K, I know we have a topic around here somewhere debating which would win in a fight and this topic will not center on that discussion xp
After reading through some old posts I found a quote from someone (sorry I forgot who) which said Anita and Edward would be perfect lovers or perfect enemies, most likely perfect enemies. That made me start thinking. With the direction Anita is going I think it's a good possibility the next time Edward shows up he may not like her so much. Given the fact a lot of us like Edward and Anita both, that would totally suck. I've been imagining all sorts of situations that ends in him telling Anita the next time he sees her she'll be dead.
So~ now I'm wondering. Just how do you think the series would be if Anita and our favorite sociopath were to spend the next bit of it as enemies?

Edward is a professional killer. Anita just does it as a hobby.
If Edward said to Anita, "The next I see you, you'll be a corpse" then it'll end as such.
For if it had degenerated to such a happenstance, then previous sayings of Edward wanting to see who was better would probably fly out the window. He'd snipe her from a building.
Or he'd probably just avoid St Louis and you wouldn't see him again.
I don't think I'd like the series as much without the prospect of Edward. He is such a cool character.
Edward is the character in the Anita Blake series that makes you think that Anita is not all powerful because he could still do her in, albeit with a little more difficulty.
Without Edward, the series would be another "Ancient Future Trilogy", which is to say, a Mary Sue fic full of Original Characters.
It'd lose appeal.

It wouldn't flow through. Somehow the whole little "We'll see who's better" is nothing more than friendly banter between the two, something only they understand and no one else.
Plus it'd kinda kill off Obsidian Butterfly...It would never make sense since those two, from my view point, are good friends.

They both have semi the same killing and fighting skills but Eward has only him self Anita has her animals vampires and so on so not really a fair fight.

I'm not so sure about that, Mistress. Anita may have her animals, but Fenris made a very good, and in my opinion accurate, comment. I don't want to repeat anything already said, but I'm going to have to agree with Fenris. Assassination is Edwards job and if he really wanted to, he could kill Anita as fast or as slow as he wanted to. Anita may be the Executioner, but Edward is Death. The executioner in real life just guides the victim to death. They aren't the physical Grim Reaper. *shrugs* Ah well, I think I've started droning.

If there was an all out battle against the two of them...Anita would so win. She could use his Aura and slash him and stab him, if she didn't get shot first or stabbed. That is what I think anyways!

InuSaysLeGasp *shrugs* Ah well, I think I've started droning. I thought that said drooling for a minute.. I too am not so confident in Anita's ability to kill Edward, which is why I don't want to see it come to a stand off. But really, is there anyone here who can see it going to a place where Edward is comfortable with all Anita's new extras? And even if he doesn't go as far as to hate all the new chances, do you think he could risk the temptation of moving on to bigger and better game?

in my opinion i dont think that the fight would end with anita dead for several reasons. first reason is edwards wants to see who is better so he wouldnt do it from afar he would want it up close and personal. two anita is getting almost as good as him edward considers her an equal (which says alot about her) so if he isnt sure who would win then anything could happen i am at the point were it would be a draw or them both dead crying dont kill eddie anita....

Edward also only trusts Anita with his death. He knows that she'd make sure the job was finished. Edward would only hunt Anita if she became a monster, in his mind. He wouldn't hunt her, for the sport of it, not right now anyways...

Oh dear... what a predicament.... xp I highly doubt Edward would approve of Anita's recent developments in her preternatural/personal/sex life. But, I also highly doubt that he'd kill her outright for it. I think it's more likely he'd get fairly upset about it, and they'll have a huge row, guns will be drawn, shackles raised, tension thick enough to saw through.... then the audeur hits and Anita jump him and they get it on. ... sweatdrop Just kidding.

They'd end up having sex.
Then Anita would cry.
Then Jean Claude would console her.
Then they'd have sex.
Then they'd get a letter saying that council would be sending a bunch of sexy members to review something or another.
Then the book would end.
