NOTE: I do have a sixth sense. razz
A girl of 16 yawned as she entered the school building. Her dirty blonde hair was angled so that the back was higher than the front. Her bangs were dyed red to match her heart charm on her leather choker. She wore a collared black short sleeve button up skirt and a red belt on her waist. Her pants were a metallic black and tight at the hips and loose at the shins. She wore a black wristband on her right wrist and a black glove on her left hand. She adjusted her grey and red backpack then entered a classroom. It was old, the building having been built in the fifties. She walked back to her seat, setting her bag down.
“Whoever made school this early needs to die,” she mumbled. She walked back towards the door, saying hi to a boy with reddish brown hair and glasses. She sighed, putting her hands in her pocket as she went out into the hall. “This is dull. Everyday, same old thing. I need to get into trouble again.” She looked up and out the automatic doors. The day was a lovely spring day. The Sun was shining, the grass was green. Birds chirping everywhere. “Aw, die.”
“Jen!” Someone exclaimed. The girl turned and looked, avoiding a potential hug from a girl.
“Not today, Ashley,” Jen told the dark red-head girl. The girl looked at her, her black glasses framing her green-colored eyes. “Why are you so cheery, anyway?”
“What? It’s a nice day and it’s been a bit since we saw each other!”
“Right, with the 3 day weekend and all,” Jen said with sarcasm.
“You’re acting stressed out,” Ashley noted.
“Ah, I have a feeling,” Jen said, waving her hand to dismiss it. She knew she couldn’t but she would try. She had woken up with the feeling that something was out of line. She had always had a keen sixth sense, even if she couldn’t figure it out. In the fall, she had felt that someone was going to be killed. On the night someone was murdered in town, she felt it climax. There were many other times when a feeling occurred and something happened. Even if she wanted to, she couldn’t shrug it off. She just couldn’t.
“What kind?!” Ashley asked, excited by her physic friend.
“Something’s out of whack,” Jen told her. “I feel like there’s something here that shouldn’t be…” Suddenly, she felt someone bump into her. Being irritated as she was, she spun to face the person and said “Watch it, you idiot!” She stared at the boy. His black hair was slicked back with gel and he had wide brown eyes. Jen could tell he was Asian. The two stared at each other for a few moments.
“Yeah?! Wanna make something of it?!” The boy exclaimed.
“Huh, you’re pretty pathetic,” Jen said with ice on her voice. “Why would I waste my time on you?” Suddenly, Jen felt a sudden surge of pain in her chest, as if a pulse was coursing through her veins. She clutched the area that hurt, breathing hard. Her head hung down as she tried to catch a breath. Everything was so heavy.
“JEN!” She heard Ashley exclaim. Jen reached up and grabbed the boy by the color and looked at him.
“Wh-why a-are yo-you he-here?” She stammered. “You-You’re n-not s-suppose to…”
“Hey, are you okay?!” The boy asked, shocked. Jen reached up with her other hand and grabbed his collar, shoving him against the wall.
“Tell me who you are and why you’re here!” She demanded, her eyes glowing a lavender color. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked at the person and saw a boy with bright red hair that was tied back into a loose ponytail. He had soft green eyes and he appeared to be of Asian descent, despite his hair and eye color.
“Miss, could you calm down?” He asked in a kind voice.
“Huh,” Jen said, releasing the other boy. “You all look familiar…” She frowned, her brows furrowed. She didn’t know how much more she could take of this. The feeling grew around these two boys. She grabbed Ashley’s wrist.
“Let’s go,” she ordered. Ashley looked at her, surprised but Jen dragged her off, leaving the two boys.
Jen walked in the hall, feeling as if she would collapse at any time. She shook her head, trying to get her mind off it.
I have to get to German, she thought. Don’t wanna miss it… She looked up the stairs which seemed more crooked now than they ever did. If Jen remembered correctly, they were always straight. Jen grabbed the railing, missing it the first time. She pulled herself up the first stair, her head pounding. She sighed, feeling the other students around her. She moved yet another step. Another after that and so on. When she was nearly at the first landing, she noticed that there wasn’t anyone else on the stair. “Oh no! I’ll be late!” She exclaimed aloud. She hurried a step, but missed it. She felt herself falling backwards and reached for the railing, missing it. Oh no! I hate being a klutz! She thought, preparing for the worst. She felt her book bag slip off and as if in slow motion, heard it tumble down the stairs. That’ll be me next! But it never came. She felt someone grab her before she even hit a stair. She opened her eyes, looking at the person. He had spiky, black hair with a white mark in it. He wore a white headband on his forehead, and his eyes were cold and red. Jen felt the pulsation again. Almost as if he wasn’t suppose to be there, like the two other boys. She jumped up, getting to the landing. She slammed against the wall, pointing at the boy in shock. He looked at her dully, fixing his black shirt.
“You-You-You,” she stuttered.
“Well, woman?” He asked in a coarse voice. Jen noticed how short he was. She blinked, her eyes wide.
“Are you Jaganshi Hiei?!” She blurted out. The boy stared at her, as if she were an idiot.
“Hn,” he said, turning away.
“You are Hiei!” Jen exclaimed, still in severe shock. “Only Hiei says ‘hn!’ Unless you’re an obsessed cosplayer! But the height-“
“What about my height?” He asked, turning to look at her with a cold look.
“It’s exactly right!” Jen said. “It’s too much of a coincidence that you look like him! You must be! But how?! My head hurts…” Jen put her hand to her head, it throbbing. Her breathing became heavier and her face lit up like a fire. “Something’s…Not right…” She breathed.
“Woman,” Hiei said, looking at her quizzically.
“It’s coming, after so long,” she said as if she had no breath. “It’s finally going to get here and take me out…” She felt a pulse, as if something were coming near.
“Woman, snap out of it,” Hiei said, edging closer to the girl.
“LOOK OUT!” She exclaimed, tackling him. Just as she did, a shadow burst out of the wall where she had been sitting. Hiei looked at the shadow in shock but turned his attention to the screaming girl. She moved off of him, holding her head tightly. “MAKE IT STOP!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!” Hiei frowned, watching the shadow lurk above them. He glanced at Jen. He and the others were sent here to protect the guardian of this realm. He could tell she wasn’t well trained in blocking things out. He looked back at the shadow, which had glowing red eyes and a glowing red mouth curved into a cruel smile.
“Leave her alone!” Someone yelled. Hiei looked up at the extremely shorter stair case to see the boy with slick back hair standing there. “SPIRIT WAVE!” He yelled, leaping at the shadow. The shadow vanished just when the boy was about to reach it. He landed, saying a few words under his breath. The red head came running around the corner, his expression was full of worry.
“Hiei! What happened?!” He asked.
“This idiot nearly fell down the stairs so I caught her,” Hiei told him. “Then, she figures out who I am. The next thing I know, she yells ‘look out’, tackles me, and that thing comes out of the wall.”
“I see,” the red head said. “Yusuke, this is getting more dangerous, as we expected.”
“Right, Kurama,” Yusuke replied, thinking. “By the way, where’s Kuwabara?” Someone came running up the stairs, holding Jen’s book bag. He had puffy orange colored hair and sharp features. His nose was slightly upturned and his eyes were small and beady. He wore a white t-shirt and jeans.
“Hey guys! I heard the commotion and figured that this was the girl’s!” He said in a hoarse voice. Everyone then remembered Jen and turned and looked at her. She had fainted, and lay in a calm sleep.
“Kuwabara! Go get Mr. Roddy!” Kurama ordered.
“Um, who’s he?” Kuwabara asked.
“I’ll show ya,” Yusuke sighed, dragging his friend down the stairs.
“This isn’t a normal faint, fox,” Hiei said, looking up at the taller boy.
“I know but we can’t do anything odd,” Kurama replied, running his fingers through his hair. Suddenly, Jen popped up.
“Ah! I’m so late for German!” She exclaimed, grabbing her bag and running off. Hiei and Kurama blinked, surprised by how fast she could move.
“That was…” Kurama started.
“Odd,” Hiei finished.
Jen sat in class, chewing on her pencil. She couldn’t even remember the last time she chewed on a pencil. She looked up from her paper, then back down. Her concentration had been snapped. What had happened exactly on the stairs? It was all a blur. The last thing she remembered was her head throbbing like crazy. It still hurt a little, but not as much as before. Unconsciously, her hand moved up to rub her head as her deep concentration looked like a death glare. That boy had looked so much like Hiei. She even thought he might be the character the similarities were so close.
She shook her head, thinking herself crazy. There was no way Hiei or any anime character could be here! They weren’t real! Animes were not real! She groaned and put her head on the desk, her hands on top. Too much annoyance for one lifetime. She sighed and moved her head so she could look at the other people in the room. All working so well, as if there was nothing odd going on at all. Jen sighed, pushing herself up then smirked. What would some of her otaku friends have to say about the new boys? It promised to be amusing, to say the least. She smirked and leaned back in her seat, running her hand through her short hair.
Now, the school lunches are odd at Jen’s school. Her class leaves in the middle of English for lunch. So, Jen stood up and walked down to the lunch room. That’s when she saw the look-alikes again. Except there was another one there. One that looked like Kuwabara! She quickly ducked behind the yellow brick wall, catching her breath. Too weird for her taste. Her chest was tightening again.
Just act normal, she thought. But nothing’s normal!!
“Excuse me, are you all right?” Jen heard someone ask. She spun around and saw the Kurama-look-alike.
“GYAH! D-don’t do that!” She yelled at him. “Give me a heart attack! Dang!” The group stared at her and she glared back. “Okay, introduce yourselves. I’ll go first. Jen Hovestreydt.”
“Dennis Kishomoto,” the Kurama look-alike replied.
“Eugene Takashino,” the Yusuke look-alike said.
“Alfred Kagaishiigo,” the Kuwabara look alike stated.
“Hn,” the Hiei look-alike said.
“He’s Vincent Nosuba,” Dennis said.
“Dennis, Eugene, Alfred, and Vincent,” Jen said, rubbing her chin. “How odd…That’s the Filipino names for Kurama, Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Hiei.” Jen leaned closer to Dennis, standing toe-to-toe. “Kinda odd how they correspond with you look-alikes. I want the full truth and nothing but the truth, Dennis.”
