Bijin and his mother picked Kinnara up a few weeks after discussing the trip and flew off to Japan. Bijin was so excited but managed not to annoy people on the plane. Once they landed, his mother took the two boys to the hotel they would be staying in while in Kyoto. They rested for a day or two since the time difference was so drastic. They still needed to finalize their trip into the country sidew ith a local guide so Bijin's mother gave the boys some money and sent them out to see the sights.

"Isn't this fun, Kin-sempai! It is so nice to be back home!"

The eager little boy was dressed as an eager little school girl. His new clothes were clean and neat as he walked next to the older neko. He even got a few pats on the head from people saying how cute "she" was and told Kinnara to take care of his little sister. Bijin would just giggle.

"What would you like to see first, Kin-sempai?"

Kinnara sat on the bed and turned his head toward Bijin. He was not used to the time change yet so he was suffering from a bit of jet lag. His eyes seemed to be very droopy and he felt as if his whole body was saying go to sleep. His ears hung low. Kinnara tail slowly swished a bit but not a a lot. He wanted to see his face in a pillow so he can take a nap. Kinnara was wearing the new clothes they had got from the mall a few weeks ago.

"Bijin I am kind of tired. I have never travel before on a plan. What time is it anyways," he said rubbing his eyes and yawning. Kinnara was looking for the nearest pillow to grab. He just wanted to curl up and sleep. "Would it be okay if we napped a little and do we have any water. I am a bit thirsty. I will proubely be better after I sleep and get used to the time change." Kinnara looked really like a zombie; pale and dead.

Bijin frowned a bit, he wanted to take Kinnara to see the trees. Oh well. He went to the little fridge in the hotel room and got him some water. Then he fluffed a pillow and sat behind Kinnara. He laid his friend's head down onto the pillow in his lap and petted his hair.

"Ne, I forget you have never traveled this far. I'm use to it. Take a nap, Kin-sempai. I can wait, we have time to get you use to being here."

He smiled down at his friend and turned the TV on. He kept it low so Kin could sleep but he could still be entertained. All the while he still continued to pet Kin's hair, for some reason it was nice, like petting a cat.

Kinnara curled up while he slept. He didn't mind the fact Bijin was petting him. The pillow was nice and soft. As he fell deeper into a sleep state he could hear something calling him. Taunting and laughing at him. In the back of his head he heard but ignored it. He just wanted to sleep for a good few hours.

2 hours later

Kinnara awoke and stretched a bit. " Feel so much better." said Kinnara. He noticed that Bijin was watching Japanese tv which he couldn't understand because he did speak Japanese. "I guess All I really needed was a nap. "

"Do you feel better now?"

The boy handed his feline friend the bottle of water he had gotten earlier then stretched out his legs. They had nearly gone to sleep with his friend's head in his lap but he was glad Kinnara was feeling better. He glaced over at the TV and a sudden look of a happiness crossed his features.

"Look, the sakura trees are blooming!"

He pointed excitedly to the TV. There quite a few people down at the gardens all dressed up. Bijin immediately went to change into a white and pink kimono.

"Come on Kin-sempai! You said you wanted to see them!"

"Alright let go then," he said with a smile and taking a drink of water. "Maybe there will be a night festival that we can go to and play some of those games I see in manga every now and again. " He got off the bed and stretched out a bit more. "Come on let go or we wil miss out," he said and headed toward the door. His shoes were by the entrance. Kinnara luckly was a master of slipping on his shoes withuot having to retie them.

Kinnara then stopped for a moment. "I just realize you should be a the leader. I have no clue where it is at. And for the event did I need to wear something well more traditional? "

"Hmm, I think I have a Kimono that will fit you. Its too big for me, okaasan always talks about me growing into it. Come on!"

Bijin helped Kinnara learn the art of putting on a kimono. His was black with a silver dragon on the side. Bijin's was white with a pink crane on the side. He lead the way down to the sakura trees, it was so beautiful. The pink flowers were everywhere and lots of couples were gathered around them.

A few people smiled at them, saying something to Bijin in Japanese which sent the boy into giggles before he responded. The people usually looked a little embarressed then apologetic. They would nod and smile at Kinnara before moving on. Finally Bijin found a nice spot under one of the trees and sat down.

"They are very pretty this year, Kin-sempai. What do you think?"
PostPosted: Sat May 12, 2007 6:51 pm

Kinnara sat down and looked up at the leaves and the petals of the trees. "Yes it is nice this year. This is the first time I have been to something like this." He then looked down at Bijin and in a far distance Kinnara spoted some one that made shivers run down his spine. It couldn't be, he thought. He blinked and the person was gone. His attention went back to Bijin and smiled. "I am suprised no one has pointed me out for being what I am." he said somewhat peacefully. "So what where those people saying to you?"

"Oh they have Kin-sempai, they think you are a sign of good luck. But others have been making more.......funny comments."

Bijin giggled, hiding his face behind his sleeves.

"A sign of good luck?" he said in reply and tilting his head a bit to the right. "Funny comments? Like what?" He never thought of himself as good luck. He had learned from books he was bad luck and a sign of bad omens to come.

"In Japan cats are considered good luck as they keep food safe and are symbols of happiness to come. There is an old tale that a cat lifted its paw to a passing emporer in a gesture that is the same that we use to beckon someone to follow us. When the emporer followed the cat, lightning struck the place he had just been standing. So cats are considered creatures of mercy and kindness. They even sell statues of cats in the beckoning position to bring good fortune and personal happiness to the inhabitants of the home."

Bijin pointed out a small stand near by that was selling small cat statues. Some were for personal wealth, others for health. And still others were for harmony and good friends.

"As for the funny comments....well...usually....couples come to this event. Some people seem think I'm your girlfriend."

Bijin giggled a bit.

Kinnara listened to this fable and nodded. He felt more at piece in Japan now that he didn't feel like he was a curse. This the thought of Bijin being his girlfriend caught him by suprise. He blushed a little and then started to laugh.
"I guess it is because you look so much like a girl. " said Kinnara with a smile.

"Hai, I told them I was just your friend and that it was your first time in Japan. So do not worry. I just hope you won't stop walking with me if people keep thinking that."

He did look a little nervous at that. After all, Kinnara was older than him and may not want to hang around with a girly little boy like him. At least with people like Auro-sempai they could tell what gender he was.

Kinnara gave one of his goofy smiles to Bijin. "Don't worry I will still walk and hang out with you no mater what people say about us." Kinnara then petted Bijin on the head. "Don't I will be your friend no matter what." He didn't want to have anyone else be hurt like he was by Aurora.

Bijin smiled brightly then got an idea. He stood up and ran over to the man selling the Maneki Neko's. He bought him a black one which kept evil away. Then he ran back over to Kinnara and presented him with his gift.

"Here Kin-sempai. A symbol of our promise to always be friends, no matter what people think of us. You say you are cursed, but in Japan, you are honored and respected. This statue will help keep evil away from you, so put it by your bed at night."

Bijin had another reason for doing this. During the few days they had already been there, he had been awoken by Kinnara having what appeared to be nightmares. He hadn't done anything about it as his friend had soon calmed down but at least with this, he could make an attempt to protect his friend.
