Early Saturday mornings were excellent times for escaping the house, and this particular morning was no exception. With a cooing Caleb snuggled against her chest, Amyla was happily seated on a park bench, about half a dozen meters from the playground equipment. All of her kids went in every direction on Saturdays, some to school, some to tutoring, some to weapons lessons--though she felt she really ought to take Kayce's swords away, new developments considered--, and some had the oddest urge to go running around a playground. Considering the company Yana had been keeping as of late, Amyla had readily agreed and taken the young girl out to the nearest park.

Yana was enjoying herself immensely. She was free of family, free of annoying siblings and major rivalries. She ran across one of the playground bridges and immediately started to swing across a set of bars, her body turning from side to side as she reached out first with one arm, then the other. She swung up onto the platform on the other side and headed for the slide, careful not to sit on her tail. That tended to hurt... a lot.

This was tiring, following two little ones who are hyped up, even though they hadn't eaten sugar for the past day. "Stephen, Lavanya, slow down!" She yelled after them. The playground was not far off from where they were, but she didn't want them scampering too far ahead. Lavanya started to slow, but Stephen turned his head and said something to her to get her to ignore Rebecca. She glared at him, grateful that at least her daughter came back.

Lavanya took Rebecca's hand, still walking faster than her mother's pace and forcing her to speed up. Ah... There it was. "Go on," the words of release were all the little pink unigirl needed before she sped off, trying to catch up to her brother who was already racing towards the monkey bars. Rebecca shook her head, chuckling quietly before heading towards a nearby bench to sit down. Noticing its other occupant, she paused, waiting for either acknowledgement or to be ignored.

Stephen was running, his long hair streaming out behind him as his jewlery clinked. He went nowhere without his shinies, especially not in public. A few pieces had gone missing now and then, but he'd get 'em back from Anya before too long, he figured. He climbed the ladder to the top of the monkey bars, grabbing the first one and swinging. His hooves caught the next bar. Wriggling creatively soon found him on top of the bars, a precarious perch. "This is my castle, Anya! Go 'way!"

"If you don't let me play, I'll tell mom!" Lavanya replied, swinging across the bars until she reached where Stephen was currently sitting. She lost momentum and hung there for a moment, just long enough for Stephen to reach down and unclip her clippie. Hair falling in her face, she dropped, stomping her hoof on the ground at this injustice. "Play fair!"

Having the sharpest hearing of the three present family members, Caleb was the first to be alerted to the sounds of interesting people on approach. He peeked his head up over his mother's shoulder, uttering up a string of happy babble at the sight of two very... weird-looking kids. Hey, he had siblings that looked like that!

Amyla turned as well, chuckling softly as the two unikids headed straight for the playground. Good. Maybe Yana wouldn't be all alone on this morning, provided the kids didn't completely ignore her. She doubted it, though; kids that age weren't usually that cruel, a few of her own oddball children excepted. Seeing that Caleb was still giggling at something, she looked up and saw the other woman, and her face split into a friendly smile. "Hi! I'm guessing those two are yours?" she said, grinning a bit as she heard the siblings' argument.

Yana had just reached the bottom of the slide when she spotted a blur of something bright in the edge of her vision. She jogged back around the equipment and over to the monkey bars, tilting her head back to squint up at the one on top and then looking down at the more brightly-hued one standing on the ground. She managed to catch 'Play fair!' falling off the girl's--at least, she was pretty sure it was a girl--lips, and she tilted her head to one side, glancing back and forth between the two. "Hi...?" she said tentatively, not sure whether or not she wanted to intrude on this... discussion.

Rebecca smiled at the woman, nodding. "Yeah, they're mine." Chuckling, she sat down beside the stranger. Shaking her head slightly, she looked out across the playground, eyes landing on her two. "He's going to get himself hurt, I swear." She mumbled. Stephen was not a monkey, why on earth did he enjoy getting up there. "She yours?" Nodding towards the other girl, her eyes flicked back to the woman beside her.

Stephen looked up at the other girl, beaming happily. "Hi!" His hand still clutched Anya's clippie. "Who're you?"

"Steeeepheeeeen," Lavanya whined, leaping up to try and grab his leg, which he pulled out of reach. "Gimmie my clippie!"

Chuckling softly at the image of the uniboy up atop the monkey bars, Amyla shifted Caleb's weight on her lap around her belly. "They're adorable. I wish a few of my kids would play together like that," she said, grinning a bit. They were, indeed, a cute pair, if a bit hyper. She was brought back to reality by the woman's question and nodded in response. "Yes, that's my Yana. She gets some of her... less human... traits from her father."

On her lap, Caleb cooed at the other woman and waved a chubby hand, the other hand clutching the teething ring that he was gnawing on with surprising ferocity. "Oh, and this is Caleb. I'm Amyla, by the way," his mother added quickly, shifting Caleb's weight again. He was getting rather heavy. She fervently hoped he started to grow and mature soon.

Still glancing back and forth between the two unis, Yana just managed to catch the end of the boy's question. "I'm Yana. Who'rrrre you?" she asked, careful to annunciate. She glanced back down at the girl, who was jumping up and down beside her, aiming for the leg and saying something about 'clippie.' "What'sss a clippie?" she inquired curiously, her gaze still flitting back and forth between the two.

"Yana... Pretty," Rebecca commented, smiling at the little one and waving back. "I'm Rebecca. A pleasure to meet you, Amyla. The two unikids are Stephen and Lavanya. Just... a small warning. Keep all shiny objects out of sight. I swear, they're like ferrets." She smiled and shook her head, reaching down habitually to make sure the key to her house was still in her pocket, where it belonged.

"I'm Stephen! That's Anya!" He pointed to the brightly colored girl, who was now climbing up his "castle" the way he had, but having a bit more trouble. "Thisa clippie!" He opened his hand to show off the glinting metal and fake gems, grinning victoriously.

Lavanya managed to wriggle carefully up on top as well, staring down at the ground. "Isa long ways down..." She whispered, clinging to the bars and refusing to move.

"Thank you. It's short for Aryana, but we never call her by her full name," Amyla said, watching Yana interact with the other two children. "Pleased to meet you as well, Rebecca," she added, double-checking to make sure she had her keys in her pocket. Losing the car and house keys would be very bad right about now. "All right. All shiny objects staying hidden." She had to laugh a little, though. She hadn't worn jewelry much since Caleb was born. She supposed that was a good thing.

Caleb made an odd purring sound, twitching his long tail about and giving Rebecca a very cutely innocent look. He continued to gnaw on his ring as he stared at her, sharp teeth making short work of the toy.

After repeating the names, her pronunciation a bit off but close enough for her own purposes, Yana stared up at the clippie. "Ohhh. A hairrr clip!" she said, grinning a bit. "It'sss prrretty." She glanced over at Anya, watching as she struggled to climb up atop the bars. "Why'rrre you up ddderrre? Eassssy t' fall."

Rebecca nodded, watching Caleb. "He's a real cutie, isn't he?" Glancing back out at her two, she sighed. Cupping her mouth with her hand, she yelled "Stephen! Help Lavanya get down!" She shook her head at her two, sighing quietly.

Lavanya heard her mother, but still clung to the bars. Whimpering quietly, she held perfectly still. "Because I want my clippie!"

The boy sighed, crawling over to Anya. He clipped her clippie into some of her hair. "C'mon, Anya."

"Iun wanna fall!" She whined, staying attached to the bars.

Amyla snorted softly. "Cute, yes. High-maintenance... most definitely," she commented, her point proved when the infant instantly reached out with both arms to be cuddled. She obliged. She wasn't surprised at the order Rebecca called out to her kids. Hooves and bars didn't mesh well.

Yana, perplexed by this train of logic, said, "So jussst make him give it t' you!" It was, apparently, the most obvious thing in the world. She watched Stephen crawl over to Anya, sighing quietly. They just didn't know the mechanics of monkey bars, did they? You were meant to hang from them, not crawl on them! "Hold onto one of the barrrrsss wittt yourrr handsss and dddden drrop between dddem. Dddden you can hang frrrom the barrrsss and jump down." Really, it was all quite simple. The bars weren't all that high, even to her.

"Sounds surprisingly familiar," Rebecca chuckled, watching her two carefully. She didn't trust them not to get hurt. They were children, after all.

Lavanya peered down between the bars at the world below. Just drop down, eh? That sounded easy. She started to wiggle down the way she'd come up, but when she gave a small slip, she went back to hugging the bars. "Iun wanna fall..."

"Yana, help from down there?" Stephen asked, not wanting to scare Anya more. Stupid Anya, climbing up here when she didn't like high places.

Amyla had the utmost trust in Yana, so she worried little about the girl around the playground equipment. The deaf girl took no unnecessary risks. "But we love them anyway, don't we?" she replied, watching the two unikids more closely. "She isn't a climber, really, is she?"

Yana sighed and stomped her foot on the ground. She could barely read what Stephen was saying, and it frustrated her. She ran over to the side platform and clambered up it before climbing her way atop the monkey bars and crawling her way across the top, completely unbothered by the height. She tapped Lavanya on the shoulder. "Like dis," she said, easing herself down between two of the bars until she was hanging from them by her hands. She let go and dropped to the ground before looking up at the unikids. "C'mon!"

"We do," through everything. Through everything, you loved them. No matter what. "No. Lavanya loves the ground. Stephen enjoys being high up. His dream is to fly, weird as it is. He hates the birds for beating him to it." She chuckled, remembering when she had found this out. That had been the biggest hissy fit since his necklace had "disappeared" a.k.a. stolen by his sister.

Lavanya whimpered softly, but followed Yana's example carefully. When she fell, her hands let go too soon, causing her to land on her hooves, which thankfully weren't hurting that badly. "Th-thank you."

Amyla laughed, shaking her head. "Children's dreams are so amusing. I should have my mate take Stephen up for a flight. Aiodhan always wants to take the kids up, but most of them dislike heights, and the ones that don't are too big or major fussbuckets," she said, rolling her eyes in amusement at the thought. Ah, children. She shifted Caleb on her lab again, smiling as he patted her distended belly. She doubted he understood the concept of 'baby', but it was sweet, nonetheless.

Yana grinned broadly as Lavanya touched down safely. "You'rrrre welcome," she said happily, shifting her weight from foot to foot. "See? Ssss'not dddat bad!" She glanced up at Stephen. "Arrre you gonna ssstay up ddderrrre?"

"Stephen would probably follow your mate around like a duckling to its mother afterwards." Rebecca warned, smiling happily. She chuckled at Caleb after watching Lavanya long enough to ensure she was okay.

Stephen shrugged. "Iunno." He slid over to the side bar, looking down. Without hesitation, he pushed off, landing without too much concern. "What're we gonna do?"

Amyla chuckled. "And what makes you think he'd mind? Aiodhan has only two sons in the house. The rest of the kids are female, and I think he's sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of girls around." She grinned, stroking Caleb's hair and watching the three older children talk.

Yana tilted her head to one side and looked back and forth between the two. "I don't know. I usually play by mysssself herrrre," she said, shrugging casually. She vaguely remembered a nearby site of interest and brightened. "Oh, ddderrre's a rrrock pile over ddderrre," she said, pointing. "It'sss got lotsss of big and little rrrockss, and sssome of dddem are cool-looking."
