I don't intend to offend americans. I would just like to say that there are some things that the English version added to Beyblade that some do not approve of since seeing the original japanese version. Rant on
PostPosted: Thu May 17, 2007 5:05 pm

What I honestly don't like is
1. Them cutting some scenes.
2. Changing some lines
ex. TYSON: kai I want you to think that I won fair and square (like that)
takao: Kai I want you to think this as a draw(better for kai fans)
3. Changing the song(I like the japanese songs especially Kai's theme
4. Changing some names( NOT very much though)
ex. Yuri to Tala (Tala is a girl name for wolf)
5. The crazy KAI voice.
ex. In ep 30 kai says in the english version "not for long" in a creepy tone. I like David's voice acting, but this is a bit weird.
6.Annoying commentators (It's fine to me in the first 2 seasons but in a serious moment I like it to be serious and not be cooled down)

I don't know more but ep 30

I actually quite like the english version. I would definitely like to see the Japanese version because I'm told that it is much more serious and involved.

I enjoy watching the teams rip out cheesy one liners and basically say things that they could probably only get away with in a show intended for eight year olds. (Eg. My favourite line to date. "HEY MUM! I BELIEVE IN MYSELF! HOW SUPER-COOL IS THAT?!)

But then again. I -like- things like that. I love YuGiOh (Not that GX crap- the REAL stuff) and am starting to adore TMNT for the same reasons. I like how simple it all is.

Plus the lines are just so... funny.

In you tube they have some of the japanese version. I Can only understand a bit japanese . I wished they had subtitiles. Plus here they dubbed it better but i am the only one who probably watched it. I like won a raffle via text watching it. I was the only one who probably interested and texted.

Oh I wish I could have a subbed copy or even the Filipino copy

I like watching the Raw episodes too. Something about the way everyone says 'Takao' makes me giggle.

I have a friend who's planning to go to Japan after school finishes so I'm sending her on a mission to find me DVDs.

Otherwise there's no help for it. I'll just keep myself amused with How David Reale Kai says 'Johnny' it's so cutting and shiver-making

ex. Yuri to Tala (Tala is a girl name for wolf)

Well, he did act girly at times.
Oh and it's Yuriy. razz

Takao = Tacow? Well, he is a bit of a cow sometimes.

On another forum I go to there is this guy who knew decent Japanese, and he said that the Jpn voices were rather silly as well. Compared to normal conversation... but that's just a thing with kids shows isn't it? (One thing I hate about Australian cartoons is how they stereotype our OWN accent. Ugh)
So all of these people who go 'Jpn is the BEST. ALWAYS' are being pretty stupid considering a lot of them don't even know the language that well.

Zii, please don't generalize those who like the Japanese versions better, because I'm one of those, and I absolutely recent that remark! ESPECIALLY since I'm pretty decent at Japanese.

Sore o hanashite'ta, omae ga manuke da yo. Ore wa Nihongo o wakarimasu to hanashimasu. Ore wa Firipinjin desu ga, demo ne kazoku to tomodachi de mou ii~

Now, would someone who prefers the Japanese versions yet knows little of the language be able to write/type/say that? Didn't think so.

And I don't care if you ask your friend to translate what I just said up there. And if he says there are some errors, than what of it? At least you'd know the basic message, and that's all I care about.

And as for the 'silly Japanse voices', I still think them more suited to the characters than the voices used in the American dub; they're more realistic, given the relatively young ages of the characters (Kai is only 12 or 13 in the first season).

Never generalize about people, and while I understand that it's your opinion, you never know whom you could be hurting. So choose your words carefully, and be tactful about how you phrase such a thing next time. Okay?

In Filipino Takao is glutony or someone who eats alot.

In terms of the meaning. I just don't like the fact that in the english version Kai lost while they were just a draw between thouse 2.

I just don't really like the changes they made in the english version.

Fellow Pinay! *tackles goddessanime* Yay! May karamay ako!

Oh, and no offense, but you misspelled the Filipino word for 'greedy' or glutton' --> 'takaw'.

But yeah, they did pronounce it that way, didn't they? xd

Yuriy means Lily anyway I believe (and farmer in Russian), either way it's girlish.

It fine I often mispell alot of thing and is quite lazy to go to the check spell. That's why if I ever get a book done my editor or check speller will spend alot of time with me.

Yeah, I noticed.

Question: are you really a writer right now? Or are you in college and are taking a creative writing course? Just curious... 3nodding

Just a leisure writer. College UST IT.

I have more than 10 stories almost nothing has an ending or the middle. I wish I can get a creative writing course though. The stories are mostly fanfiction of Kai that are chapters no middle still.

UST, huh? *eyes narrow* Hey, 'twas your team that took the UAAP title from Ateneo...

Only kidding! I'm not one to hold a grudge, seriously. But I think I applied to UST, too, nearly two years ago (fourth year high school).

Since you were kind enough to share your 'academic info' with me, I shall share mine. Incoming sophomore at Ateneo de Manila University, AB Humanities major, with tracks Fine Arts: Creative Writing and Fine Arts: Information Design.

I wasn't born here in Quezon City, though. I'm actually from Davao... share lang! 3nodding
