Anyone here (besides me) read the Excel Saga manga? I have all the volumes up to 8. I think volume 9 is suppoust to be out sometime this month. If you haven't read it I urge you to! It's just a bit better than the anime. The humor is darker and they hint that something went on with some of the character's pasts.
That and I love the artwork. Koshi Rikdo is an excllent manga artist and an even better writer.
So anyone else read the manga? Want to disscuss it?

Oh, I love the manga! I actually read it before I watched the anime (I swear, my hometown is the anime capital of the Midwest - our Waldenbooks is PACKED with manga, and they've even started carrying anime accessories and movies, now. *huggles Menchi plushie*). I find it interesting how the two differ. The anime is more focused on poking fun at the rest of the anime world, while the manga seems more focused on poking fun at the Japanese world. I bet that ruffled a lot of feathers over there, since that's sort of a taboo kind of subject, unlike around here where anyone can make a film criticizing the government (and with good reason! But this isn't a political discussion).
They really started to split ways in Vol. 7, with the introduction of Elgala, so I'm curious to see how the manga will end. I think I read somewhere that they finished the TV series before the manga was over... does anyone know if that's true? Just curious.
Only four more volumes to go... don't start slacking off, Viz - get 'em out! The ignorant masses cry for more! xd

i think that the manga is a bit funnier than the anime (that's just me, and i only saw the Gagless episode of the anime). i think most of the anime is spent being random insead of the kinda jokes that the manga makes...and the bonus section owns me...

I have up to book nine which so far is the last one out. I like the manga so much more than the anime. But the manga doesn't have all of the charaters that the anime does. But, they might come in later. I also urge youto read the manga. 3nodding
