Akila was realizing mud wasn't quite as fun as it seemed as a foal. It was everywhere after the latest spring rainstorm, packing her hooves to make her footing slippery and staining her snowy fetlocks an interesting shade of brown. Carrying her tail high managed to keep that out of the muck, at least. She didn't mind getting dirty so much, it was the process of washing it all out to remain presentable that she found tedious. Whenever you thought all the dirt was gone, you'd find something else that needed washing out. A pain in the arse, that's what it was.

There was a light spring in his step as he made his way through the forest. Yes, it had stormed. Yes, there was a bit of mud here and there... But the little thicket that he'd found had remained dry enough that he was content. Thank the heavens for thick grass!
The sun was out now, drying the land and giving bright blossoms a reason to venture forth to great the day. He nestled his head in a hearby patch of honeysuckles before turning towards the small, clear pond that he'd found. He dipped his muzzle to the water, taking a slow sip before tossing his head back.
The water was cool but, with the warm air? For once the stallion tossed caution to the wind, prancing right into the pond to stir the water around his legs. He had gotten a bit dirty, afterall... And with a coat as white as his? Little things like that were easily noticed.

Akila nickered happily as she came closer to the pond she knew was nearby, looking forward to a chance to wash the mud out however temporarily. If washing got too tiresome, she'd just leave it be until the mud dried out and then take care of it. But the pond was pretty as well as useful, a nice place to relax.
Her ears flickered forward in surprise as she noticed the pond was occupied, and her eyes widened at the sight. The stallion she saw looked more like spirit of light more than a Soquili, and Akila half expected him to disappear each time she blinked.

He pranced around in a slow circle, creating a tiny whirl around his legs that continued on after he paused. He was always more youthful when alone, letting his guard down in ways that he normaly wouldn't when in the presence of others. It was nice from time to time to let his hair hang down, so to speak.
His ears flickered as a light breeze tugged at his curls, carrying with it an unfamiliar scent. He tilted his head, looking around as he shifted on his hooves, gaze stopping on the mare who, at first glance, reminded him of a bluejay. He tossed his head back, adapting a 'proper' pose, forgetting for a moment that he had just been treading through the water like a foal. "Good afternoon, Madame."

Akila was aware that she was staring, but she couldn't help herself. The stallion looked like he was dreamed from light and clouds and sky, and the wings on his back... Stepping closer a little, she saw that they were simply markings, but so realistic that she still half expected their feathers to rustle in the breeze. "Wow...oh! Um, hello, sorry," she blurted, face reddening at her outburst.

He blinked, tilting his head to the side. "No, no. Allow me to apologize. I'm afraid I keep forgetting that the way to properly greet someone is to include a name as part of the introduction. I am Aziraphale..."
He looked almost sheepish for a moment as he glanced down, recalling that he was still standing in the pond. "Pardon me... I hadn't been expecting company." He stepped slowly out of the water before turning back towards the mare.

"If that's the case then I forgot too, so it's alright," Akila replied cheerfully, recovering from her fluster. "That's a pretty name though, mine's Akila." She tilted her head in light puzzlement as he stepped out in the pond, wondering if she'd embarrassed him somehow. "That's alright...I probably shouldn't have surprised you like that, huh?"

"A gentleman should never forget his manners in the presence of a lady." He dipped his head slightly, taking another step away from the water so that he could begin to dry off in the sun. "A gentleman should also pay more attention to his surroundings least he be caught offguard." It wasn't every day he could be caught frolicking like a foal in the water... His oldest friend had only caught him doing so twice and he'd never heard the end of it after that.

Hmmm. He seemed to be honestly worried that she'd be offended or something...either that or he just didn't like the idea of others watching him play. Akila shrugged mentally, deciding to just let it go if it eased his mind. "That sounds...interesting," she said, tilting her head. "How did you learn this?"

"Somewhere out there is a code for behavior. Someone has to remember it." He chuckled, giving his head a light toss. "But, enough about me and mine, Madame. How are you this fine day?"

"Really... Like rules for how to act, right?" Akila pricked her ears curiously. She'd never actually heard of such a thing before, though in reality she too ran by a code for behavior of her own...she just didn't know it. "I'm doing quite well, considering the mud about. I don't really mind mud...it's just having to keep washing it out that gets me." She snorted and shook her head. "It's a pain."
