I haven't finshed reading it yet, but so far I find it to be a really good book. My favorite character is Caspar. He is awesome and care free in a way. So, how does everyone else feel about the book??

Well I actually read it before it was chosen (shame on me for impatience) but caspar was certainly my favorite too!
I felt a little silly at the ending and I found it to be... oh I don't know... a little too conclusive? I won't put any spoilers out there just yet for those who haven't finished yet, but I had the same gripe with the very ending of The Thirteenth tale.
Also, Clara got on my nerves... a lot. I liked her mother. For some reason she seemed well shaped for the part.
Our 'evil stepmother" in this book isn't at the same level of wickedness as in a disney cinderella, but she was fairly similar to the ones I found in Grimm Brothers' tales. she's very human and a little likeable in the beginning. Then you watch her true form unfold and get swept away in greed. It's pretty enjoyable.
I really like the art descriptions, and the Master is just delectable! Caspar is his opposite, but I like them nearly equally! The master and his mood swings, indesicion and taste in paintings make him so flavorful! I just love it!
I love how Maguire makes his characters so human by describing less than desirable details, such as Clara peeing in the corner of the windmill. It makes them seem more three dimensional.
As a fan of Maguire's works, including Wicked and Son of a Witch, SOmething I really appreciate is his small trickles of magic in his stories. Though the characters are apparently aware of magic (whether or not it is just a child's imagination in this story) it is very scant and leaves you wondering how much, if any, there really is. Even in this piece of fiction you can't be completely sure what is true and what isn't. How do you guys feel? I heart Caspar

srry loo but i refuse to read your post till i done with the book heart also a sugestion i thing we should have two seperate pages one for those who are done reading the book and one for those who aren't so that we don't give away improtant parts of the book. also i think that before each post if some one's talking about a major part of the story that someone might not have read yet that they sould put spoiler warnings or something and mabey that should be a rule heart
