I've noticed that there appears to be a lot of hatred for Esther. Personally, I liked her. She was very warm, friendly, willing to help out (which may have caused further problems), and could bring up the spirits of those around her.

That's just my opinion; I'm curious what the rest of y'all think of her.

Ohhh dear. This is one of those topics I have an ESSAY written on.

Prepare yourself for Michi's assault of words and (possibly) pwnage.

Esther Is A Solid Character- And There's Nothing You Can Do About IT!

Esther is a weak character! She did nothing but stand around and look pretty!

WRONG. Episode 16 of Trinity Blood shows Esther taking down an Auto-Jager with her shotgun when Ion was busy moaning over one of his grandma's friends. She killed General Radcon pre-anime, who happened to be a Methusalah. If you look in the series, she's kickass with a shotgun, but nobody pays attention.

Esther is a poorly-done character! She's happy-go-lucky all the time!

May I introduce you to the Star of Sorrow episodes? Esther was abandoned by her father at a church, and her only mother figure was Bishop Laura Vitez. Then Esther's mother figure, the only one she ever had in her ENTIRE LIFE, was killed by the Marquis of Hungary. Esther murdered General Radcon for revenge, and had plans to assassinate the Marquis, but that was stopped by Dietrich's betrayal, who she THOUGHT was murdered. She had her entire life manipulated by everyone around her, and you think she's happy-go-lucky after that!? You sick b*****d. As for poorly-done, she's not the female happy-go-lucky sidekick, as proven above. She does have her kind nature, but she's not spazzing around the Vatican throwing flowers into the air and skipping like a grade-school girl, nor yelling "HI EVERYBODY!!! : D : D : D : D".

She caused Abel's death!

This had its start in Episode 14, where Abel goes Crusnik in front of Esther for the first time. Esther was horribly terrified. And I dunno about you, but if you were Abel and you saw your friend (and possible romantic interest, if you're an AbelxEsther shipper like me *brick'd*) screaming and calling you a monster when you went into Crusnik form, you would freeze at the sight of her when you're about to kill your psycho older brother. 'Sides, Abel comes back to life, anyway, so stop moaning about it.

"Getting in people's ways" can also be looked at as 'trying to help'. She's living in a time where the human race is not the top dog anymore, and you're expecting her to mind her own beeswax and expect other humans to help themselves? The Pope would've been killed had she not escaped with him in Episode 20. Granted, he did get captured, but that's of his own inept foolishness, not Esther's.

Not to be rude...But, in what way is Esther a Mary Sue?

* Except for her shotgun skills, she lacks physical abilities, and can't suddenly go Crusnik when in tight situations

* Doesn't lead a perfect life in which everything goes her way (Dietrich manipulated her, her father abandoned her, her mother figure died...etc)

* Has a strong hatred of Methusalah, although this is reconsidered later (Mary Sues are friends with EVERYONE)

Yes, she may have been Queen of Albion in the end, but that's -by chance-.

Eh. If I have to pick a character I dislike most in TB, right now it would have to be Esther. She's not a Mary Sue per se and she is a rounded character, but the way she has to be protected by everyone and is the 'innocent' one the fans are supposed to relate to kind of iffs me.

She's better in the manga, though. In the anime she was just someone who had to be saved. Proverbial damsel in distress. XD;;;

Esther is how you say... anoying. Even if she is now Queen of Albion... I still say she's a whiny little girl.

Ahem. She's not Queen of Alabasta. She's Queen of Albion. Get your facts right.

If you ask me, this arguement is childish. There are those who support Esther and those who despise her. I for one support her, but I can understand the arguement presented by those who have a strong hate for her. However, those who seem to hate her seem to be making points that counter the one that they are all trying to make. Is Esther really such a bad person that you all must babble on about things that, in my opinion, are out of her hands?
