 ((Sorry for the hugeness...I don't have a certed pic yet. sweatdrop )) The winged stallion laid quietly by the lake, peering into the water. It had been a very uneventful day. He still had yet to meet many others of his kind. There was that youngster from the other day, but other than glances from afar, he had yet to meet one of his kind who was also his size.
He shook his head slightly, tossing his long golden and red mane to the side and out of his eyes. He sighed as he lowered his head to the cool water to take a drink, his muzzle causing a ripple in the clear water as he drank.

Aishwarya stifled a yawn as she walked along. She'd had one of the two-leggers comb out her mane and tail that morning, and that always made her sleepy. The tugging on the long hairs was a soothing feeling, and made her even more calm then she normally was.
So now her steps were taking her down to the Lake, the cool water an enticement to her after the warm day. Spring seemed to be unseasonally warm..to her at any rate. It could be the heavyweight hair making her extra warm or just the weather but she made sure she spent her time near the large body of water as much as possible.
As she approached she noticed the stallion, taking in the wings, abundance of mane and wings. She walked over before taking a drink herself and gave a small cough.
'Hello..'

The stallion lifted his head and looked towards the mare who had approached. I didn't even hear her walk up.... He looked at her, and was amazed at her extremely long black hair, and her golden markings. He truly found her beautiful. But he wouldn't tell her that. He didn't let others know that he found anything other than himself beautiful. That would expose a weakness that others could possibly exploit.
He shifted his wings in a very purposful manner, noticing that the other creature didn't have any herself, and tossed his head.
"Good evening."
That was it. He wasn't mean about it, but he was still trying not to show too much interest and not appear over-eager for any kind of companionship or anything else. Though to himself, he noted how intrigued he was by this beautiful creature.

'I suppose it is..' Aish tilted her head, noticing the once over he had given her. She supposed that every stallion was going to do that, although she didnt really suppose herself to be beyond the ordinary in anyway.
'Am I disturbing you?' she asked straightaway. Had she found someone like her? He seemed reserved, his greeting had been neither overtly friendly nor particularly distant. She glanced out across the Lake, just as waterfowl landed on it and she watched the bird a moment before looking back at the stallion.

The question took Shikoba aback a bit. He didn't expect the other to look too far into his response. Of course she wasn't bothering him. His inner self was dying to know more about this beautiful creature, but he didn't want to expose himself.
"Oh, no...of course not."
He looked away from her as the bird landed in the water. A bird was somewhat like him, he thought, as he shifted his wings unconsciosly. He could fly above the others on the earth, and escape when he felt like it. He looked back at the mare, and noticed again her lack of wings.
"You do not have wings like I do...but you have the same shape as I. What are you?"
As soon as he asked the question, he regretted it. He obviously didn't understand her, but he shouldn't let her know that. He knew that enemies often took the shape of beautiful and interesting creatures, making it easier to lure its victims into a false sense of security. And now he had open himself to this creature, enemy or not, and provided a possible point for attack.
He watched the mare a bit cautiously as he awaited her response.

Aishwarya smiled, pleased that she wasnt. She really did enjoy meeting new people..on her terms always of course, and she'd yet to see one of her kind with the feathered wings up close.
When she turned back from looking at the bird out on the water she saw that he had been looking the same way. That pleased her as well, he seemed aware of his surroundings, she hoped this meant that he would be neither shy, nor too into himself.
'What am I?'
That was a strange question to be sure, and her nose wrinkled a little before she answered him.
'Just because I do not have your wings does not mean I am unlike you. We are Soquili.'
She moved on the spot, shifting herself into a comfortable stance and swished her long braid neatly behind her rear legs.
'How is it you do not know that?'

To anybody else other than Shikoba, it would be strange for him to not know what he was. But he had never really known much about himself.
"I don't know. I really have no idea who or what I am. I was just here one day."
Shikoba was definently taking a lot of risks with this mare. But for some reason, he felt he could trust her. Maybe he had finally found a friend. But he had to find out more first.
"Soquili, you said? That's what we both are? And how did you learn this?"

'You do not remember a life before being here, no family or anything?'
That was even stranger. How could he just 'appear'?
'From my mother, I've known since I was old enough to understand knowing.' she explained. Normally Aishwarya would not dicuss anything of her personal life with a perfect stranger but this wasnt normal. She'd not before met one of their kind who did not know who they were in the world.
'You do have a name I suppose?'

He didn't really understand why she felt it was so strange. He knew it was somewhat unusual to others, but it had never really bothered him. He had no mother to teach him who or what he was, or anything about the world, so almost everything was new to him. That was one of the reasons why he tried to appear so strong and confident...because he really wasn't.
"I do have a name. It is Shikoba. And yours?"

Aishwarya just let out a slight snort at that. She couldnt really comprehend knowing nothing before being in this place, before coming to the Village area. But she also wasnt that nosey, not enough to keep prying into someones past when it might not be wanted.
'Shikoba huh..' she restrained herself from asking who had named him that.
'Aishwarya.' she replied, flicking a direct look at him and smiling softly.

Shikoba could tell that Aishwarya didn't really understand his explination, or even believe it. But he really didn't know any other way to explain it. He didn't understand it all himself, but he didn't know what to do about it, so he gave up on trying to understand it.
"Aishwarya? That's a beautiful name."
He was finding that almost everything about this creature was beautiful. But he was picking up on a sense of distrust or disbelief from Aishwarya, and he didn't know if she was a friend yet or not.

Aishwarya was guarded; she always was on first meeting anyone new. There were of course Soquili who reputation proceded them, mostly down to the type they were. Even so she still felt that she only knew a Soquili after speaking to them. Shikoba's background was a mystery it was true but she didnt feel anything..wrong or even dangerous about him. He seemed more lost then anything, and despite the fact that she wasnt the type of mare who flung herself at the first thing with a 'y' chromosome, she was still able to appreciate his looks.
'Thank you.' she accepted the compliment with grace, looking boldly at the stallion once more.
'So what do you do around here? Were you hoping to meet a friend?'

Shikoba stood up, wanting to stretch his legs. He flapped his wings once, stretching them as well, and tossing off any dust that had gathered in his feathers while he was lying in the grass.
"I usually keep to myself. I like to roam the fields and the forrests, finding new places. They're all so beautiful."
It was true that Shikoba did appreciate nature very much. He loved it when he would be out wandering one day, and come upon an undiscovered clearing in a forrest, or a crystal clear lake.
"I don't really have many friends. I've met a few others...Soquili I guess they were. But I haven't gotten to know anybody yet."

Aishwarya stood back a little, giving Shikoba room as he stood. She watched the movement of the wings as he opened them, noting the placement of the feathers as he did so and then nodded at him as he spoke.
'I like my own company as well. As do I enjoy meeting new Soquili. Although I seem to have acquired a nack of only meeting stallions so far.' she chuckled.
'Really? How come..' she chuckled a little.
'I mean if you dont mind my prying so.'

Shikoba found that he thought Aishwarya was asking quite a few questions. And he didn't quite understand why she was laughing.
"I...I just haven't really met anybody that I'd really like to get to know better, I guess."
But he would really like to get to know Aishwarya better. He wouldn't tell her this, but he knew it was true. He felt so comletely exposed to her, and for some reason, he wasn't afraid of it.
