Which do you prefer and why?
I prefer mechanicle pencils. Here are my reasons in easy to read bullet format.
-Last longer, just buy replacement lead -You can write smaller with them -Kill less trees.

I really prefer mechanical, they write neater, they look nicer when you draw with them usually if you don't need to shade, and you don't have to get up constantly to sharpen them. I hate that.

I don't mind the sharpening part, but I hate having to do it in front of a class... just like blowing my nose.

Well, I like mech. for outlines and writing, and trad, for shading. I simply can't get the same shaded effect with a mech. pencil. Fact.

<.< That's why you don't smash down the lead, or extend the lead too far...

i prefer traditional, wooden pensils. they're reliable, you know exactly how much lead you have left, and they're not as hard to sharpen as the plastic-ish pensils.

Prince_Endymion i prefer traditional, wooden pensils. they're reliable, you know exactly how much lead you have left, and they're not as hard to sharpen as the plastic-ish pensils. I just shake my mechanical pencils to see how much lead is left.

Heh, yeah, wooden pencils are better than mechanical pencils, if you're referring to the cheap-o dime-a-dozen kind of mechanical pencil. 3nodding
Now, if you were willing to spend a few cents extra, you could get the less numerous, but better quality kind of mechanical pencil.
These kinds are better than wooden pencils in that: -Long eraser, with some brands having refills. (generally 3x the length of traditional erasers.) -Clear body, so you can see how much graphite you have left. (or you could do like Kibarox does and shake it.) -Will not break as easily as wood, or the cheap-o kind of mechanical pencil.

I get the cheap-o ones... and the ones that people drop on the floor and leave. They last me for a few years, but I run out of eraser rather quickly. Someday I hope to own one of the awesome ones Gler is talking about, but until then i'll stick to the cheap-o mecahanicle ones.

i still prefer the wooden ones. and the erasor isnt realy a problem because i prefer white ones. or was it blue... i dunno. i dont know why but the color of the erasor says alot about the marks it'l leave behind.

Yea, by the end of the school year I had used up all my pencil erasers except for the really crappy rock hard ones that did nothing but rip the paper. Those were so annoying to use on exams.
