Hello and welcome to Mental, the game in which fantasy, macabre, psychology, and novelistic story elements all mesh as one to make a huge dead-baby smoothie of fun!
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Ellisent Vanestra. I'll be...your "guide" as of now, helping you to understand all of the inner workings of this odd yet satisfying Roleplayer. Just keep your eyes on me...and everything will be just fine...
Mental covers a broad, sweeping storyline that takes place in a desolate, broken Earth. A player could start anywhere, be it a town, mental hospital, hotel or porn store. Anything could happen.
The year is 2226. Everyone will start off with at least that much knowledge. As for the rest...well, you'll have to figure that out yourself. Interacting with your world can give you countless tips on your situation, objectives, possible threats, and how to stay alive. In fact, as you progress through the game, you'll find that your life will center around one large idea...
Survival.
There are two races highlighted in Mental; they are Humans and Lonarians. Humans act, think and exist like many of us do, but some...may have extraordinary qualities to them. It's your goal, as an "intelligent" life form, to try to decipher the inner workings of yourself, where any abnormalities may have come from, and the all-important question, "Why?" Pfft. Humans have it easy, compared to pure-bred Lonarians. This mysterious race, born in a number of either demonic, angelic, demi-human or human forms, completely lends itself to talents and deformities that make them stand out in an already less-than perfect world. Without support from humans, they continue to live in repression until the day when they become strong enough to rise up...and lash out.
So, where do you fit in? Well. That's hard to say. There are so many possibilities...but I can tell you what to expect.
You may have to get creative. Characters in this game, especially in the lower levels of this complex building, will find themselves in tough situations at every turn. This is the nature of this colossus - the Subania Contamination Institute for Magicks and other Deformities. At some point, you will face this chasm of despair...and it will not be pretty. Thinking on your toes and asking questions will score you some major points.
Romance is allowed. I full-on support char-to-char interaction. Though that may not be the basis of this game, it could definitely spark a little chivalry around here...and who knows, maybe you just might need that to continue on...
Magic isn't uncommon. Most of you will learn "spells" as you go. You can use these in many ways, and don't forget to utilize every one. For instance, a single "ice" spell may be all you need to defuse a hand grenade or even lock a door shut. Conversely, how you play the game will affect what you learn. A particularly mischievous character may find themselves learning a lot more...destructive skills. Morality will play a great role in your journey.
Choose your own destiny. There are literally hundreds of factions at your fingertips, both inside Subania and in the outside world. There are also pros and cons to everything. Alliances can be formed, and lives can be taken. Everything is up to you.
Don't forget to ask questions. As the GM, I know everything about this RP - from maps to characters. If you think you have a question I can answer without spoiling the game, please do so. You may come to ask me more often than you think.
Okay, but what exactly is going on? Everyone will have different information availiable to them, and I also do hope that no one "eavesdrops". That is to say, please don't use info that you see elsewhere that your character is "not supposed to have". It ruins the game for everyone. Anyways. I can tell you that you are all subjects of extremely strange experiments in a submerged, hellish tower called Subania Contamination Institute. The contamination? You, and others like you. What your personal goal may be will differ from everyone else's. But I should think you may want to first start with finding your identity...
As for the "normal" information, as in storyline, how magic works, races, character builds, and all that other crap...I'd just hate to spoil your fun. You'll be playing blindly. And, if you really think that I just don't know anything about my own RP...you'd better look in the many threads I've created, think a bit, and confront me again. I'm sure you'll...change your mind. So please, if you would like to fill one of the few remaining slots in this...special RP, I'd appreciate a PM.
Enjoy your stay...

A note on how to play (If you're confused, as some have been...)
This type of RP is what I've taken to calling a "Call and Response" Role Playing Game. Most tabletop and book based RPG's are this style. (ie/ Dungeons and Dragons, Choose Your Own Adventure) This means that any given post that you make is an attempt... Not an action. You say that you look around the room, I'll tell you what's in the room. You say that you punch a guard in the face, I'll tell you if you connect or not, it's that simple. "Open Book" RPG's are the kind that most of Gaia is based upon, where your posts are more of a paragraph in a story than anything else. The latter is more free form, obviously, but that's not the point of Mental. This RP is set up to test you in a controlled environment. Don't like it? Well, then you wouldn't be here, now would you?

A bit of history, as told by Bob...to Alice. Coming soon: An entire history lesson, covering the previous two Darwin episodes.
Okay. Now, a little about me. I'm an experiment. Yeah, you heard me. A ******** "designer human"...You may not - do not know this, but a long, long time ago, there was this guy...by the name of "Kefka"...well, no, that's not his real name, but it doesn't really matter. Just listen. He ran these, these...testing labs, this huge Complex, you see? I don't really know how, 'cuz I booked it as fast as I could, but...he was manufaturing magic...making all the ******** folklore and tales of Lon - tales of magical creatures...real. Something to do with "changing the Life Essence" and other physiotomicacaca s**t. Whatever. But he was changing us. Humans. Making us...mutants. Well, little did we know that he though we would ********' love him for all this "big priviledge" and help him in some stupid plan. I mean, priviledge? Come on! I lost my identity, my family, my life...just because I was randomly selected..."
Shifting uneasily, he rubbed his eyes and faced you again.
"So, I bust outta there, see...I break a window, squeeze through some tubes...end up in a big river. Well. After about two hours of getting the ******** outta there, I...I don't know the odds of this one...meet up with some chick, goes by the name of Millenia...says she's gonna kill herself...she was a patient too, but...well, hold on. So, she can't deal with the stress. Knows she's better dead than alive. So she removes a...a collar...the one you're wearing...and perishes. Right before my eyes...just turns to ******** dust. God, the things you see in this age...
So, anyway, I've been long gone...and one day...whole ******** world goes up in smoke. Huge explosion - like a ******** warhead - wipes out a huge chunk of the planet. We're all going crazy. I mean nuts. And three, count 'em three days after, we get a "savior"? My God, you think you're confused hearing it, you should have lived back then...some guy...Johann Rozen...just kind of settles himself in...takes control of our anarchy by using...talents. Just like the ones us patients have...this guy takes over. You know the Rozen clan, right? Dictators of the goddamn world...yeah. They take over. And we live...alone and afraid. Can't leave your respective town, unless you've got transportation...the whole world's...dying.
You see, the explosion left this thing called the "Great Scar" right diagonally across the middle of the earth. Oceans are spilling in, magma boils up time to time...continents sink under melting polar ice...things ain't so hot. And for now, we gotta live in fear...while the Rozen clan knows everything. Problem is, you can't get there from America...no flights, boats...anything can take you past the Scar...and so we wait...
Now for your part in all of this. You know that collar? On the inside are two spells...
One binds, one finds.
I read them both...and I don't know if I'm proud or disappointed of that...as soon as I did...the collar became restless. People near me got sick, good children became real snots...nice became...evil. So I hid it in that Bible over there. That sure shut it up...holy pages and all, it'll definitely stop Succubaic toys like these...
The second spell ingrained your image and location in my mind. Everything about you, too. I was to find you...soon. Or I would die. Plain and simple...real hocus pocus s**t...so I found you. Not before doing some research.
You are a succubus. Yes, you heard me. The most violent, decadent tempress of blood...sounds nice, huh? Yeahh...well. You are. Come from a long line of...Lonarians.
Lonar is what most people conside our "Red Moon". As you know, it's broken into fragments now, but in my day...it was beautiful...and was rumored to be home to heaven and hell both. No one could ever seem to reach it, though. Yeah, we'd ******** travelled to Mars, but Lonar always seemed out of reach...you know what I think? God...or whatever, some...power knew that Lonar was not a place for us humans to go...probably just kill us with bewilderment...so they must have figured out a way...a barrier, if you will, to...keep things contained. On both sides. Hell made up the red exterior of Lonar, I guess to keep us from seeing the tempting pleasures of heaven...Worked pretty well too...only flaw was that...demons, taking the red, outer crust, had a plain view of Earth...and when someone "accidentally" released the heavenly hold upon the planet...some got free. You guys come in all shapes and sizes...Lamias...Wyvrinas...Imps...all with powers...magnificent abilities...
And you bred with us...*stupid, stupid us...*, spreading your..."magick" across the planet. Most Lonarians are powerful, but they have no desire to destroy earth...seeing as how they miss it so much...and with heaven unable to stop them, they still live among us. However, they may still be a massive threat to Earth as we know it. I think they might be in the Great Scar, but whatever...they're here...you're here.
Of all the demonic races, the Succubus is undoubtedly the Queen. With a fiery heart, tempting gaze, and unholy power, she could crush anyone...or anything...under her feet. I don't know what a fully-grown one looks like, but I sure as hell can do some picturing there...There are no recorded instances of male dominance, no princes or kings...but you...could be the ruler-to-be of all...all of the Lonarians. Though you're still green, and I recommend you don't go near them, it is still your right. They will fight you for it, but your bloodline...and I daresay you might be a cousin to Millenia herself...

Hey, just a thought, or maybe a suggestion? How about adding a dice roll system? That could like, narrow things down a bit and also make it easy on you when you call an action. Again, mostly a thought more than a suggestion.
