The sun was setting on the Pridelands as Sekizen made his way to the densite that they called home. It had been yet another day of exploration and discovery for the little one- every day on the open savannah opened his eyes to yet another brilliant string in the web of life. He had yet to meet his father, and his siblings were hardly ever around by the time the little cub got up. He always spent his days alone in the solitude of the gorgeous open lands.
Yet despite all this, there was just something comforting about being at home with one's family. Someday something may outweigh that feeling, but for now, all Sekizen wanted to do was be with his family. He saw his dark mother in the distance and bounded off to her, keeping a straight face as he went.

Tufani was glad that her children were starting to explore the Pridelands, getting chances at life that she never had as a cub. The world was safe here, apart from a few things that she'd have to warn her daughters about when they got older. Still, with six little ones bounding about, including the future mate of one of the heirs, she was always a bit relieved to see them bounding home.
So she found herself smiling at her son who was her opposite, white with black markings instead of black with white markings. She had to resist the urge to laugh at how serious he seemed; she'd never heard of a cub who kept such a straight face! Then again, she hadn't met many lion cubs before she had her own, so perhaps this was normal. "Hello, Sekizen," she called to him, "I hope you haven't been causing too much trouble today."

"Of course I haven't, mother!" the little one said sweetly. "I can't say anything about my brothers and sisters though... they woke up before me," He told her. He had been out exploring the lands, and that brought his mind to what he had seen on this day.
"Mom, I saw a big huge crack in the earth today! Lots of rocks around it, but they're very strange," the cub said as he pulled out a pink semitransparent stone from in between two of his black toes. He'd finally found a purpose for his no good foot.
It looked almost like a diamond if it weren't for the pink color.
"There was a really big one above ground, I smashed off a piece of it with a rock to bring you!" He said, allowing a smile to come on his face.

Tufani stared at the strange rock in utter confusion. This was nothing like anything she had ever seen before, though it was exceptionally beautiful in her opinion. "Why thank you, sweetie," she gasped. "Where in the Pridelands did you find this?"
Of course, she was probably going to regret asking this question. She was already a bit unnerved that one of her children was playing in a "big huge crack in the earth"...suppose something were to happen?
Then again, she'd played in the thorn patch as a child, so it wasn't as if her child was doing anything more dangerous than she had done.

"Oh, there's one out by the borders to the east," the cub said innocently. "I didn't go anywhere near the edge of it, I only just saw it," Sekizen said immediately after. He assumed the bottom had such rocks, as the area had been the only place he had seen with such pink things. Besides, he was still here, right? Nothing went wrong...
