I remember back in the day, when Magic is new and exciting, I bought my first Tournament Deck from my local hobby shop with money I saved up mowing the lawns etc. (Stingy Parents). The first card I saw in the box was non-other than the the Scaled Wurm (Not that great I know). At the time I was stoked. Basic 7/6 creature.


For the fun of it, discuss the first 'powerful' card you ever acquired.

The first pack i opened was when visions was newly released, one of the uncommons was king cheetah, and the rare was ovinomancer, which i tried to figure out how you were supposed to use him for quite a while. I then bought an ice age tourney pack and was all kinds of excited to get giant spider and other things that could block flying. thats about all i remember from back then. Rampage and shadow used to excite me too.

well, my first deck had no real cards that made me go wow.
it wasn't until onslaught when i found it.
most of my decks up until that point had merely been a mass of cards that where the art was either pretty, or had a few abilities (not always good abilities mind you, but just, abilities in general)
i had about six or seven decks, a red, green, black, white, blue deck, and a white black, and green blue.
none of them worked, anything that was remotely tribal/color oriented/part of a powerful strategy, i didn't have enough of. the most of any one card i had in my decks were land, and maybe singles or doubles at the most of other cards. (i bought cards sparingly my first year or two)

so, i pick up my onslaught pack, and the first card that got my attention was not the rare (Oversold Cemetary if anyone wanted to know, I ended up with three or four of those....)
but a very small, frail, weenie that wouldn't even be useful in a weenie deck.
nope, I bet if you look carefully on this page, you'll know what onslaught green weenie card enthralled me.

I remember when I was around 13 thinking that Volrath the Fallen was soooo cool.

I'm going to have to say the BoP is the wrong answer, the correct answer is wellwisher, yay mono-elf life gain/beats. Since it was an onslaught pack and not a core set or ravnica pack, BoP is kinda not possible.

Mine is Morinfen (from Weatherlight expansion) he is my first legendary creature card ever although he is darn crappy. xd
