Yes, Edward Gorey is quite awesome. I went and bought three out of four of his Amphigorey collections, which are collections of his smaller works. These works include poems about the various inventive deaths of small children, a book the size of a postage stamp, and a 'pornographic' work in which nothing is shown and a lot is implied (the main character is always shown eating grapes, and the best line from the story is 'Still later Gerald did a terrible thing to Elsie with a saucepan').
Gorey's work is beautiful, hilarious, absurd, and at times very dark. in other words, something I think most Alice fans would find veeeery interesting indeed.
So I guess this will be the Edward Gorey thread? If anyone finds more of his samples online, feel free to post them here and chit and chat and so on. What ho!
