Since it was part of the 2 part episode---I found myself having to watch with bated breath. But I was drawn in by familiar puns, writing, and character profiles. At first I was sure I wouldn't get sucked in by a spin-off....what did you think of it? Were you predicting the good/bad plot or were you completely put off? (I know this should be under Joe's bar---but it was part of a 2 part G.A. episode smile

little news blurb 'Grey's' spinoff likely to get ABC slot 6 minutes ago LOS ANGELES - Will a "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff prove good medicine for ABC? "Private Practice," the tentative title for the drama featuring Dr. Addison Shepherd of "Grey's Anatomy," was considered an odds-on favorite for the network's fall schedule being unveiled Tuesday. The spinoff was tested as part of a special episode of ABC's hit medical drama that aired earlier this month. More than 21 million people tuned in, above the season average of 19.1 million for "Grey's." ABC had no comment Monday on the show's status. Kate Walsh stars as Shepherd, who leaves behind Seattle Grace Hospital and her ex, Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, for a fresh start in Los Angeles. She reconnects with a friend whose medical practice needs an obstetrician, and with the friend's former husband and business partner. Co-stars in the special included Merrin Dungey, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Amy Brenneman and Paul Adelstein

I kind of liked it. I love Taye Diggs so I'm a bit biased. I liked Addie's relationship with the new characters. It was interesting but not like Grey's.

I thought that the spin-off was decent. I'm excited to see more of it.

Thanks for the info Kalpini. It seemed like mixed reviews at first, and I wondered too what the Grey's cast felt at Walsh's new success.
Update: Friday, it was announced that ABC signed up for a season of Private Practice next fall. But they're also saying it's a 'tentative show title'. Can you think of a better name XP?? http://icydk.com/2007/05/12/its-officialabc-picks-up-private-practice/
It was also suggested that G.A. cast members weren't exactly happy with the loss of a fellow castmate who started her own show. What do you think? http://icydk.com/2007/02/28/greys-anatomy-stars-fuming-over-spin-off/
But it looks like P.P. is set for next fall---I wonder if it will be after Grey's?

I didn't like it. It crammed too much of a story that I don't even know into a little tiny bit of time.

I hated the idea when I first heard about it, but after watching the episode of Grey's I fell in love with the idea. I can't wait to see more of it.

I loved it. I think it's more mature(in the sense that it's more older people involved). Grey's was becoming too cluttered with people anyways.

I thought it was entertaining but it seems kind of trashy, it seems more like a humerous show unlike the serious aura of Grey's Anatomy (even though there are SOME funny things, most of it is completely serious).

Yay. I'm excited!
Rakwel - That's what I was thinking, it had a funny season one and season two-ish feel to it. Now Grey's is all serious, and I'm not sure if I'm still going to stick with it.

I didn't think that I would like Private Practice that much but my afew friends convinced me to give it a try. I was sort of suprised, it's actually quite good.

I loved the character of Adison so there was no question of if I was going to watch and like. Honestly though it seems to make me cry every episode so far. I donno if that's because I have been overly emotional lately or not. We shall see come tonight.
