It's been 30 years since Jaws was in theaters and i do not think this movie is scary at all. I never even found it scary even when i was a child. By today's standards i believe this movie is tame. My brother tells me it was scary when it came out but then again he is 30 and i am only 17 so i guess it was scary then, but i dont know it is with people and their fear of sharks. In the horror category this me disapointed me, on the other hand in the comedy category it does'nt disappoint, it makes me laugh like crazy.
The sequels dont help the movie look any scarier either, they are just terrible, especially jaws 3 and jaws: the revenge.

You have to take into consideration when it was released. When it was released this movie was frightening to a lot of people. 30 years ago special effects weren't what they are now. Today people see violence on TV all the time so everyone becomes desensitized one way or another. I wasn't scared either but I still enjoy it every time I see it. I had a friend that had her tv brought out near her pool for a Jaws party and she had friends over and they all watched it from the pool while sitting in innertubes. That made it extra scary for them, and everyone that watched it didn't want to go back into the pool afterwards. But back to the movie, if you thought it was tame fine but to many (including me) it's a classic that will be cherished for a long time.

Of course it was scary when it was first released, why do you think it's one of the 3 most terrifying movies ever made? That movie is the reason people don't go in the water.

It has a different effect for most people. It's very tense, and well crafted. Scary? it has it's moments.

I never thought it was scary either but I did get a little nerves when I went swimming in the ocean. The movie is some what real cus their are big great white sharks out their that could get you next time you go to the beach.

i didn't think it was scary, but my friend hates sharks so it really scared her, and when it was first released my mother went to see it, she told me it scared her. but by todays standards of horror films, its mild. (my opinion)

I liked Jaws more as a good bubblegum action movie, more than a scary film.
The shark music is immortalized into cinema, of course, and I enjoyed the diversity in the characters.
It's shitty that sequels were so terrible, though.

Jaws isn't really a scary movie, but a very well-done movie. I love watching it and it's one of those flicks I can see time and time again. I love the characters and old Bruce. It's more exciting than thrilling, really.
