Humming softly to himself he wandered though the trees and though about absolutely nothing of importance. Things were horribly mundane around this place and he wish for a bit of maddness to liven things up. The two sisters had been entertaining for a while but as they grew they learned and couldn't keep up with him anymore.
It was like playing with children and he had no desire to play with those. Chuckling he pushed a branch aside so it wouldn't knock the hat from its perch off his head. Silly nuisance the hat but he loved it so. Nothing like a brim to keep the sun from your eyes in this horribly sunny place.

 The sun was warm and, truthfully, she'd enjoyed that for a bit. It had taken the early morning's chill away easily enough... Of course, too much of a good thing was rarely good for long. It became bright; very bright and all too warm for her liking.
She rolled to her feet, shaking the grass off of her body while her tail flickered up to dust away the pieces that weren't as easily displaced. She left her patch of sun in the the clearing in favor of slipping into the forest. She was too bright to blend in and too cocky to care... And somewhere, yes, somewhere out there was a shaded stream with her name on it.

His hooves met the edge of a stream and he looked down as if he hadn't noticed it before. Grinning he leaned down to take a drink before he dipped his nose into the cool liquid. It was so much nicer down in the trees rather than out roaming around the plains.
He continued humming softly as he nibbled at some fresh green grass that grew along the edge of the stream. The grass was new and still tender and tasted delicious.

She paused, brushing her hindquarters against a tree to itch a scratch she wouldn't have been able to reach with her teeth. The forest was beautiful; peaceful... Nice and cool compaired to the patch of sunny grass she'd been lying in.
When she was content she moved on once more, picking her way through the various forms of foliage. She paused when she came to the stream that she'd sought out initially, dipping her head down to take a sip of the crystal clear waters. At times such as this she was happy that her hair always seemed to remain short... No worries, no upkeep and no dampness unless she dunked her head in to the water.

He started to add words to his tune as he headed up the stream. To anyone else the song would have probably made no sense but he understood it fine and that was all he needed. It was something pleasant to do while out wandering. Perhaps if he was lucky he could find a nice fruit tree to nibble on.

After a moment her tail began to swish behind her in time with a strange tune that just... Found its way into her head. She began to hum along with it, matching her pitches as she was able to only to realize something terribly important; the voice humming in her head was not her own. "Curious..."
She held her head high, ears flickering as she paused in her own humming, listening for the sound of the song she had first heard. Upon hearing it once more she closed her eyes, stepping back into the shade to listen. Every now and then she'd add in her own little note or two, waiting to see if it would be noticed.

As he followed the trail if the stream his ears flickered as he picked up a counter melody to his song. How strange. He ignored it at first until he came to where he believed the song to be coming from. He could still hear notes being added as he came to a stop toward a small bend.
"Such a lovely little voice from the trees." He knew another something had to be around and he could smell another of his kind. A mare he figured.

"Beneath the trees." Her laugher was carried along with her next notes; soft yet almost bubblingly haughty at the same time. Her tail swished slowly behind her as she listened for another response, ears tilting towards the slightest sound. "Be thou bird or beast?"

"Must i be either?" He could see her now. The almost white hide did nothing to keep her hidden in the trees. "I would like to think i have more sense than a beast."
Bird he was no where near. No wings or feathers to speak of and no desire to flutter around at the edges of water to find things to eat. Even if the tendrils on the edge of streams were delicious.

"No, you needn't be either bird or beast, but you do need to be something." She let a broad smile slip over her lips, eyes remaining closed even as the other creature approached. It was a strange sign of trust... Not necissarily that she trusted him, but perhaps more that she trusted her own ability to avoid whatever threat he might pose should there be one at all. "Well?"

"Mad .. perhaps then." He chuckled softly to himself as he stopped half a length from her. It was his name and he had on more than one occasion been called it in a more descriptive way.

At that she couldn't help but laugh, finally opening eyes so that slitted golden orbs could wander towards the... Stallion. Her brow lofted slightly as she took a step away from her tree, tail swishing against her hindlegs. "We're all mad here." She smirked. "Katarina... And you are?"

"I believe i've already told you my name Miss Katarina." His tail swung behind him easily as he watched her move. "To each his own madness even if one is lost so deep they never notice." He tipped his head to her with a slight bow of his front hooves.

"All this talk of his own... What of her own?" She smirked, eyeing him over once before moving closer to the stream once more. "If that is your name it simply won't do... I'm certain we can find something better to call you."

"His, her, it is all relative when you look at it." He turned as she did and watched her as he straightened up. "What is one could be the other if you only skewed your view the right way."
He chuckled as she spoke of his name. "Now i believe i rather like it. Gives others a moment to pause as they try to decide whether they should truly call me that"
