OK. Here's one for ya. Racism. What's your view? People judge other people with out even knowing it! We don't mean it, but we still do it.WE say things we regret and stuff we do mean. I mean we have everone from all the 7 continents we have immigrants, and other stuff. And frankly I don't like Racism one darn bit! They say words have power only if you give them power. I say no matter what. We all are still offended. Hey ask yourself this... If you were drown, you couldn't see who would rescue you! Now let's say theres an east asian, an Indian, a canadian, a russian, a european, an english person, an african american, a philipino, a cuban, a mexican, and all the other races on that dock! You reach your hand out for help. YOU DROWNING AND YOU CAN'T SEE A THING. Do you care who rescues you? No! Cuz you can't see! God gave us the ability of sight. And what do we do? We abuse it! All races are no different! We are all equal!!

So , what say you?

Hence my sig quote from Dean Koontz. It's human nature to do ridiculous things like that. If you notice, black people a time ago were expected to work and be silent when they were put into slavery, now we often automatically stereotype African Americans as being outspoken and rebellious because we attribute what we see in most rap artists and such on everyone else. That's just an oppinion, of course, but what you're saying definitely isn't exagerating. Unfortunately, it won't stop, either.

Hunh.....I wish it would. This society is falling apart at the seams. Freedom of speech? Bah! We are using it overbearingly!!
Most people just can't say "sticks and stones". Words hurt! No ifs ands or buts!!

Quite honestly, The minority Races are just as racest as any white I know, if not more so. the only difference between whites and all other colors is that white get jumped for saying somthing racest, while every other color gets to use the "Freedom of Expression" loop-out. I would not define myself as a racest. Infact, as a woman, I am techneclly a minority as well, but I have to admit that I have a few prejeduces against others.

Human nature. No helping it, unfortunately.
In one of the shows I watch, one of the characters narrates a specific episode - I can't remember it word for word, but it was somewhat like this: "Passion lets us have emotion, happy and painful. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace, but we would be hollow. Empty rooms, quiet halls. It may hurt, but without passion we'd be truly dead."
It all depends on perspective. We look at a person who's trying to kill someone, and we think 'evil' automatically. To us it's evil, but maybe to the killer, there's a reasonable excuse for the action. I'm not saying it's right, but freedom of speach/thought comes with goods and bads, because everyone has different goals and different ways to achieve those goals.
In all technicality, every single thought a person thinks of someone else is racist in a way.

Do any of you differentiate between prejudice and full-blown racism? I do because I have taken entire classes on just that subject... but how about you guys?

I guess there is a difference. Maybe this is a little out of proportion... sweatdrop It could be I am wrong. Or am I?
I stick by my opinions. But I do agree there are different levels of racism and prejudice. Some people are more opinionated than others.

It is getting a bit out of control at times...
I think it is rediculous though how if whites say something say about a black we get scewered, but when a black says something about a white they get nothing...

I know there's a difference between prejudice and racism, but they're both only bad if used in the wrong context, and people don't actually seem know how to use them in the right context. Either way, it's easiest to just be polite to anyone who doesn't give you a strong reason to do otherwise.

True. Just keep your comments to yourself. Being white may seem all that. But the other races have their own highlights. And yes if we crack a racist insult, we pay for it. But other's can. it's other stuff in the deep past of our history that might have caused this. The whites superiority slapped others in the face. And now we whites are at the butt of it all.
WE get blamed for what our ansestors did. That is just...well.....unforgivable. We can't help it if our ansestors were overbearing and Naive!

I would Say that I'm over all a very polite person, but well... I don't care if someone hates me, I just want to openly hate them back, is all... I'm petty, I Know.
