In Innocent Hands Life is antiquated here in the city of Ilindal. The fastest horse brings the highest respect, and the sharpest blade, the highest price. The city is tiered…a deep lake lies in the center, structures built over the water. The land slopes up from there, forming a plateau level and from there, a sort of thick rocky structure that’s been carved into both home and wall. Outside the city there is little. Perhaps a few brave nomadic villages and such…mostly those who can survive to some degree out there. Four races sustain here… The Laertehe, Elves (of varying degree and sub-race), the Dragon-folk, and the Humans.
The Laerethe were the engineers of a treasure, a gift bestowed upon us when the harsh land no longer gave what we needed to survive. They gifted us with our new way of life and disappeared, no longer living among the others…so long ago did they pass that most call them legend. Rumors of their appearances seem more common these days…
The Rhythm Orb. Crafted by the Laerethe, it is a simple glass orb that within it swirls an energy force so great that it can control the very physical existences around it. Some have claimed it is Nature herself’s essence caught and caged by the Laerethe. This is the name that we gave it and in the manner we wielded it…not to control lives, but to control our world…or what reach the orb did have on it. The Orb sat in the middle of our city, guarded and used with great responsibility. We used it to control the weather, to grow our crops, to sustain ourselves in an otherwise hard environment. The world outside our city walls is cruel and barren, torn asunder ages ago by storms that swept across the land…it has yet to recover.
…Such things are coveted…and often fall into the wrong hands…
And such became of the Rhythm Orb. The day it disappeared, life changed forever. Now the harsh land once again rules us, but we’re managing; all the while searching for what has been taken. But life merely continues to test us as even stranger things have begun to happen…

“I should have eaten you both before you even opened your eyes.” A growl in his throat as he gazed upon the two on the floor before him as they clung to each other. “But…you’ve both been rather well behaved lately. Come, I have a present for you.” Hefting both up, one tucked under each arm and carrying them further back into the dilapidated sanctuary more or less tossing them down harshly as he reached his destination. From his robes, he withdrew a round object, wrapped in silk…and duly smashed it upon the ground the shape leaving the cloth. Crouching down to their level, he held out is palm and pulled open the cloth revealing nothing but shards. “For you…they’ll make your games more fun. Put them in your toys.” A gesture to the rather large model of Ilindal behind the two. “Use them with that. You’ll see.”

Savryn Silverfeather D'vinn gave a cough at the smoke and flame that came in her wake as she left the fabrics of planes traveling. Pulling back on the reins of her fire winged nightmare, her ears twitched lightly, listening. Barely any sound greeted her. A green tint entered clouded eyes, as did the eyes of the falcon perched on her shoulder. "Can we say barren wasteland and gray?" A smile at that one, before a chuckle and a kick of stirrups against her horses side. "Chylithair, go find some civilization..." The glow dying from the creature's eyes before he left his perch and took to the air. Good thing about barren wastelands..lots of nercomantic opportunities.

Wrinkling her nose as she popped through the smoke behind her friend, Shyrae Inthara waved her hand about her face. "I thought we were going to the surface..." A glance around and she shook her head. This looked like nothing she'd ever seen before, nor did it bear any resemblance to the stories she'd heard between her father and her Aunt Piper. "Savvy...I don't like this very much. Are you sure we can be here?" She reached down and petted the nightmare's mane. "Good girl Spyrit, I know you don't like this place too much..." That was an understatement as wings fluttered and the mare snorted. "Maybe we should go back?"

"We are on the surface. You can tell because the air." Not even looking back at her new travel companion. Boy were her parents going to flip when they found out...and Savryn's parents would probably feel better knowing she had a travel companion now...they worried. She should probably write them soon...hadn't in a while. "We can be anywhere we want to be, who's going to stop us?" A pull back on reins and a look to her friend...but she more of looked passed her than at her. "Humaning out on me Shyrae? I can get work here...believe me, this is a surface plane, it's jsut...well, not very healthy." A look up as ears twitched at the falcon's screech. "Now come on and don't lag behind." A snap of reins to get her own mount into a trot toward that sound.

"The gods forbid..." Shyrae rolled her eyes and glanced around. Yes she knew they were on the surface but come on now, this was just sad. Where were the trees? The waterfalls? The green? Her father had told her about his forays and between her aunt and grandfather, she'd learned so much more. Clicking softly to Spyrit, she urged the uncertain horse forward. "Whatever you say Savvy...you are the one more widely traveled than I." She knew the falcon's abilities and didn't doubt him for a second but this was a little ridiculous. There was nothing to be seen for miles... Shortly after though, she was proven wrong. "Well, appears Chy hasn't lost his touch. Make sure you give him a treat for this one Savvy. Hungry, thirsty, or rooms first?"
She made sure to move in front of her friend so she could follow the sound of the horse so no powers would need to be used as they made their way into the small town.

The Chimera rode over the sandy waves and looked as serene and calm as an anthill. crew were doing thier jobs, and the captain was in the crow's nest, feet perched up on one side and head on the other resting on his hands folded behind his head. though one eyebrow perked seeing a bird.
And a jump out of the crow's nest, grabbing a ropeline and swinging to the helm.
"Gentlemen! what do birds do?"
members of the crew looked up, and at eachother.
"fly?"
the captian rolled his eyes.
"No. birds eat. and where a bird can eat, there's food. and where there's food.."
one crewmember smiled lightly.
"there's people."
"Exactly. so, shall we pay our soon to be new friends a visit?"
and the wheel turned, and the Chimera started her way toward the flying bird, and toward whatever valuables that might be underneath it's flying form.

"I know, you were expecting Andal surface...but I wanted a change of venue...and since you're coming with me now...well...mom and dad won't worry as much about me." Needless to say what with her accident in youth, her parents were a tad over protective. Though that didn't stop her from keeping up with both Malikhai and Dhairiss. Besides, she took to the skill both her brother's didn't. Yup, she was daddy's little girl alright. Being mostly blind wasn't going to tie her nowhere.
"Besides, this is reality. Not all surfaces are sunshine and happiness...long as it doesn't rain." Hated rain...dulled everything. A smile though. "Chylithair has never let me down before." Ears twitched as sound changed around her, Shyrae was doing that thing again...Savryn was used to it by now. "Food and drink first, rooms second." Though a blink. "Shyrae...what's behind us?" Even at that distance, being elven and compensation for her vision could pick up nicely.
Chy doubled back for the moment since the girls had thier own way, and he duely glided over the ship, strifing through the riggings and such, scoping it out before heading back to the girls and alighting on Savryn's shoulder.

"Yours might not, mine are going to worry all the more..." Her mother was going to be inconsolable when she found Shy's note and her father was just going to be very unhappy, mostly because of her mother's reaction. "He was trained well and you have done a marvelous job with him. No evidence that he was ever so hurt either. I'm quite pleased." A grin as the falcon took off once and and she frowned.
"Behind us?" Oh wait, she heard it now. Glancing back she shook her head. "A ship...on land..."

"Mine always worried, you know that." Stupid being almost totally blind. But she tried not to dwell, what would be the point in that one? None. Reaching a hand back she pet at Chy. "You did a very good job at patching him up." And making him immortal, but that was a whole other story entirely...and wasn't pleasant. But Savryn looked none too phased. "Oh, is that all? Okay. Long as you know...they don't try to run us down...and even then our horses have wings and are nightmares." Coming to the gates of the city...or at least a big dark square she assumed were gates. "There a bell or something to get into this place?"
From atop the city walls, dragon-folk, most armed with pikes watched the approaching things. Two horses, bearing what they knew to be elves nad a ship following in thier wake. A few words were exchanged between two of them. "Spread word down the line and down to the humans on the bast level....we have visitors. See what they want."

Caden was on normal duty today, he had done a few errands for the past few days so now it was time to switch the guys around and he was stuck on wall duty;they had to do was that they watch out for nasty things from the outside of course. It wasn't a bad job really, all one has to do is walk the walls and keep an eye out for odd things, and if they do spot said odd thing they are to ring the bell at thier station.
So there Caden was, walking across the stone walkway that made up thier city wall, his hands in his pockets as his mind seemed to wander off and he began to think of what was for dinner later on. With a small scoff in hoping it wasn't just another stew he turned around to start walking back in the other direction and at that moment he spotted something in the distance, something big. Calling his partner to come over with a telescope he kept an eye on what seemed to be a large ship, when said telescope arrived he fixed it on the large dot and confirmed what his mind already believed. "Damn it, a ship..." Everyone knew who had the only floating ship now, and that was bad. Though it seemed that they were the last one's to find out because they received word to go see who was at the gate. "I'll do it." So he wandered down to the gate and got the guards to open it, his hands relaxed at his side as he slipped through the crack that was made for him "Well hello there and welcome to Ilindal, I've been sent down to ask you two just exactly what is your purpose for your visit? It's mandatory for all visitors."

"I'm hoping they'll see us and swing to the left or the right. I can't tell for sure but my guess is they are all humans." Her amber gaze swung over the city walls and she shook her head. "Mmm, no bell but I think we've already been noticed." She saw the guardians of the city turn and she had no doubt word was filtering down through the ranks. Adjusting her cloak slightly, she pushed back her hood and glanced up. What was the universal sign for peace? She knew she should have paid better attention to protocol and diplomacy... "Are you talking or am I? You're here to get work, I'm just the stowaway or tagalong." But there was really no time to waste, now was there? She scanned over the dragon-kin and bowed her head, praying that was the correct thing to do. She knew Savvy wasn't good with diplomacy...Aunt Piper had often said that she was Savvy's PR. "Greetings, my friend and I are weary travelers searching for a place to get some food, reverie, and maybe even some work. Might we gain entrance into your fair city? I assure you, we mean no harm."

Damn. not quite fast...no wait. the Captain handed the helm over, jumped down the deck, gave a whistle, which got a lever pulled and a harpoon gun came up at the front, attached with a net setup. a kick of another lever by it boosted it a bit and popped up an aiming scope. okay, go for the one with the bird. not to mention...those were awfully exotic looking horses. probably go for a pretty penny too.
another snap of his fingers and another lever hit, which extended metal legs at the back that dug in and started pulling the ship backward. he wasn't about to test his ship against a dragon just yet. and out shot the net, and lets see if they get a catch today.

Another invokation on the little gaze melding ability daddy had made sure she perfected....the ability to more or less sight jack someone's vision without thier knowledge was useful. Dragons on the walls...or what kinda looked like dragons, and then...a human. Much like her father, and somewhat her mother, she had a dislike for human's...mostly because thier lack or permanence. Savryn was about to say somethign when Shyrae took it...it was probably best...she tended to punch first ask later. "Ilindal..." Though a cringe at the screech from Chylithair as he strifed from her shoulder and she turned her head at particular sounds. Hm...going fishing were they? Net whistling in the air...turning her horse about, she raised a hand at said incoming net, the thing merely bursting apart and unraveling before it got to them, droppign to the ground in pieces. Ah decay...it was nice. That same gloved arm moved to the side and the falcon duely perched on it, letting her look at the ship. Thus a look over her shoulder at the human. "Your fishermen seem to have bad aim..."
