That's right the craze is officially back Pokemon is hot and popular again! Today in school we have this thing every Wednesday called Red Zone it keeps up with the latest trends in the school. And today the topic was Pokemon. A senior came up on the screen and said "Pokemon is back and popular again and this time it's aimed towards us high schoolers" and it showed about a dozen interviews.
Also I went over to Hottopic today and they had pokemon stuff there.

While I'm going to continue to argue that pokemon never lost it's popularity, it's definitely returning to the mainstream. I see kids in school, usually juniors and seniors, playing pokemon in the hallways, or at lunch, or during studies. My last period class is awesome. Not only do we finish all the work within half an hour, it's in the computer lab, so I get to surf the net, letting me get Wifi battles in during school.
Oh yeah, because a senior in my class brings in his USB connector every day. Yeah, four juniors/seniors in my class play pokemon. One of them just plays his FireRed ROM on the computer, but the other three of us always have our DS'.
Not to mention all of the random little kids who have the game. I've gotten into the habbit of bringing my DS with me everywhere because I see people with the game so often. I can't tell you how many little kids I've crushed.
Even if I didn't have access to Wifi, the DS' Wireless communication(Trading and Battles) makes the gimmick behind Pokemon back in the day, completely usable. Sure, the games were everywhere back in the 90's, but did you carry a link cable around with you everywhere? Nope. Now I can just pull out my DS, and battle.
Pokemon Opal is destined to be the greatest pokemon, perhaps ever.

I hope you're not serious when you say that Pokemon is the new 'goth'. stare I do want that shirt that I saw at Hot Topic though. xd
And in all honesty...I think that Pokemon being 'popular again' is not likely to be as big of a deal as you think...it could get old in about a week or two. That's what I'm giving it. gonk

Pokémon became popular with the release of D/P. I really never expected it, though. I thought R/S were the most popular.

Hot topic has pokemon stuff?! eek I never thought it really died. Most people still like it, secretly. If you ever watched pokemon, you'll never stop liking it. It's like chicken pox...Only WAY better. (okay, bad analogy) Once you have it,the symptoms may go away, but you'll always have it. Once society picks up on it again, it will all of a sudden be "okay" to like pokemon again.

Diamond and Pearl already have animations though, I don't see the need for a 3rd installment. What else would they add? Do people really want trainers calling and annoying them in-game all the time? Opal's had rumors and a fake website, as well as screenshots clearly edited together by idiots so I doubt that'll be the new title. Opal doesn't sound very appealing either, the name has no ring to it like the others.
I heard a lot of trolling self proclaimed elites on the internet who have very little self-esteem and no parental supervision are buying the games so they can harass younger players verbally. It's the first game to utilize the mic feature for more than blowing and whether or not someone is monitoring what people say through WiFi, nothing really is being done about it. Is it that more people are suddenly into the game or more people are looking to exploit others? The official game threads are full of users requesting fake, hacked monsters. You can't trust others because they're probably just cheating until a new game comes out which allows them to attack others without a text trail.

Animations aren't the only thing they add. Yellow, was a gimmick. We could have survived without it. Crystal, however added something big that would become a staple in Pokemon Games. The Battle Tower, and Animations.
The Battle Tower is one of the main things that actually gives the game playability after the E4. Yeah, you could battle the E4 over and over, but it's not fun fighting the same exact pokemon that never get any stronger, backed with wimpy AI.
Emerald added the Battle Frontier. It was Immensely popular with the fans, yet it was strangely absent from Diamond and Pearl. Adding a new Battle Frontier(Or just an expanded Battle Park) would be one excellent addition.
Both of the version exculsive legendaries would be a great thing here. With both exclusives available in one game, the GTS might get slightly better. Those are just things from past third versions, though. They can always add new things too.
Besides, Nintendo likes money. If there's money to be made, Nintendo will force it's Lap dog, Gamefreak to do it. Like the G/S remakes that look more and more plausible than ever. The Location Data, (For example: Caught Shuckle in Cianwood City) for the Johto locations is in the game. It's not being used right now, but it's in there, meaning Nintendo knows, the fans want G/S remakes, and it's at least under consideration.
Giratina, who fits a type trend with Palkia and Dialga, has it's name derrived from the Japanese word for Opal, just like Dialga and Palkia's jap. names are derived from Diamond and Pearl. Once that fact surfaced, the fake websites and trolling came afterwards.
Where on earth did you get the idea that the Chat system is only being used to harrass small childeren. Even if that's happening, the fact is, there is no random mode, and if there was, Voice Chat would be disabled. If little kids are getting friend codes from people, they're either talking to people they've met in real life, or have gone onto message boards and forums to get other people's friend codes. They're talking to strangers through thier own will, and concerned parents should be stopping that, not worrying about nintendo.
Besides, you can always turn off Voice chat, or just turn down the volume.
(And by the way, Metroid Prime Hunters, Yugioh World Championship 2007, and several other games had Voice Chat. Pokemon was not the first game to do that.)
Every Nintendo WiFi game has been plaqued by cheaters because Nintendo doesn't have strong control over it, and they never will. It's extremely difficult to stop online cheating on Portable Systems, and it's too large of a Network. Microsoft's XBox Live Network has much greater control, for many reasons. One major reason being that it's not free. So Unless Nintendo starts charging for Wifi, don't expect the cheating to go away anytime soon.

One thing that sucks about Battle Frontier is that your pokemon can't level up.

Battle frontier was definately good. It had random battles (unlike E4) so you don't always have to fight the same battles again and there were quite alot of arenas too!
