Celeste had claimed a corner of the exercise yard as her own. She brooded, glaring passively at the guards if they dared look at her. How could they keep her caged up like this? She needed to be free. If her wing weren't broken, she'd simply fly right over that fence and back to her nest. Her babies...were they okay? She had no idea and the mere thought that they were out in the forest, alone and without her protection was driving her mad.
Her wing had been set and wrapped while she was unconscious, apparently. She'd originally woken up in a strange, white box. Only a big box. Then humans came into the room with a funny-looking black ball. Next thing she knew, she was outside, but still inside this silly fence. She was disoriented, confused, and frantic with worry about her offspring.
Not a happy Pidgeot.

A Dark Pokemon padded slowly toward the injured Pidgeot, bearing her teeth in silent anger toward the guards as she passed. She took her time -the other was definitely larger than she, and with such an injury, likely disgruntled. Not to mention she smelled of grief and concern. Being stuck behind the walls wouldn't help that at all. The Absol idlely wondered why the bird-type was destined for such misery as she treaded closer.
Having been on her best behavior, Bliss restrained herself enough to convince the guards that she could behave herself and was ready to be let out. Restraining herself meant only being able to lash out against a miniscule number of humans, though. She could always make up for it later.
She stopped herself right before she thought she was getting too close. She'd learned from her encounter with that Gyarados to make sure to stay as far away as possible when dealing with potentially dangerous Pokemon.

Celeste's head twitched towards the Absol, golden eyes flashing as they locked onto the Dark Pokemon. Her babies! They were in danger!
Wait...no. Her eyes dulled just a bit as she forced her instincts to relax. Her babies weren't here. This Pokemon hadn't threatened her young. Not yet at least.
Celeste's gaze shifted towards the ground. She needed to learn not to jump at every living thing as if it were a threat. Especially in her current condition. Given the situation, she might need help getting out of here in order to resume protecting her young and she didn't need to alienate everyone.
Afterall, who knew? Perhaps this Absol was nice. Not all Dark Pokemon were bad, nor Absols. Stereotypes were horrible things and the Pidgeot hated when individuals couldn't bother to get to know a particular person before making judgements on them. It made no sense.
'Hello,' she greeted the other Pokemon, softly. She didn't want to seem too forward, but she didn't want to appear anti-social or distant either.

Bliss kept herself from advancing any further. If she was lucky, maybe she could get close enough to find out why the scent was so heavy in this one. Though it didn't not particularly matter whether the Pigeot was coming from or going into great tragedy, the Absol's curiosity propelled her to wonder.
Blood-red eyes connected with the golden ones, not breaking away from the stare until the other pair did. She tried hide as much as she could in her glance. Still, she could help but reveal certain aspects of herself. Especially her anger toward everything about the facility. Her paws stayed still, not risking moving closer to the other just yet.
"Hello." She returned simply, bowing her head in a slight motion to Celeste. How long had she been there? Longer than the Absol, or was she new? Who could tell, especially after being holed up in that maddening prison for so long.

While relieved that her greeting had been returned, Celeste's relief was tempered by what she had seen in the Absol's eyes. Fury. Pure, unbridled fury...and yet, it was as if this anger were also unchanneled. There was no direction in which to focus this energy, so she stored it inside, constantly building with no outlet, seen only through her eyes when she dared to meet another's gaze...
...but what could be read in her own golden orbs?
The thought was sobering. Celeste realized she had been staring at the ground for some time now and hurried to return the Absol's nod of greeting. Taking a second look at the Dark Pokemon, the Pidgeot noted that while she wore an aura of maturity, she was still younger than herself. Perhaps young enough she could be considered Celeste's own child...if she were a Pidgeot, of course.
Maternal instincts kicking in, her gaze softened considerably. "It is a pleasure to meet you, despite the current circumstances. Might I be so bold as to ask how you found yourself here? Were you wounded, perhaps, as I was?" She could think of no other reason that a Pokemon like herself would find themselves in a human facility like this. Not that she had any idea of what this place was or what it was for just yet.

Bliss kept her manners showing the most that she possibly could. Eyes still burning behind her faux patient exterior, the Absol found it hard to not insert certain words of hatred toward the humans. Who knew if this one was on their side or not. Peering at the unfocused golden eyes from below, she made out what she could. Pain and suffering was obvious enough -but why? Was it a Pokemon's fault, or a human's, or something else entirely?
It pained her even more not to ask. She contented herself with the fact that if she kept the Pidgeot talking, then she might get the information that she wanted.
"If you wish to know the story, I'll be more than glad to tell it." She offered the grieved mother. "I was wounded in the process, but initially, there was another reason for them to come after me." Her claws looked hideous -unlike before, when she was free, she had found no time at all to clean them. "They left marks and bruises. Nothing even close to what has happened to you, I'm assuming."

Celeste looked concerned, though she tilted her head in confusion. "I'm afraid I don't completely understand. Who is this 'they' that you say came after you? And what reason would they have to consciously harm a Pokemon?"
The idea wasn't entirely foreign to her, of course. She was fairly certain that the humans were responsible for the disappearance of her mate, Talon. She knew that if there were any way possible, he would have returned to her long ago, so she'd had to deal with the reality of his death at the hands of the human creatures. She had no idea why they would do such a thing, but she had warned him to stay far away from them. He'd been over-confident, sure he could escape them if need be. Plus, food was scarce that season...he'd had to expand his hunting grounds towards the humans' strange white box. It wasn't as if he'd had much choice, if he still wanted to support his family.
"I was not brought here by humans, if that is what you're implying," Celeste finally admitted softly. "I was protecting my nest. Somehow, I found myself in an aerial battle above this very space with a male Fearow. I couldn't let him harm my babies... Unfortunately, I don't remember much of the battle itself," she sighed sadly, eyes turning towards the ground. "The last thing I remember is a horrible crack and excutiating pain as I hit the ground. Then some human tried to approach me...I panicked and I think I may have slashed him rather badly." She paused, ashamed. "Now that I've had time to think, I wonder if he was only trying to help. I hope I didn't hurt the poor boy too seriously..."
Even across species, her maternal instinct kicked in strongly. He couldn't have been more than a young boy...and he was someone's son. She couldn't bare the thought that she might have seriously hurt him...

"The 'they?'" Bliss looked at her, confused for a moment. She had thought it obvious. "The humans, of course. Not just any humans, either. I'm sure that they work here."
Through the Pigdeot's short story, the Absol stayed quiet, listening. It wasn't very much like hers -in the end, the human might have only been trying to help her. But she was brought by him to the facility, no doubt. And if she was being held with the captured Pokemon... Then her fate was likely the same as theirs. Now she understood what that scent was. "I wonder what the fate of your babies was." No doubt something had happened to them. The only question was what it was.
"Unlike you, I haven't lived on this island very long. Actually, before this, I lived near a mountain, as well as a human city. I never did know what they called it. Nor do I care. I never came upon one of the inhabitants of the city. But apparently, they came upon me, accusing me of destroying their way of life on more than one occasion. If I were there now, I might be destroying, rampaging, whatever they blamed on me. But back then, I had nothing against the humans. They left me be, and I made sure to leave them alone. For some reason, however, they believed I was attacking them. I can only assume that they are the ones who brought these humans to get rid of me." She paused, recalling angrily the cowardly way they had surrounded her. "I found out a short time before they called in a group to get me what was truly going on. A few ghost pokemon invaded the city -and the forest, which is how I caught them. The thought me to be the perfect scapegoat, and using illusions, tricked and taunted the people."
"Needless to say, it worked well."

While she remained silent for the Absol's story, Celeste cooed sadly as she finished, shaking her head slightly. "That's horrible! You poor thing...treated so badly, and wrongfully accused to top matters off! I suppose some Ghost Pokemon's parents' certainly didn't do their jobs very well," she finished with a tone of bitterness.
It was a terrible thing when good Pokemon chose the wrong path, siding with wickedness over good. And it was so hard to help them return to the light once they started down the path of darkness.
"I'm sorry...forgive me for not introducing myself formally earlier." Celeste dipped her head, sweeping out her healthy wing in a polite bow. "My name is Celeste."
Her mind was whirling with the possibilities brought on by the Absol's casual statement about her babies. She was trying her best not to dwell on the matter, since she couldn't do anything about it as is and would only drive herself mad with worry if she focused on it for too long. Such horrid thoughts were better left alone and shoved to the back of her mind.

Bliss did her best not to change her visible emotional state throughout her story. When she had finished and the Pidgeot had commented, however, something struck her inwardly. As if in pain, she winced momentarily before regaining her composure. "It's not that bad. You shouldn't feel pity or anything of the sort because of my misfortune -after all, I'm supposed to see tragedy, and that includes my own." She said coldly, looking away with a scowl.
It had been a bad idea to bring it up, after all. The Absol had thought by this time she was completely past the feelings other than anger. Apparently, she'd just buried them back then. She proceeded in doing so again now. Turning back to the bird pokemon, she made her scowl shrink. "I apologize, as well. I should have said as much before, but my name is Bliss."

'It is a pleasure to meet you, Bliss,' Celeste murmured softly, nodding her head politely. 'However, I cannot believe that you would be destined to experience tragedy simply because of who you are. Fate cannot be so cruel as to punish one for being born.'
Her sharp eyes had not missed the momentary flaw in Bliss' otherwise perfect display of composure. Although she could not simply put aside her worry for her offspring, her heart ached for the young female before her. She wished she could offer her some form of comfort, but at the same time, she could tell that it would not be warmly received, and so she refrained.
Instead, she thought a change of topic would be a better offered form of mercy. 'I assume you've already begun testing the humans' defenses. Any ideas on how a flightless bird of prey might be able to escape from this rather large cage?'

"Fate must apparently just not like my kind, then." The Absol said coldly. "I'm not sure how much you know about Disaster Pokemon, but let me tell you one thing. We are meant to know terrible things before they happen, yet cannot do a thing to stop them. Instead, we flock to the area of misfortune. If Fate is in charge of everything, then it led me to that miserable human village on purpose. If Fate dictates that I will stay here, then I will leave. I don't feel like cooperating with Fate ever again."
"I have started testing how well their defense is set up." 'Started' was an understatement. From the moment she'd gotten there, all Bliss had done was check to see if there were any weak points anywhere in the facility. "And thus far, I have no idea how an enormous, flying orange lizard could escape. They have surviellence, both living and non-living, everywhere. But don't worry, I will find a way."

The answer was disheartening at best, but Celeste tried not to show her disappointment. 'I see,' she murmured, feathers ruffling softly as she rearranged her working wing against her back. 'I suppose there is little I could add to such efforts in my current state.'
Only then did the Absol's words fully sink in. 'Bliss? You said something...about a flying, orange...are you telling me that they are keeping a Charizard here with us?' Golden eyes wide with surprise and disbelief, the Pidgeot female stared at the other Pokemon, waiting for an answer. If these humans were keeping a Charizard here against its will, what hope did she have of escaping here to return to her children?
Very little, she thought with dispair...

"That wing must be a great burden." She commented, glancing at Celeste's wounds before examining her own. As much as she hated to admit it, without proper care, the Pidgeot likely wouldn't last long. And the humans could provide that for her. If she had been left on her own instead of being put in the facility, she likely would not have lasted more than a few days.
Responding to her name, the Absol turned away from her wounds and toward the other Pokemon. "Yes, a Charizard. As well as a Gyarados -a rather violent one, I might add." Her eyes looked around the fenced area. None of her aquaintances were anywhere in the immediate vicinity. "But what, precisely, does the Charizard have to do with you?"

Celeste shook her head lightly in a very human-like gesture. 'Nothing in particular. It's just...if they can keep a Charizard, as well as a Gyarados, here against their will, then what hope do I have? Even healthy, I couldn't hope to compare myself to such ferocious fighters.'
Already sullen mood sinking even further, the Pidgeot seemed to slump, her golden eyes dulling with the loss of hope. When she spoke again, it was so quietly that one couldn't be sure whether she was speaking to Bliss or to herself. 'Is that all there is to it then? It's hopeless? We just...give up on escaping and live out the remainder of our lives in here until we finally give up completely on everything and die? It's a depressing thought...but there don't seem to be many options left to us. Not that I can see at least. Oh, little ones...I only pray that the PokeGods show you all mercy and that you still live. If so...I hope you are led in safety far away from this horrid place...'
She was staring out through the fence towards the forest, sorrowful golden eyes glittering with tears.
Could Pidgeots even cry?
