely.

"If you plan to join the pride, then find the queen, if not, stay outside the borders," Inari walked on further, annoyed by him, he acted as if he was so riteous, but what did he know of pride and honor anyway?

Kei listened to what Inari said, but kept his back facing him. The male was rather proud and pompous. The dark colored male with the silvery mane wondered if all pridelanders shared his same attitude. If that was the case, then Kei was confused as to why Shiri would wish to join. Why did she leave him in order to become friends with lions like this idiot? Kei growled to himself, rather frustrated with the entire scenario playing out before him. Why hadn't Shiri told him?

To break the awkward silence, Kei decided that it would do no harm to respond to the pridelander guard. "I do not plan to join and you have only reinforced my thoughts on the pridelands. Do you believe that your treatment is what is required of you? If I was a threat, perhaps I would have attacked earlier?" Kei's ears remained flat and his claws were extended, digging into the soft soil beneath him. Inari had hit many nerves and the state he was already in was not helping.

Kei could easily explain his situation and have Inari stop bothering him, but the dark male did not believe that the pridelander deserved his truth. The prideland pride simply brought pain to Kei's mind. The thought of his mother..

Inari chuckled, stopped and turned to face him. This male, black male though that he was so grand, so strong, Inari was a warrior, a warrior, trained by the god of war himself, what could this male do to him, honestly? "If you don't wish to join, again, I don't know why yo're here. Maybe ghosts of your past plague you, but you still ahve to understand, we are protective of our pridemembers, of this place, we have a right to be wary of others, at least you have to be able to understand that much."

Strange male.

Couldn't he just let his frustrations go?

Kei absolutely loathed how the male before him spoke. He understood the protection, but surely Inari understood a rogue's curiosity of the pridelands. How could they accept new members if they did not offer open paws and kindness towards other lions? Kei did not expect that much from him, or any others of the pridelands. They had left his mother to die without even bothering to check if she was in need. His brothers lives were sacrificed because of the neglect of the pridelands.

Growling again, Kei continued to pace. He remained silent to Inari and yet many thoughts continued to roam his mind. With frustration towards Shiri, anger towards Inari and a vengeance towards the pridelands, Kei could be a dangerous lion.

He knew not that Inari was trained by the God of War and simply this did not face Kei. He had fought a great deal of rogues and had even fought larger numbers of rogues. A life in the roguelands had certainly had Kei into a calloused male.

"Again. I do not wish to join. I mean you no harm. I am here on my own bussiness."

Inari watched him idely, and turned from him, shrugged his shoulders, "Then go upon your business then, just know, others will be watching you as well, not only me," that he knew. Inari knew of all the scouts that patrolled hte pridelands borders, Kei wouldn't ever really be alone within the pridelands.

"Just be wary," he was done there, so he walked on.

Strange male, did he know what he just could ahve gotten himself into?

Kei was glad to hear that the male would be leaving on his way. When Inaria turned, the male's claws finally retracted and he seemed a bit more at ease. Many of his memories fled his mind just as the lion had. Kei had become so tense, so quickly, that he was not even aware of the extent until he relaxed.

Inari's final piece of advice was simply ignored when he left. Kei stopped pacing and watched as the large male disappeared back into the pridelands. He did not feel as though he had won, but simply as though he had broke even. Neither male had backed down, or given any type of respect towards the other.

When all was said and done, Kei realised that Inari could have been someone to question regarding Shiri. Filled with anger, the male turned on his heal and returend to the roguelands. He had been foolish to think he could find answers on prideland soil!
