Who: Ginny Weasley & Endless What: catching the boy at HQ! ^_^ Where: Realm HeadQuarters, one of the reading rooms When: now. 7 May 2007. Mid-Afternoon. Why: To get Endless to confront his feelings.
There was no doubt about it now -Ginny Weasley was pregnant. More than a maternal glow, even the sides of her robe buldged slightly at the new life inside her. She was not as large as Nari had been at this stage, so the youngest Weasley felt she could at least be certain there were not 6. Which is good. I don't want to imagine six at once! I still don't see how Mother did it before in the Burrows with 7 of us, mostly spaced.
The witch was both nervous and excited. She had yet to tell her brother, Ron, wanting to void the possible temper that would likely flare in her at such a meeting, not wanting to upset her unborn kits. At the same time she was very glad that kitsu pregnancy was not the nine months humans could expect.
Her thoughts were on this and others as she apparated just outside of the realm headquarters on a beautiful spring day. She had spent the better part of the day outside, playing with the permakit girls and watching Harry practice for Quiditch on his broom. Of course this far along Ginny had to conceed to the others' concerns that she not fly herself. So when the day reached its warmest -which was still pleasant- she had excused herself as she had each day since the full moon had waned to pop over to headquarters.
She was on a mission. Everyone -except perhaps the kits and fae folk who otherwise could not be expected to keep such things silent- knew about it. Ginny had waited out of courtesy until after the full moon, on th eoff chance that once confronted Endless would confess to Liliana who might want to go to her father. It would be heartless to have set it up so that she could not. Ginny could be mean, but she was far from heartless. And a little more time would not hurt anything. They've gone this long... what's a few more days?
But whether the one she obliquely sought had not been at headquarters the past few days or she had simply missed his times there, Ginny had been unsuccessful thus far in locating the kitsu Endless. She padded a little wobbily through the main room, glancing around only in passing for the tell-tale nightsky pattern of the male before heading past the kitchen & down the hallway to check on the smaller rooms that direction. Valefor had suggested he was more likely to be found there.
It's a beautiful day outside... here's to hoping that he's either already enjoyed it or otherwise just wanted to be inside.

The apparently much sought after kitsusagi in question happened to be behind the third door on the left today. He hadn't actually been away from home much the last few days. Atae had eaten something disagreeable on top of apparently discovering that she had pollen allergies, and he'd been looking after her. They'd finally found something that held the poor girl's sneezing and sinus pressure away, and since she seemed to be all right today he'd decided to get out for some air.
It was habit to wind up here when he went out for walks, so here he was. He was too late to catch Lily after her potions lesson, and he had no idea where she might be now, so he was now flopped on a cushion, belly up and staring at the cieling while trying to decide if he wanted to head back outside, take a nap, or dig up a book to read. For once he actually hadn't brought one with him.
He heard someone out in the hallway and heaved himself up, not expecting it to be his red-furred friend, but hoping it might be Lily all the same. He was surprised when he stuck his head out the door to look, however. Not unpleasantly surprised, per say, just a general sort of surprised. "Ginny?... I don't usually see you around here." Then again, he was usually too busy reading or waiting around for Lily to see much of anyone. "Ah... well... how are you doing so far with the eggs and all?" He might as well try to be polite and make some small talk, right? And maybe Ginny would have some idea of where Lily was. He wanted very much to see his friend after being cooped up in the house with an allergy afflicted kitsu for several days.

She was started to feel dejected at having not found him again when Endless' head poked out of one of the doors she had not gotten to yet. Quick brown eyes thought she caught a flicker of hope before the male's glowing eyes became surprised. Don't go reading too much into it yet, Ginny! Even if you are nearly sure!
Padding down to greet him Ginny gave a bright smile. "Yeah well, it's easier to stay at home or with Harry, you know." She blushed a little and gave him a wink. "He was an only child so starting a family..."
Ginny let the phrase trail out with a gentle shrug, watching Endless to see how or if he reacted. "We're doing well, though I'd like to put my feet up." The look she gave him was slightly sheepish, as if she was having hard time remembering that this far along her body just did not like to do things she could normally do with ease. "Mind if I join you for a little while? I could use the chat while I rest."
Light twinkled in her brown eyes. "Or do you already have company, Endless?"

Endless gave his trademark lopsided grin. "I guess I can see that..." He looked almost wistful for a moment. "It must be nice to be with someone you love. And he's an only child? His eyes must have been the size of serving platters when he found out..." He shrugged. "At least mine would be... if I ever heard that." Something in his tone bled the fact that he might like to hear that one day but for whatever reason he wasn't expecting to.
His eyes widened slightly when she mentioned putting her feet up and he quickly opened the door for her. "Oh... sure, come in." He turned his head to hide the brief flicker of disappointment when she asked about him having company. "Ah... no, I was on my own until you got here. Bit late for the end of Lily's lesson and Atae's still in bed with Soot watching her. Er..." he elaborated a bit, since Ginny didn't know what he was talking about, "It's Atae's first spring, and apparently she has horrible pollen allergies. She's had the whole headache, stuffy head, sneezing, and not able to sleep well bit for the last few days. We found something she can take that gets rid of it, so she's sorta catching up on lost sleep." He grinned sheepishly. "I had to get out of the house, I didn't even remember to bring something to read."
He led Ginny over to a pair of cushions and let her seat herself before joining her. "I remember when Diina was at that stage of her pregnancy. Ashaan didn't know what to do with her, she was complaining all the time and having horrible cravings." He shook his head. "I don't know how well you remember Diina... but she's basically our version of Chroma, so you can probably imagine she didn't take having to not do very much well at all. She was good humored about it, I don't know if she actually knows how to get mad... but she was still a tad grumpy."
Something else occured to him. "You know... I haven't met Harry. I heard something about him the other night, and from you just now, but I have no idea who he is."
Mentioning the other night of course brought something else to mind. She had seen him with Lily the other night after all, and he didn't really want her getting the wrong idea about it. No... no need to bring that up. This was just a friendly chat, right?

Ginny listened & watched covertly as she padded to the cushions he indicated and carefully lowered herself upon one of them. A small knowing grin seemed to tug at her mouth and bright brown eyes. She wondered what Liliana would think if the emotionally oblivious female knew one of her best friends was thinking of kits with her -as Ginny no doubt suspected Endless was doing.
Laughing, Ginny tossed her red mane lightly behind her. "Yeah... I remember Chroma pregnant. As cheerful as ever but whinning about how she couldn't run or play properly with her added girth. I'm actually doing pretty good with the normal pregnancy things. I hardly notice having a craving 'cause I can always get anything I'd like to eat anyway and if my legs start hurting too badly when I'm up doing something I can always just cast a levitation spell on myself for a while to ease the swelling." She laughed again, a warm smile that brightened her face and made her very beautiful taking root. "Trel says I'm a lot like she was when she was carrying Theron, except that I knew right away."
The witch grew thoughtful a moment, a her smile softening as she thought about her mate. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Harry doesn't get out much, aside from coming to see me. I think... I think perhaps it's because he had more than his share of being the center of attention at Hogwarts... before. He never wanted to be known... and here he does not have to be." She had loved him before in part for his heroism and I-have-to-do-this attitude on all that came his way, but Ginny found with the same troubles not here that she loved him still which meant more to her than anything.
"Allergies? That's no fun. Trel swears on something called 'sudafed' but I don't know if they make that for kitsu or not." There was not bothering to hide her uncertainty of muggle drugs but she shook it off. "As for reading material, there's always the library here. I don't remember if Liliana had a chance to show you ours, but I'm sure she and Remus would always welcome you there." She laughed, really expecting a reaction there. "Hemi too, of course."
"But then, except for the other night you've not really met Hemi... have you? You really should come over more often, Endless. I know Liliana would like having you and Edward both there." That's it... see how he reacts to that tidbit. Will he be jealous, I wonder? Brown eyes glistened.

Endless wasn't thinking about himself and Lily specifically, though he did find himself wondering how Lily would deal with pregnancy and if she might possibly seem even more beautiful with the famous "motherly glow." It seemed to have worked on Diina and Ginny.
"For all that she didn't seem to enjoy the restrictions very much I know she's looking forward to more. I think she missed the kids being little. I guess that's the good thing about the Soots, huh?" He frowned slightly for a moment, thoughts of Soot also bringing up more thoughts of Atae. "I'm glad Lily started talking to her dad again... Atae hasn't just cut me off like that, but it's... difficult, I guess? She used to talk to me about everything, but she doesn't so much now. But I guess kids have to try and figure things out for themselves at some point." It was difficult to tell if he actually knew why Lily had stopped talking to Remus in the first place, but he quickly changed the subject so there wasn't much opportunity to find out.
"I'm sure he's a good guy. You all have been, so far. Maybe I'll meet him sometime? I don't really know anything about your before, so he doesn't have to deal with that from me." He shrugged. "I guess... I get kinda jealous of you guys. You all seem to be so close. I never... really had that."
"Atae's doing a lot better now. I'm not sure what Kitsyn gave her but it seems to be doing the trick. And there's a library here?... I didn't realize that. Maybe I should bring her over, she likes libraries and... sometimes it's a much more relaxing place than home. Everyone's nice but it can get loud." He smiled at a fond memory. "At least Atae's not jumping at every loud noise and every new person anymore. I used to worry about her."
"Hemi? Oh, yeah. He's a cute kid. Lily talks about him some when we chat..." He did look uncomfortable when Ginny mentioned Edward. It was a look that said he'd probably have been jealous if he felt like there was a reason to be. "I... er... would it really be ok? Things were so crazy over there before... but I guess you guys are used to visitors?" If she really though it would make Lily happy... he could try dropping by. He'd just have to try to ignore the mass of people. Not that he didn't like them. He just wasn't very good with crowds, though he'd been doing better since he'd been taking care of Atae and making friends with Lily. Hanging around either of them seemed to ensure he'd run into a lot of people all at once sooner or later.

She laughed easily again. "Yeah... Chroma was that way with her pregnancy. She thought it was short, despite all the ways it kept her from playing." The thoughtful look was back. "But they do grow up fast, don't they? We've four permakits other than our sout, 5 if you count Trin but she's only like a kit in behavior half of the time. I suppose that comes from being even older than Remy. Eh... Remus." She looked chagrinned at the slip.
Ginny focused instead on other matters. "You could say we're used to visitors. I mean, Rem's family is always in and out & now the fullmetal teen is staying for a while. Seems he's mad at his father... or at least the kitsu that raised him. Lily didn't go into it, just that she wished there was more she could do, especially how close she and her Daddy are. Our friends are welcome anytime."
Brown eyes watched him closely. "I guess we're close because of our shared memories & knowledge. It's easy to clique with others that way. But Remus' family... they're better than others at getting out of the wizard box." She giggled, still keeping an eye on the male. "Rem's kept friends with Sirius, but his other friends aren't wizards. Certainly not his mate and best friend. Vynn seems to have found a strange one, but he's not a wizard either & Lily... well Lil has you & Edward, hasn't she? The way she talks, you're near enough family for her."

"Our Soot's an old soul, like your Trin I guess. Was around before I was. Looking after Soot is actually why I ended up staying in the area... though I realized after a while Soot didn't really need looking after. The little puffball ends up taking care of us as often as the other way around." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "We've got five, total. A triplet group of angelic troublemakers, Soot, and a little striped one named Damerion, though he usually does his own thing. Thinks he's a prince frozen in time, or something..." He snorted softly in amusement and then tilted his head at Ginny. "I take it Remus doesn't like being called Remy?"
As she went on about how often they had visitors Endless actually let out a low whistle. "You guys... have a lot more traffic than we do." He snorted again. "Of course you also have a lot more by way of residents than we do, too." He paused. "There are actually quite a few more non-kitsusagi creatures living around us. Considering most of them are the size of horses, if not larger, I'm amazed they stay so well hidden."
He could more than empathize with Edward when she mentioned him being angry with his father. Endless' own father was the one person he could say he truly hated. Even for as much as he disliked Envy for the things he'd done, that was like holding a candle to the sun. Not that... Ginny really needed to hear about that, so he decided not to say anything about it.
He remembered hearing about Vynn...essia? and her sudden announcement about having a mate the other night when he'd first seen... most of Lil's family. Seeing all those family members together having fun and just being happy to be around one another... made his heart ache. "Box or not... I wish I had people I was close to the way you all are. Or seem to be, anyway, I imagine with that many siblings in Lily's family there must be some friction somewhere..."
Her last comment though made him stop and gape for a moment. Lily really talked about him a lot? And like that? He had to turn away for a moment, even if she couldn't actually see his blush. He had a feeling the way his ears went back and the way he was acting made it fairly obvious.
"Lily's... the first real friend I ever made... I told her before she's like family to me..." He looked back at Ginny, seeming slightly confused. "I mean... Atae and Soot are like family too, but I sorta raised them..." He didn't seem to even know what he was trying to get across so he tried the next thing on his mind instead. "Does she really talk about me all that much?"

"That could be an understatement. Chroma's the only one who really gets by with calling him Remy, and I think it's more because there's nothing he can say back to her to make her stop..." Ginny blinked and grinned, realizing where the conversation had turned with hardly any prodding from her at all.
She did not bring up the friction between Lily and MauCho -that was between the sisters & Liliana's right to mention- nor how Katsumi always seemed angry, but yes... she could see how Endless might feel that way. Ginny had been lucky to have been enveloped into the family as if it was her own. Both of them and Remus' too.
Ginny could not help but smile, doing her best to soften the effect appropriately. "Of course she does. And why wouldn't she? You're friends, right? Lili's comfortable around you. I've seen that much."
Brown eyes flickered, wait or ask. It was clear now to her beyond a doubt that Endless had perhaps more than a casual crush on her crimson furred niece. But did he admit it to himself yet?

Hearing Ginny's words brought a small smile to Endless' lips, a rather rare occurance even if she might not realize the fact. That Lily though so much of him that she would speak of him frequently brought what could only be described as joy to his heart.
But why did it effect him so? And why was his only desire right now to find Lily and... just be around her and hug her and enjoy her company? Nobody else made him feel like this. And it was such a nice feeling... why did it scare part of him most of the time? Not now... he was too happy at the moment for that. But still... still... Lily meant the world to him. More than the world. And as much as he cared about Soot and Atae, neither of them had ever provoked such... such... avid devotion.
Ginny's question was answered in a very conspicuous manner when Endless' eyes widened, ears went back, and his entire posture became one of frozen shock. All those thoughts about how pretty Lily was, wanting to be around her all the time, all those strange pangs of the heart when he wanted to go see her and couldn't, or when he saw her with her younger siblings and thought she'd be a good mom, and especially those thoughts that pregnancy would probably make her more beautiful not five minutes ago...
He knew he'd been skirting the issue for a while, but it hadn't ever really been this obvious before. To him at least... The looks Lily's family had been giving him the other night, all the teasing from Ifrit and Valefor's veiled attempts to ask him about it... Dear God, everyone must have noticed but him and Lily. ._. He couldn't help an almost frightened look to the side to see if Ginny looked as smug as he thought she might.

If she could read his thoughts Ginny would have looked smug. As it was she had to decypher the male's reactions and hope his body language was saying what she thought it was. The brow ridge over one eye quirked questioningly and her ears twisted slightly as the witch contemplated him.
"Endless... What do you feel for my niece?" Her voice was soft, gentle, persuasive. The tone set carefully to not frighten. She paused, pushing a strand of flame red hair away from her face as she gazed intently upon him with unwavering brown eyes. "You don't have to tell me, but you should tell her. Liliana's not the type to see..."
Her voice trailed off, trying to find the right words. "She'll never know if you don't tell her. It's not her way."

"I..." his voice almost cracked, and he tried to swallow, but at the moment his mouth was dry. His mind was whirling and it was almost impossible to order his thoughts, so he just ended up sitting there for a few minutes.
Eventually a look of wonder settled on his face. "I... love... Lily?" He looked a bit on the comical side, testing it out like that, but all he was really concerned with was that it sounded... true. Deep in his heart he knew for certain it was true when he heard himself say it, even in that questioning tone, and it helped center him again.
He was silent again for a few moments. "How do you... think she'd take it?" The one thing he was afraid of right now was the possibility of losing their friendship... he knew that sometimes things like happened with these situations. Ginny might have a better idea of what to expect, or she might not, but... he felt better asking anyway.

She stayed quiet, giving Endless the time & silence he might need. Ginny felt her own heart warm at his questioning confession, a broad grin curling on her muzzle. Quickly she smoothed her beaming to a gentle smile, waiting.
His question did not surprise her. The family had continued to discuss the possibilities long after Valefor had left with the angelic kit Seer and on into the next days off and on when not around Liliana herself or any that would be prone to spill the beans that she was being talked about. Brown eyes met Endless' glowing ones with a bright intensity of their own. "Truthfully?" Her eyes were unflinching. "She's most likely to think you mean family love -and not in the "make a family" type way- and blithely say she loves you too."
The red head sighed, lowering the intensity of her gaze and letting her chin fall to her paws but without looking away. "You'd have your work cut out to get her to see what you really mean and then..." Ginny sighed heavily. It was hard, talking about Liliana behind her back like this but they had all agreed it was the only way. "After that who knows? She might need time away like she needed upon hearing about the new kits, or run to someone to help her -hopefully Remus, Trel, or I. Could be she loves you in return... but no one knows."
She blew softly on a strand of loos hair. "Tell her. Court her. You've got to do something to find out or it'll eat you up inside. One thing I do know - no matter what she will always be your friend. The only way to break that is to hurt her or her family."
Had that helped? Ginny watched with raised eyes from her head's lowered position. She liked Endless. He was a good guy. And she did not want to see him hurt.

"I suppose... I'm not surprised by that. Atae was there when Lily finally figured out why she was so upset about her father having new kits. She asked me about it when she found out I was friends with Lily but... There wasn't really anything I could do or say about that. I never even told Lily I knew..." He finally let himself relax down into the cushion again. "Though... seems I'm almost as bad as Lily at recognizing some feeling, huh?"
The thought of having to work at it to get Lily to see how he really felt brought to mind a rather comical image of chipping away at a dam labeled "Lily's Understanding". He snorted the silly thought away. "It's for both of us, though, isn't it? Finding out. She needs to know that there are other people out there who could love her... and realize that she could love someone else like that. Even if it's not me." He rolled over on his back to stare at the ceiling as he had been before Ginny got there. "At least I don't have to worry about losing her all together... I don't know if I could take that..."
Suddenly he rolled back over and sat up. He felt like he'd just fought some sort of battle and faced several more. But he also felt immensely relieved. Some of the tension that constantly plagued him had disappeared. I guess I was fighting this off as much as not realizing it... "I think I could use a bowl of water. Er... you want to join me or do you have other plans now?"

That surprised her. "You knew? I mean really knew? We suspected... I mean it was obvious with as much of a Daddy's girl Lily has always been, but no one really knew." Still in shock, Ginny shook her head. "No... I don't think it's quite the same. Close, but not quite." She looked at him unfalteringly. "My guess is that subconsciously you were avoiding your feelings. Lili has a tendency to not even think of her own feelings. She just does."
Her head sunk further into her paws. It ached inside to hear Endless talk like that, and she almost was tempted to have a talk with Liliana herself to talk her into the relationship. Scratching the thought Ginny hoped there would be no need. He really means it. Only acknowledged his feelings today and already has the strength of love to let her go. Or is he just being resigned and not getting his hopes up? "I think you'd both benefit... I'm just not sure how and like anything learned it could hurt..."
Bah. Some help she was being. As he rose she quirked a brow, slowly lifting her head off her paws. "Other plans? What, you don't think I was here only to find you and have this talk do you?" The fiery tempered female teased, laughter dancing in her brown eyes at having said the truth however obliquely. Slowly she rose with a mild grown for the strain her added mass gave her, then smiled. "Water sounds terrific. Maybe some tea too. So I'll join you. I can always apparate home when I get too uncomfortable. Benefits of being able to use a wand."
