From here on, I will post information about Wicca, as often as I recieve it. I am in trainign at the moment, so as I learn, I will post. Until then, how about a role call of my fellow Witches?
1) Wicca is NOT Satanic

A quick question for you: are you learning within the more formal structure of a specific tradition or coven or are you following a self-taught spiritual path?
That aside, are you sure you should wait until you're a bit more knowledgable to be putting up info posts on the subject? I'm not sure our guild is meant to have FAQ-like threads... what's your call MoA? (I am also moving this thread out to a more appropriate forum)
I think having some threads on specific topics relating to Wicca would be a great addition though. Or any threads that relate to some issues of a particular religion!

I'm a former Wiccan, and I still lean toward Pagan tenancies in my beliefs. I occasionally still perform rituals in a traditional Wiccan manner, and I am also a very strong supporter of my local Pagan community, participating in events and such. While I don't consider myself a witch as much as I used to, I am well versed in witchcraft and use it when I need to. I don't abide the Rede, for my own personal reasons, but then, few non-Wiccan Pagans do... Starlock I'm not sure our guild is meant to have FAQ-like threads... what's your call MoA? I'm all for FAQ threads, as long as the person who created the thread creates it with some content to begin with and is willing to put time into keeping the thread up to date, or gives someone who can edit threads permission to keep it up to date.

I plan on putting anything I learn up here. I don't want to put any false information up, or I would put up what I know already. I do not want to be accused of being fake, however, I will put one thing up there right now....

While I appreciate the sentiment behind this thread, I'd prefer if you made threads that either ask for information or provide new information. I understand you want to post what you learn, but there's other Wicca threads that explain all the basic teachings already.

And a slough of guilds that cover Wiccan information as well. A good guild for postings is Sacred Sources; by and large the folk over there are pretty laid back and won't be biting heads off about anything. wink
You don't have to worry about accusations of being a 'fake.' I'm mostly concerned because the faces of Wicca are somewhat complicated and some individuals are pretty rough around the edges in terms of what they consider Wicca and not-Wicca. I've seen too many arguments started over what Wicca is and isn't (including what is false info and what isn't) to not be weary of anyone starting an info thread on the religion. It's nothing personal. sweatdrop

Pagan Is + The wiccan rede *copied from a post by Nena in my guild*
PAGAN IS - simply someone who practices a nature based religion/practice. Please note that you will find a variety of believes, uses of words, thoughts of spirituality, ceremonies, and such but all pagan practices have some common denominators, like * Belief that there may be many different sources of energy/spirits/entities with different names but that there is a higher all encompassing source which is really the combination of all the separate energy/spirits/entities. * Respect of the earth for it is the mother from where we come in this physical form, it is she who gives us food * No intentions to ever purposely harm, to do all in respect (honesty) and love at all times * Practices of ceremonies are done to the cycle of the moon and stars, not dates. * The use of a wheel or circle of power indicating no less than the four directions of North, South, East and West * Honor of animals as kindred spirits with wisdom. Animals bring us messages and share their power. * Words, symbols, objects, and music all have power * We have access to the other levels/planes/vibrational levels to communicate with spirits/entities/energy * Pagans are not satanic. Satanism is Christian based not a pagan * Pagans do not believe in the Christian definition of the devil, hell, or evil.
Wiccan Rede Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out. To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much. Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune. Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two. When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail. When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth. When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow. Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland. Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning. White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine. Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be. Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain. When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn. As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all. When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.
In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way. When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall. Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know. When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend. Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.
Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.
These Eight words the Rede fulfill :
"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I'm a Pagan, but not a Wiccan. For a while I was leaning towards Wicca, but I didn't like it, even Wicca was too ... structured. Non-denominational is I. But anywho, I'm not a witch either, I believe in magick, but don't practice it really.
