My Sai cosplay is almost finished! This is what I have so far (and yes, that is a wig; I'm keeping my hair long for Itachi cosplay. Anyway, you'll notice the belt is missing. I desperately need suggestions for what to do about the belt. First of all, the pants I have don't have belt loops. I also can't find a belt that really looks like Sai's. I thought that maybe I could buy one of those little rolls of ribbon-ish stuff (though it's kind of like a cross between ribbon and fabric >.>; I know nothing about sewing) that's white with a black line down the middle, and just sew it directly to the pants. The only problem there is that if I happen to gain some weight, while the waistband of the pants is stretchy, the ribbon-ish stuff wouldn't be, and... yeah. They wouldn't fit anymore because of that. So any suggestions on what I should do for the belt? crying

Oh, and any ideas whether the straps on the outfit should be red or tan? The reference pics I used all had them as tan, but in the anime they're red, so I'm considering changing them. crying But I kinda like them tan... but I want them to be accurate.

surprised ! And if it comes to it, you and I can sew in some belt loops after you find the kind of fabric you want surprised It wouldn't be too hard, and then if you gain weight not likely, omfg :0! we can always just take 'em off surprised

I don't know about the belt problem, sorry. But I think that you should change the shirt straps to red, just because it would technically be more acurate. (to the anime at least) And besides that, it would give the outfit a little more colour, and colour is good.

^^;;; Homg, no, it's sewn together! I don't know why it would look choppy unless it's that I haven't completely sewn the jacket to the shirt quite yet (only the main spots so that they'd stay together, I was planning to do the rest later), so they weren't laying completely flat. And I'm not sure what's choppy about the sleeve unless it's that wrinkle right there on the side... but it's all the same length, that's just how it's laying in that picture.

I'm not that great at sewing, though, and you can probably tell that the hems are just serged, not actually hemmed. But I'll hopefully have some help fixing that when I get up to Michigan xD And yeah, I think I've finally decided to go with the red straps.

xD I wish I could've gotten a better picture, but I got my dad to take them while I quickly tried on the outfit with the wig, and all the front-view ones came out blurry (his hands shake). BUT thanks a lot for your help! I'll try to even out the bottom as best I can.

Also, you could just press-dud the fabric it at the back so it looked attached but wasn't... 'cuz Sai doesn't have belt-loops either. If you got the measurements right, it would stay on with just a press-dud in the right place.
