My guess is Tony Sampson, Michael Adamwaite, or Ted Cole is the voice of Light. Brian Drummond is L. If you compare Brian's performance as Tiger of the Wind from Monster Rancher or Zechs from Gundam Wing.

The voices sound good. But, seeing as I've heard pretty bad things about the series from friends who watch the fansubs (plus the fact that I didn't like the manga), I'll probably rent it from Netflix instead of buying.

I can't recognize either of the voices, but then again I'm more likely to watch ADV/FUNImation DVDs.
I don't think I like the sound of Light's voice. I feel like he should sound creepier... L's voice sounds good, though it's not what I had imagined.
I love Death Note, but I'm still debating whether or not to buy the anime, because of cost (I'm working on so many other series), and I'm really not liking the second half of the manga.

I'm excited that it's being dubbed, but some of the voices just don't quite sit right with me. But that may be because I'm so used to the japanese voices. I'm sure if I watched the english version more I'd get used to it.

Thing is thats Light's voice from when the anime first started. His voice is NOT creepy in the first episode, he does not sound like an evil murdering mastermind in the first episode. He becomes that and his voice becomes like that over the corse of the series. In the first episode he is a normal, smart teenager, and sounds like a normal teenager.
Light sounds pretty much identical in 6that clip to what he sounds like in the dub. He has not yet decended into the darkness and he is still for the most part normal. The Death Note is only starting to give him a god complex.

hmm I can't tell 100% weather or not I like the dub voices or not... but I'll give it a shot.... if I don't like it when I see the final product I'll just stick to the subtitles on the official DVD.

Death Note is going to be on Adult Swim. Which pleases me. But I wonder how the dub haters will feel about this...

So now it's online if you go to the Adult Swim website and click the square that has a picture of Ryuk and it says "premire" in the corner. I'm not done watching the first episode yet but so far I really like it. Even if Light's voice isn't what was in my head the VA did a great job in my opinion. 3nodding
