Akila returned to the beach she had found in her foalhood, pale hooves lifting high and coming down onto the sound with a soft sound. The light breeze riffled through her mane, blowing it out of her face as she tossed her head. With a whinny she leapt into a run, simply to feel the pleasure of running, here along the sea.

The stallion had been walking along the edge of the beach letting the waves hit his legs and occassionally spray water upon his back. He loved the feeling, when he had been young the waves would knock him over so he played games with them, daring the waves to get him and then he would run from them. He was older now but on the odd occassion he would still play.

Today he had been taking things steadily, just going on a nice and simple walk. Turning his head he looked one way and then the other, his ears pricking up. Eventually his red eyes spotted a blue female running in his direction.

He snorted a little and moved further out into the sea though making sure to not move too far so the water wouldn't sweep him away.

"Hey!" He shouted after her though he hadn't a clue whether she would hear him or not.

Akila nickered in acknowledgment, turning just a little so that she was coming up to the stallion. She splashed into the waves, pale stockings kicking up spray as she went knee-deep before coming to a halt. "Hello!" she replied cheerfully, azure eyes looking the stallion over. She'd never seen such curls, and his patterning reminded her almost of some kind of fish. "Having a nice day?"

Ahmik looked at the female and smiled, lowering his head as she spoke back to him.

"Yes thank you, a lovely day, how about you?" He was polite, he had learnt that when he was a young colt and after all what impression would you make if you were harsh to everyone you met? His father had also taught him to be gentle to females though Ahmik still didn't know why.

"Very well, thank you!" Akila laughed and danced sideways a little out of sheer exuberance. The ends of her mane and tail floated on the water, tugged about by the waves, but she barely seemed to notice. "A good day for the water, it's just about warm enough for it!"

"Is it? I didn't really notice. I live down here and go in the water often so I guess I don't really notice whether its cold or not. I'm just use to it!" He laughed a little. His tail was flicking behind him to avoid the waves, anothing thing he use to do when he was a young colt and he now did it without realising he was doing so.

"I am Ahmek, who are you?" He asked curiously after all he needed to know what to call her because just calling he mare or miss might possibly annoy her.

"I'm Akila," she replied, dipping her head and getting yet more of her mane wet. But she hadn't come to the beach to stay dry, quite the opposite. "Well I was thinking about trying a swim, it might be a bit easier now that I'm older. Do you know how?"

He was pondering on her name for a while as she asked her question about swimming, something that he adored!

"You have a lovely name and yes I know how to swim, I have lived down here all my life." He spoke cheerfully after all this was probably the best thing he had done in a while, he loved to swim but hadn't been swimming with anyone for a long time.

"Have you ever tried to swim before?" He had to ask, if she hadn't then he would have to teach her which he didn't mind in the slightest.

"A friend taught me how when I was little, but I don't know how good I am," Akila admitted, tossing her head to try to get some of her long mane away from her face. "The ocean's a lot different from a river...rivers don't get quite so deep."
