Here's how the contests are going to work:
First of all, this may go without saying, but in order to be entered into the contest, your entree must pertain to the current prompt. Entries not pertaining to the current prompt, or that are from past prompts will not be entered into the contest. The prompts are up to your creative interpretation. They do not need to be literal themes, however the link between your entree and the prompt still needs to be evident in some way.
There will be two writing prompts a month. They will both be posted on the first of the month. Entries eligible for the contest will be accepted through 11:59pm on the 30th/31st. Any entry after that may still be posted, but will not be eligible for the contest. Of course, you may still post after that time just for fun! There are no deadlines for creativity!
All entries should be posted in the thread that is dedicated to that month's prompt. Please do not PM me your entries! I want to keep them all together, and easily viewable to everyone in the guild.
There will only be one contest a month. It will combine entrees from both prompts. I will choose the top three entries to award the prize.
1st prize: 10,000 Gold
2nd prize: 2,000 Gold
3rd prize: 1,000 Gold
If we have a lot of really good entries, I may chose some as Honorable Mention, however honorable mention winners will not receive prizes. Sorry!
The winners will be announced sometime during the first few days after the deadline. I will get to it as soon as possible, but of course I have to read all the entrees and chose the best so it could take up to a week! I can't make any promises until I see how it goes for the first few months.
On the subject of choosing the winners, only one entree per person may be awarded each month. You may enter as many entrees as you like however you can only win one prize per month! It is possible, lets say, to win first prize and have a second piece as an honorable mention, however you cannot win more than one prize per month.
Please do not abuse the contest by using multiple accounts. If I find out that anyone is using multiple accounts to scam the contest, all involved accounts will be permanently banned from the guild! I'm very serious about this. Do not be greedy and ruin the chances for everyone else!
If for some reason you just want to write for the prompt but do not wish to be entered into the contest ( eek ) please just say something like "I'm not entering the contest" in your post.
If you would like to donate to the guild contest, please send a trade labeled "Prompt Contest Donation" to me. Send donations by trade to my account only! I will keep very detailed track of all donations and make sure that nothing is spent that was meant for the contest. You have my word the money will go where it is suppose to. If you send the donation to anyone but my account, I can not guarantee that it will be used for it's intended purpose. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they can't be trusted, I'm just saying I can't keep track of what they do, and I may not even know a donation was ever made. It just avoids consusion if I know where all money is at all times.
I think that's all you really need to know for now. If I think of anything else I will add it in a separate post. Feel free to ask any questions!

Can guild members submit ideas for future prompts? ... could kick your a** !!

It might be a bit until we get the contests going though. We're still lacking on active members at the moment.
Also as a side note, I think I'm going to change the contests from one every 15 days to one a month (in other words, give both prompts at the same time and let the submission time be twice as long). It it will give people more time to submit entries. In the past we seemed to have issues with that. The rest will remain the same though. You may write for both prompts but only one can win.

Ziekara Also as a side note, I think I'm going to change the contests from one every 15 days to one a month. It it will give people more time to submit entries. In the past we seemed to have issues with that. Sounds like a good idea to me.
At the moment I don't have any ideas but I know that I will be getting some once I see what kind of prompts the contest is using. How specific, how vague, etr.
Also, I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the first post or not, if it was I guess I just didn't read it, but who's judging the contest? Is it just you or a panel of judges? ... could kick your a** !!

BTW, I don't think I've gotten a single guild announcement since I joined. Have you been utilizing the guild announcement feature? That alone could boost activity, if you just send out an announcement every time something important happens in the guild. ... could kick your a** !!

Hey, I was wondering, are users allowed to make there own contests? I don't have anything in mind now, but I like to host my own contests and the idea would definitely appeal to me. I don't mind using your rules and prize system if that should ever be a problem.

No, you can enter any time once the prompt has been posted, but you can not post AFTER the last day of the month( for this month, that means you must post BEFORE 11:59 pm on October 31st.) Does that make more sense? ...live as if you'll die today
