matt (aka logan) is having a new show on the CW. its called gravity and it stars on june 1st. also, i found this poem i think its cute! and kinda sad.. heart biggrin Let us travel again to that gentle place, Where the world drifts by a sleepy pace. To the strains of “Where you lead, I will follow…” Take us once more back to the town of Stars Hollow. If we could walk the town square so etched in our minds. And see the townspeople, all one of a kind. Or sit in the gazebo, we all know so well, And immerse ourselves in the story Amy used to tell.
There’s Taylor with his obsession for rules, And Gypsy, the mechanic, so skilled with her tools. Here’s Andrew, who works at the local book store, And the vivacious Miss Patty, need anyone say more? Soon who should pass by? Why, none other than Kirk. Reading gas meters in his new line of work. But the one person we all most hope to espy, Is the beguiling, amazing Lorelai.
We can guess where she is at this time of day. So off to Luke’s Diner we make our way. Then through the glass door with its tinkling bell. And there she is, playfully giving Luke hell. She says it’s her business if her eating habits are bad. While Luke grumbles and growls and pretends to be mad. Over her craving for coffee and her lust for pie, The insatiable, caffeinated Lorelai.
Before long she’s joined by daughter Rory. The other half of this wonderful story. We’ve watched her grow from a wide-eyed innocent girl, To an accomplished young woman all set to conquer the world. Gifted but vulnerable, she has not always done right. Yet she’ll forever be Lorelai’s shining light. Soon she’ll be spreading her wings to fly. Only when she’s gone will her mother cry.
From her moment of birth the blue-eyed girl, Has been her mother’s all encompassing world. “Rory comes first,” it’s always been so. And the price Lorelai paid, only she knows. For her daughter’s well being and her own piece of mind, She knew she had to leave her stifling home behind. And so, with no college education or trade, She took a job at an inn and worked as a maid.
Through rejection, hardship, loneliness and fear, Lorelai doggedly struggled year after year, To make her own way, to build her own life. And not merely exist as a scripted wife. She would have lived in comfort had she accepted her role, But, in doing so, she would have forfeited her soul. Better to live in poverty in a potting shed, Than to be unhappy in a satin sheeted bed.
As Lorelai sips her coffee she takes a call, Ignoring glaring Luke’s gesture to the sign on the wall. It’s Emily! Stern and proud, never settling for less. Lorelai’s exasperating “Judgmental Express.” With rolling eyes, daughter listens to her mother, Ramble on about some dull function or other. The call’s a pretense; Emily has little choice, When she longs to hear her only child’s voice.
For oh so long they remained apart, While Emily stoically hid her broken heart. Even now the woman struggles to understand why, She lost her rebellious, vexing Lorelai. But through mother to daughter, and her daughter too, Their blood ties ran stronger than they ever knew. These headstrong denizens of different worlds. Three generations of Gilmore girls.
So many great characters have that we have seen. The smoldering Jess, the unfortunate Dean. The neurotic Paris, whom Rory saw through. The snide Michel and Max Medina too. The fiery Mrs. Kim, her chin raised in a huff, As she haggles over the price of her stuff. Digger Stiles, who lost out twice. And poor Rachel who was so very nice.
Rambling Babette and reticent Morey, The Gilmores’ neighbors in this delightful story. Lane and Sookie, the girls’ best friends, Along with Zack and Jackson, their loving men. And hard working Richard, Lorelai’s dad, At long last so proud of the daughter he had. And so many among us wanted to cry, When “poor sad Luke” lost his Lorelai.
We followed them all for seven great years. Through triumph and pain, laughter and tears. And right from “There She Goes,” at the very start, This truly was an affair of the heart. We all have our favorites that caught our eye. But it would be difficult for anyone to deny, Stars Hollows leading citizen till the day we die, The unconquerable, incomparable Lorelai.
