[This RP is for The Crimson One/Hex and myself only. For RP purposes this RP takes place before Crimson's trunk turns into a Sweet Thing.]  I t'd been a miserable day. She'd had to commute all the way from her ramshackle little apartment to the suburbs just to get to a job that had her filing away papers for hours. Just before the working day would have ended she'd been approached and told her services weren't needed any longer. They'd said it in a real pretty way but no matter how it came it still meant the same thing. Pez was jobless.
Again.
She kicked at a stray tin can savagely, sending it scuttling across the wood-chipped ground. She was currently traveling through a park. It was dark and she wasn't exactly in familiar territory but her natural sense of direction told her she was headed the right way to get home. It was taking longer than it really should have but she didn't care, dammit. She deserved to sulk a little at least, didn't she?
Pez absently reached up to touch her cheek just below the eye patch that still made her feel itchy. Her expression blanked slightly as she replayed what had happened in her mind again, wondering if there could have been anyway that she could have avoided the shrapnel...

Kai still wasn't used to living on his own, and he never thought he would be. It was a different place to live, a different area of town...and he saw his mother even less than before. but she wasn't giving him much of a choice. Still, there were some benefits...like in the suburbs, he didn't get weird looks when he tried to go out at night to take photos, using the darker lighting to get different scenes than he did in the daytime.
This had Kai walking through a strange park at night, somewhere in the suburbs, his camera at his side. He didn't exactly think about the possibility of danger, being sheltered as he was, and his mind was focused on the photos anyways. So when he saw someone walking through the park, he paused, keeping his distance.
Wow...she's kinda cute. The eyepatch is a weird fashion statement, but...
Kai being Kai, and not having enough guts to actually approach the girl, he instead brought up his camera and centered her in the sights as she walked by, waiting, waiting...

Pez's one good eye widened in surprise at the sudden bloom of light. She flinched away from the source, turning to look in confusion as soon as it was gone. Wasn't headlights, couldn't have been lightning (there weren't any clouds in the sky anyway). Her sight zeroed in on a shadowy figure, still fuzzy from the momentary blinding she'd gotten.
Wait... the sound. There had been a definite click or snap that had gone with the light. "Hey!" She reached up to scrub at her good eye with the palm of her hand, willing her night vision back more quickly. "Hey, what was that?" She found herself slightly aggravated at the thought of this stranger doing something weird.

"Ah, I...uh..."
You know, honestly, all the trouble coming next probably could have been avoided if Kai was a bit better at dealing with people. But most of his experienced involved people hurting him because they were angry, and she looked fairly mad from what he could tell...so rather than try and explain, he instinctively began to back away, and then flee.
Of course, he was hardly athletic, so she'd probably be able to catch up to him easily if she was.

Whoever it was didn't even bother with an apology, they just turned tail and began to run! She gritted her teeth, frowning deeply. "Hey!" Instinctively she began chasing after him - she'd asked a question and she expected an answer!
Or to at least find out what he'd done... running away like that was pretty suspicious. She began sprinting toward the figure running away, thankfully she was in a fairly good physical condition as opposed to the punk running away. It was no trouble catching up, she just had only to reach out and...
Her hand made a magnificent and definite swish sound as she missed his shoulder and swiped the air a few inches to his side. She'd expected to grab onto the runner and her miss threw her off, causing Pez to stumble. She let out a short cough of surprise and then promptly tripped, managing to catch herself on her hands and knees at least.
"Gah'dammnit!" She looked up and bristled even further. Insult had been added to injury! "Hey, STOP!" Futile? Perhaps, but worth a try. She'd never managed to stop someone who really wanted to get away with mere words before, though...

At least, thats what would have happened. Instead, she got a bit lucky, and as she stumbled forward...she hit Kai. Meaning she got a softer landing, while Kai landed face first into the ground.
Now, Pez was lying on top of what she would be able to see was an older teen, probably a high schooler, with medium length blond hair. Not that bad looking really, if she turned him around...at least until she saw the glasses now lying a few feet away and pictured the large frames on his face. He was kinda scrawny, too.
Meanwhile though, Kai was a little dazed, though if she turned him over he'd end up blushing a bright red.

Pez blinked, giving a small jubilant cry. What luck! She'd managed to stop him anyway! Strike this down as the first good luck she'd had tonight. She leaned back, sitting back against her calves as she reached down to turn the person over.
She scowled down at the blushing kid slightly, really it was just her default expression. "Why'd ya run away, hnn?" She folded her arms over her chest, refusing to get up from her position. She had him pinned quite nicely and he'd have to push her off to get away. From the looks of his scrawny little twig-arms he wouldn't be doing that any time soon. "Do something guilty, did'ja?"
The annoyance was gone now that she had him stopped and still. Her voice carried the tone of genuine curiosity along with someone giving a friend a ribbing.

Kai would, by sheer reflex, be bringing his arms up over his face to protect himself if she tried to hit him. Besides, he could barely make her out without his glasses, he just knew there was something that definitely felt female straddling him and pinning him down.
He was a bright, bright red.
"I-I, um...I was just taking pictures of the park and the, um...scenery..."
Yeah, scenery like pretty girls. Like her.
Luckily, if she looked, the camera was there as proof.

Pez blinked, her whole stature relaxing slightly. "Oh..." She moved off of him and stood up, hands on her hips. "Well... watch where ya pointin' that thing, eh? Nearly blinded me."
She felt a little foolish for having gotten so hot-headed over something so... trivial. A little grudgingly she leaned down, reaching out a hand to help the other up, being sure to keep her face turned slightly away so he couldn't stare like he knew he would.
"Sorry, I guess. Ya alright, then?" She began dusting him off, swatting lightly at his chest and moving down to his thigh on the off chance any grass or dirt had gotten on him.

There, ah...might be a bit of awkwardness as she brushed at his thigh, due to certain allocations of blood she was likely to notice. and her running her hand over him, even in a manner like that, would make the blush stay even as he blinked owlishly and tried looking around to find his glasses...in vain.
"I, uh...you don't happen to see any glasses around here, do you? I don't know where mine went, and I can't see without them..."
He paused for a moment, then turned to where he thought she was.
"And, uh...sorry about the picture and the flash..."

Pez paused in her dusting, eye narrowing slightly as a suspicion began, but then he turned toward her and spoke, diverting her concentration. "Glasses? Nerd..." She didn't bother trying to mumble it, really it was only an off-hand comment as she bent in half and began to walk carefully in a small circle around where they'd fallen. "What kin'ah frames you got?"
She glanced up a moment, sticking her hands in her jeans pockets so she made an interestingly straight angle. "Ah... innit kinda late for ya to be out so late, though? Ain't ya parents worried 'bout'cha?" She turned her face back down to scour the slightly damp grass, hair hanging down at either side of her face.

Ouch. At her calling him a nerd, he suddenly looked crestfallen. Yeah, he was called that often, but he'd started to let himself like her and then she called him that...it really did hurt, even if he was used to it. And his glasses wouldn't help much, being larger frames to accommodate the semi-thick lenses he needed to correct his vision.
And of course, he'd have to admit that, too.
So, he tried approximating the size of the lenses with his hands, as he spoke.
"They're about this big..."
Well, he had no chance with this girl now, it looked like.
"And I'm here to take pictures...and as my mother has me living on my own, I doubt she'd care much."
No mention at all of a father, there.

"Ahha!" She snatched the glasses out of the grass and stood up, holding them out by the stem. "Here yah are."
She blinked, able to focus on him for the first time. An eyebrow raised in interest as she gave a quick once over, a smile quirking her lip up as he responded. "Ah... on ya own, huh?" She gave a small nod and raise of her hands in a 'I'm backing off' gesture. "Alright, gotta respect that. I know how tough that can be."
She waited for him to take his glasses before placing her hands on her hips, looking him over a bit longer before nodding and turning her face away once more. She pointed toward where she was headed as a guise for her sudden turn away from him. "I'm headin' that way... how 'bout'chaself? Ah... name's Pez, by the way."

"I...ah..."
He took his glasses and put them on, the frames making him look decidedly more nerdish, before looking around, trying to figure that out. Unfortunately, with his random wandering, the running, and his lack of direction sense...he was clueless.
"Uh...no idea, actually...where's the parking lot? My car should be there, logically, unless someone took it..."
Then he paused, his mind realizing she'd introduced herself. Though Pez was an odd name.
"Um...my names Kai."

She perked up immediately and if he wasn't paying attention it might even seem like she'd suddenly teleported to stand right beside him, slightly leaning against his shoulder. She gave her best smile, batting her eyes...
...ah s**t. She'd forgotten about the patch again. To hell with it, she batted her -eye- at the slightly taller Kai, reaching out to take his hand warmly and shake it. "So pleased to make your company an' all that. Parking lot's that way." She pointed over his shoulder and slightly to the west.
He had a car, he had a car. It was already getting near completely dark, she definitely wouldn't make it home before then. She still had a portion through the suburbs to go, then the industrial area and finally toward the harbor where she was located. "Lemmie walk you to it. Least I can do for pushing you down like that."
