It's common knowledge that only two couples in GW are presumed canon, namely, Zechs/Noin and Treize/Une. Do you approve of these being mixed up into alternatives as well. Variations I've seen:
Treize/Zechs -popular shonen-ai pairing due to the bishounen factor and the fact that these two are close friends. Treize may or may not have acted as his instructor. Treize did, however act as Noin's instructor and it is assumed that Zechs and Noin were in the same class so Zechs may have been Treize's student.
Noin/Une -I really have no idea how this would work within the timeframe both worked for OZ since they loathed each other. Une was jealous of both Zechs and Noin due to Treize's praise of them. Noin got slapped by her and I don't think that sweetens the relationship either. I'm not sure if Noin ever saw the Saint persona though. By EW, they seem to get along fine. Still, I mainly think this pairing is utilized so Treize/Zechs will work out within fan fiction.
Zechs/Une -Well, rather Milliardo and Saint Une in the one I read. The reasoning is both took on new personas that could get involved with each other. When Saint Une meets Zechs as Milliardo, she doesn't seem to recognize him though I think he recognizes her. I really don't think he'd fall for her and even in her weird state, she's still too hooked on Treize.
Treize/Noin -haven't read one yet but FFN has every pairng under the sun. I'm like no. Just no... Somehow, I just don't see it. Noin's way too hooked on Zechs.
So your opinions please?

I dunno, for some reason my brain can't really process any of those alternate pairings. I guess the OZzies were shown to be closer to romance than any of the Gundam Pilots, so imagining them with anyone else is just plain hard to do.

Except of course for the shonen-ai and shoujo-ai fans... FFN has every pairing under the sun partially because of them... @_@ Zechs/Treize, in particular, is popular. Personally it's the lesser of two evils when Treize/Wufei is involved. That pairing makes me shudder with its utter lack of plausibility. Of course, that's just me...

I think I'll stick with the canon couples. They just don't make sense otherwise!

Yeah but, you know, rabid yaoi fangirls try to make the most ridiculous couples work. rofl Note that I'm not against yaoi fangirls in general, just the rabid ones who pair up bishies for the hell of it.

I don't have anything against anybody either but I must say...I don't like the idea of any of those pairings, especially the same-sex couples (sorry, personal opinion). I agree with Void...it just doesn't compute. I think the reason I really don't like them is because it sort of...well....really distorts too many aspects of the original story for me to enjoy it. Other alternative pairings (DuoXRelena, QuatreXCatherine, etc.) they are different but they don't jar the whole picture as much for some reason...but I think it also depends on the ability of the writer. If someone can construct a fic with enough skill/craft, I bet anything can be enjoyable...

I absolutely cannot see any of those other pairings happening. I am okay with shounen-ai, but...I still can't see Zechs/Treize happening at all. That's just...off. I'll stick with the presumed canon pairings, thanks.

I like Treize/Une, but I do admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for Treize/Zechs. I'm odd like that, while I support the cannon, I also support the alternative pairings. *shrugs* That's just the way I am.

These two are couples I can't split up. I can do alternatives on the others, but not these. Though, perhaps Une may move on because Treize is dead, Zechs and Noin are in it for the long haul in my book.

Zechs/Treize is a guilty pleasure. sweatdrop
That said, I don't think it actually occurs in the series. Ever. Likewise to the other alternative pairings. Zechs and Noin rather obviously have something going on, even if Zechs isn't as vocal about it as she is, and the same goes for Treize and Lady Une. I mean, she's totally smitten with him and while he doesn't show much affection for her during most of the series, he is much closer to her than anyone else (and he does send her roses).

While I may be a hardcore yaoi fangirl, I really only enjoy 13x6 if it's done exceptionally well. There's not as much there to work with as other Gundam Wing yaoi pairings.
. . . Says the 5x2 fangirl. xd
Anywho, back on topic; I think 6x9 is sweet, but I don't like how Noin's all obsessive about him in the beginning of the series ("Zechs, it's been [X] years and [Y] days". Wow).
She's mellowed out by the end of the series, and in EW, though, so it's okay. whee
As far as Treize and Une. . . honestly, I can't see much of a relationship developing between them other than a mostly-platonic thing due to mutual respect. Sorry, guys. sweatdrop

I see Noin's countdown more as the result of simply being a military person. Attention to detail is a must for officers, and keeping track of something like that would probably be something in the back of her mind like a little tape recorder in a reporter's pocket.

I still say Zechs and Une, because I don't care for Treize, and I really dispise yaoi.
I'm not apologizing either. I don't (inentionally) bash yaoi fangirls or fanboys, or people that actually take part in the practice of yaoi/yuri, even though a lot of them, especially Relena haters can tend to bash us non-yaoi folks.
